From check in to checkout this was a very welcoming ,clean and comfortable place to stay.The rooms were very clean, beds comfortable.The restaurant on site was very nice.Food was real good and the service was great. Shout out to Vernon the waiter. Really accomondating guy and made our dining experience very pleasant Excellent service. Would definitely recommend.
We are presently staying at this location mainly because it is close to the hospital where I am being treated. It is actually a reasonable walk to the hospital as well as downtown Halifax and is conveniently located.
The entry to the lodge is clean and inviting and the staff at the desk are friendly and helpful. This is where the upside of my review ends.
The rates for a single room are slightly better than we could get at the BW (Best Western) Chocolate Lake (seniors rate). Our rate was $89 a night plus $15 for parking and internet is $11 extra. BW was $105 a night but parking and internet was free and breakfast is included. Distance from the BW to the hospital required we drive and then pay for parking there.
We had stayed at Point Pleasant Lodge 8 months ago and it was undergoing renos. The renos are still ongoing and rhe hallways reflect this. This was disappointing.
The room is small with one double bed and one uncomfortable chair. Other furniture is spartan and there is no drawers to hold underwear and socks. The bathroom is small with no towel racks, they sit on the toilet back. Bathroom ventilation is slow.
The room and bathroom is clean and neat.
The lounge/restaurant on the main level is not open on weekends so we have not seen it yet. I will update later.
Point Pleasant Lodge looked nice. Service was friendly and quick. Our stay was only one evening and we didn't really explore, but there is a gym, restaurant, wifi, and cable. The room was nice and very clean. The only reason I gave a 4 star and not 5, is because the TV kept glitching and flickering.
The rooms are nice and newly renovated and the employee's will do anything to help
My wife and I, Greg Glasgow, had the pleasant opportunity to stay At Point Pleasant Lodge Tuesday, November 3rd, due to an emergency medical procedure. The room was very functional, not overdone, comfortable, near the V G hospital, and pleasantly inexpensive. I would be remiss if I did not mention the very delicious meal and the exemplary service from the dining room. As well as being delicious, the presentation of the food added to the experience. The gentleman who served our meal was Vernon. His service was second to none but the remarkable thing, the storm left the dining room short-staffed and Vernon had also prepared our repast. Our thanks to him for making our stay so pleasant, no pun intended. We will definitely be referring your establishment. Thank you from the Glasgows from Truro, N.S. I should add that accessibility is easy for visitors unfamiliar with the city and the proximity to the hospital eases worries.
This was the 1st time I've stayed at this hotel and I definitely would going back very clean and very nice staff
Upon entering we were greeted with a friendly person. We were given our room info and off we went.
Room was very clean and quiet.
Point Pleasant Lodge is great if you are looking for a clean and cheap place to stay in Halifax. Only $50+tax for a single bed and $70+tax for a double you will not find a cheaper place to stay, except for the hostels. Point Pleasant Lodge caters to out of town patients scheduled for appointments at the local hospitals so it can be a busy place and since most of the appointments are very early expect lots of morning noise unless it is the weekend. The rooms are spartan but the beds are comfortable. No air conditioning and no fridge. Some flat screen TV,s but mostly old picture tube types. I think there is a dining room on site and it is not far from lots of venues. The staff are friendly. Quiet on the weekends. A great place to stay for a night or two. This is usually where I stay when I feel the poker itch. I had only one problem. Some of the patrons were smoking in their rooms. You could smell both tabaco and marijuana in the hallway but it was far enough away from my room that I only smelled it when exiting the lodge. I am sure that, had I reported anything to the front desk, they would have dealt with it. I recommend this place for a quick stopover in the city. MW
I was pleasantly surprised by the renovations to the place. Before I stayed here many times with my husband and it was just a place to lay your head but most time it was paid insurance or by the hospital itself .I have a couple of suggestions one being the beautiful restaurant which the prices are above and beyond. I do realize a lot of patients have food vouchers but then many don't. It cost me 51 dollars witt a tip and I know I didn't even know what I ordered. This was supper.l didn't even recognize the limit menu of food to get in the restaurant but in saying that it ambience was lovely but hopefully the people who make these decisions will come to realize something more affordable and better choices. The staff working in the lodge have wonderful personalities. Then the room I almost cried at beautiful decor. Thinking of the patients returning from treatment etc.and getting in this beautiful comfy bed and spotless room.it just spells dignify and respects for us less fortunate. One more complaint, I had to stay Friday night into Saturday so I called from my room to see when breakfast was opened which I was told it wasn't open on weekends as many go home I get that so I asked if they had tea or coffee available and that was a no .really this would be great to offer in the morning especially when restaurant is closed. Most people need there need tea or coffee first thing in the morning. I'm by no means blaming anyone for this oversight that could be quickly changed. But once again the place is so beautiful the staff.inviting. Kudos to work staff. who made this happen
