Used to be a five star place. Down to 2 stars now due to general drop off in quality of service, combined with the fact they now have telemarketers call my cell at work to try and push loans I didn't ask for. I have other accounts with the big bad national banks and even they don't do that. I don't know what has happened to this place over the past 20 years but it's pretty sad to see. Cell app is pretty lackluster also. Auto loan interest rates are competitive though.

Lately my experience hasn't been the greatest. When i found out Josh ruiz left this left me in complete dismay. He went above and beyond for me. It truely felt like a credit union. He explained things and answered my questions. Since things have changed and they have a new location it lacks the personal touch, trust and staff don't seem as genuine. When i went into the credit union-almost a year ago when they first moved to meet with Josh, there was two other staff in their personal offices having not the "greatest" conversation. Almost like gossiping-i believe it was an older man. So unprofessional. I plan on buying a home in the next year. With lack of trust with the staff and the experience in person I'm hesitant to start that process especially because Josh ruiz is no longer there. I've also been an active member for >25 years. Please fix these issues, I want to buy a home, I'm just uncertain if that would be with point west and please bring Josh ruiz back.

Not a great experience. Pre approved for a auto loan then as we were about to buy vehicle they pulled the rug out from under us due to question about the vehicle. They acted like it was our fault when it was absolutely their incompetence that lead to the situation. Instead of providing a solution or even an apology it was them pointing fingers. Will not return.

I would give it 5 stars but some 'employees' are not very helpful at all, for example; Alex Lara and Katherine Matsen, it seems like they hate their job. If you need help with banking at Point West ask for JOSH RUIZ. He's excellent at customer service!

I have been a customer for over 24 years. I have had a few bad experiences, but the majority of time I am very very satisfied with your service. This last week, for the first time ever I received a phone call from a Point West representative asking if I had received an offer for a loan. I had, but did not take advantage of the offer. The gentleman was very respectful and asked if there was anything else they could do for me. Thank You for the customer service call.

Have been banking with Point West for years and have been impressed with them as they've always had professional and helpful representatives though ever since moving to their new location customer service and proffesionalism has largely declined. It seems like the staff is a rotating door of new people as most representatives often seem confused and have a hard time answering easy questions and are generally disinterested in helping people. Point West should definitely focus more on maintaining relationships with their clients and being helpful and not alienate them when asked questions. Trying to receive customer service over the phone with PWCU is something I would not wish upon anyone. Very unimpressed as of late though I hope they clean up their act as it used to be a great bank.

I called 4 Portland area credit unions to compare home equity lines of credit and decided to go with Point West because they had the best rate and terms. In my research I saw they had mixed reviews, but most of the negative reviews related to customer service and limited branch locations, and I didn't think any of that would impact my situation. So I applied online. Almost a week passed and I heard nothing, so I called them, learned who my rep was and left a message. I expected a call that afternoon. When I didn't hear back, I called again the next morning and got through to my rep. I learned they needed to confirm I had mortgage insurance. This didn't make any sense to me because mortgage insurance is only required if you've paid less than 20% equity into the property. The rep called the underwriters to confirm. And they insisted I must have mortgage insurance to get the line of credit so my application was denied. Really?! My credit score is over 800, I've never missed a payment in my life, and I have more than enough equity in my house for the small loan I was requesting. I called the 3 other credit unions to see if they required mortgage insurance for their home equity line of credits and all said no and were confused by the question. I asked my mortgage broker if she had ever heard of such a thing and she said she hadn't. I then chose one of the other credit unions to start my application and within 2 days I had a pre-approval letter. Missed opportunity Point West! I would have been easy money for you.

Coming from a larger credit union this credit union's web page is far beyond sub par. It seems very disorganized and doesn't allow you to get your information that you need without actually going into the bank in person or calling them with their strange hours. I have no complaints about the staff. They did a great job assisting me. But for being in the age of booming technology and having everything at your fingertips you would figure that they would have a better web page.

Over the years, most of the time I have appreciated their service. I have also had some real goofs with them--they appear to be pretty slow responding to issues on accounts. I have also found that some of the service that they contract for out of the credit union is not helpful nor adequate. I have considered transferring my account several time, but have not wanted the hassle, so I live with a few of the less-than-perfect services of Point West.

This credit union has the some of the worst customer service ever. In particular one person named Victor. He is beyond rude and every time I ask to speak to someone above him they try to re route me. When I have called they answer the phones and don t greet you so most of the time you don t know who you are talking to it s like they have caller ID and know who s calling and you are bothering them. It shouldn t matter who you are professionalism should be maintained at all times. Every single time I have talked to him he has showed a lack of that with his rude tone smart remarks and I don t understand why he is still there! I ve never been rude with him and I also expressed my concerns with him and other staff over the phone. No one ever called to apologize or address the situation! I would never bank with PW again just because of my experiences with him.

I have banked at PWCU for decades and loved them. I even tolerated their move to the horrible new location, but since their move the new staff are horrible. Customer service seems to be the last thing they care about. They make you feel like you are bothering them. For the first time I feel like maybe this is not the bank for me.

Been a customer for many yrs. Was happy until they moved to new location, which only has 2 tellers and if one is on break you can be standing in line quite a while. They also changed the times mobile deposits are done, 7:15 am. And 2:15 p.m, we liked it when they did it right away. Their new app is awful! Have to do extra steps to transfer money from one account to other. Please fix your app and add more tellers and go back to doing mobile deposits several times a day.

About Point West Credit Union

Point West Credit Union: Empowering Communities through Financial Inclusion

Point West Credit Union is a financial institution based in Portland, Oregon that has been serving its members since 1932. The credit union was founded on the principles of financial inclusion and empowerment, with a mission to lift up underserved communities such as immigrants, communities of color, and small businesses.

At Point West Credit Union, members are not just customers but owners. As a member-owned cooperative, the credit union operates under the philosophy of "people helping people." This means that profits are returned to members in the form of lower fees and better rates on loans and savings accounts.

One of Point West's core values is accessibility. The credit union offers a wide range of financial products and services designed to meet the needs of all its members regardless of their income level or financial background. From checking accounts to home loans, Point West provides affordable options for everyone.

In addition to traditional banking services, Point West also offers innovative programs aimed at promoting financial literacy and education. For example, their "Money Matters" program provides free workshops on topics such as budgeting, saving for college or retirement planning.

Another unique feature offered by Point West is their microloan program which provides small business owners with access to capital they need to start or grow their businesses. This program has helped many entrepreneurs who may have been turned down by traditional banks due to lack of collateral or credit history.

Point West's commitment to social responsibility extends beyond its own operations into the community it serves. The credit union partners with local organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and Oregon Food Bank in order to give back through volunteer work and donations.

As an organization committed both financially inclusive practices as well as social responsibility initiatives within its community; it’s no surprise that Point West Credit Union has received numerous awards over the years including being named one of Oregon Business Magazine's "100 Best Companies To Work For."

In conclusion; if you're looking for a bank that puts people first while also making an impact in your community then look no further than Point West Credit Union!
