Amazing staff. They really care about the animals there. I am grateful for my dearly departed dog Sally I got thru them and very excited to be able to get my new dog stella in a few days. So many great dogs there now it was hard to choose so we let stella choose us. Go there if you want a well cared for animal.

My experience happened years ago but I still get annoyed whenever I remember how awful I was treated when I'd brought in an elderly dog one day. I'd just opened my front door when I spotted him running down the sidewalk in the pouring rain. I called to him and to my amazement he happily ran to me and into my home. I towel dried him and snuggled with him but knew he wasn't mine to keep. He had a collar but no tags. Assuming he was someone's pet, I took him to the shelter praying he'd be quickly reunited with his family. At the shelter I explained to the woman working there how I came to find him. Instead of graditude she stared at me with unveiled contempt! It was obvious that she didn't believe a word I said and thought I was abandoning my own dog. I was so hurt by this experience. I'd had my pre-teen daughter with me who was witness to this whole exchange. It was a disturbing end to what I'd hoped would be a wonderful life lesson for my child.

I hate to give them this review but they were so unorganized- I went during an adoption event where all animals were free or $10. I arrived at 930am when the event started at 11 expecting there to be some type of line. While waiting volunteers came in and out of the door I was waiting asking me what I was looking for and mentioning that I might be able to get in early since I was there. I was luckily the first one there to wait. about 11 there were now over hundred people standing around the parking lot. mind you- I was on the front porch waiting where first In line would be. but they decided to announce in the middle of the crowd that dog lines start on back. so everyone rushed to the back leaving me who was in the front of the building now in the back of the line. - that was the first of 3 lines. it's not 3.5 hours later and I've only waited in lines have been recalled over and over. I hope all dogs were adopted because I didnt even get to see one. things they should have done to not be completely incompetent pieces of trash- have a sign in sheet. RSVP since you had over 3000 likes on an Instagram post when you average 200 or less (honestly from this one piece of information you should have planned much better than you did but again-youre failure.) you should have had police there for crowd control- There was literally an accident out front because of the amount of excess traffic. DO NOT COME HERE IF THEY ARE HAVING AN EVENT YOU WILL REGRET IT. now if they would like to contact me through Instagram @alextourcorsetry I might revise this review but this review is very very very deserved.

I went here on a day cats & dogs were being advertised for free or $10 but the lines were crazy long and by the time I actually got into.the facility the smells were so strong I just had to leave and it wasn't worth it. I get it it's an animal facility but those smells were nauseating, gross, and completely overpowering. I wouid go back but on a non busy day and I was going to look into volunteering but if still smells God awful & like decaying death. I won't be able to.

Lavish it's not. But the staff and volunteers are great. And you can't be there for more than 10 minutes without someone dropping off a donation, which speaks very highly of the place and its people. They obviously care a great deal for the animals and work hard to take care of them until until they're adopted.

Staff are mostly volunteers, some people are happier than others, but why do you go to a shelter to see the people or find your new fur baby? have been at this shelter many times the staff is always friendly. they need your help - in donations, pet food, towels, volunteers and the like

I adopted the most beautiful, loving, cuddly, and well tempered kitten from here. It was such an easy process, but they explained everything perfectly for us to understand. This was our first time adopting from here and I could not be happier with the amazing professionalism and knowledge that they shared with our family. Our kitten is now no longer a kitten, but he s still the sweetest cat that I ve ever owned. Thank you so much for allowing us to give Koda his FOREVER HOME! If you can adopt a pet, you definitely should from this Humane Society. They payed for all the shots and to get our beautiful boy fixed. Great experience!!!!!

I donate Cat and Dog Food, Treats, Toys, Cat Litter and Cleaning Supplies to this GREAT Animal Shelter every month. The staff there is great! They really love and care for all the animals that are rescued and come to the shelter. The staff always asks me if I need help bringing the stuff in and always shows appreciation for my support. I am so Grateful to Jesus and the Father for providing me the means to donate, support and help the animals in need. I am also thankful to GOD that he has placed these wonderful people at the Plainfield Area Humane Society to love and care for these animals on a daily basis. You know.... that putting your humanistic attitudes behind you and just giving your donation support and love to these animals... shines the best in you and all you can accomplish for the greater good of the animals and yourself. Your honorable, noble and pure actions of love to these and all animals will be blessed and you will have a better life.

This place sucks . They don't care to help a pet in need . The outside could use some fixing up and around the back . It does not look safe for the animals. I spoke with one nice volunteer but the other ones are rude . I'd never adopt from this hole.

The dedicated staff treats the animals in their care well. They spend their money on the needs of the animals instead of decorating their building. The shelter can always use old towels, sheets, and blankets...please keep it in mind before throwing them away. Ordering food or treats on Amazon and having it sent to Plainfield Area Humane Society is a quick and easy way to help them care for their animals.

I used to volunteer at Plainfield Humane and I can assure you they are awesome. The place may be a little older and in need of some renovations (paint and such) but it is clean and the animals are very well cared for. Usually the ones who bash someplace such as this have no experience. I know firsthand how hard it is to clean cages and and spend time walking, playing, petting...the day is over before it begun. Every day every cage gets cleaned...even the ferral cats. They have ample property with a walking path. They operate on a very tight budget and when people bash them it leaves the same budget even tighter. The people there are amazing with animals.

My best friend adopted a kitten from this shelter....

My best friend adopted a kitten from this shelter. Less than two weeks later from her bringing the kitten home she had worms and ring worm which spread to my friend, her son, their neighbor and her friend s dog. Hundred of dollars later from her personal vet, the shelter took zero responsibility for the kitten and her health. Her personal vet put the kitten on special medicine and was in fear of kitten s liver shutting down and her dieing. If I could give negative stars I absolutely would. I wouldn t recommend this place to my worst enemy unless you want to fall in love with your pet and find out she has serious health aliments in which you have to pay for a week after adopting her.
