The folks who work there were super welcoming, friendly, and conversational. It felt like I was talking to old buddies yet I had never been there or Pittsburgh ever. Must places like this have an air of pretentiousness, but not these folks. I lied it so much I'm liking for a similar place here at home. Would definitely visit again.
The wine and beer selection were good, art work was accessible and amazing to view.
I live in the neighborhood, and it is increasingly getting more and more difficult to park. The center has a huge draw, which is great, but it is negatively impacting how its neighbors live their lives on the weekends. And its not like there aren't' places to park on Penn Avenue. The people who are coming into the neighborhood are just too cheap to pay to park!
Which is really interesting given how expensive their hobby is.
Me and another attended the flower make it now session of Valentines day since they give a good deal to make Valentines related crafts that day. It was nice being able to make something. Since they don't supply gloves, I managed to get a burn, but good thing is they have after burn aloe there for use. The other person in my group asked for a double curve in the stem but we instead got a curve in a curve making the stem so thin that it snapped before we could even get it off the hot stick. He tried fixing it with a blow torch but I don't think it will be the same after. It would be nice to make more advanced pieces though. One benefit of the membership, if you're co templating about getting one, is that if they have enough emoylty seats for a workshop, they will give half off tuition for you to do it but it's obviously on a first come first serve basis.
Awesome place. Lots of fun. They have date nights that I would highly recommend as well.
I have come here several time for the pumpkins making event and it is always a well run and fun event. The volunteers/staff were kind and patient when asked questions. Great for singles, groups of people and families.
I've taken 2 classes and gone to their Friday Night Hot Jams, and I can not say enough great things about PGC! The staff and instructors are top notch, and very informative about all forms of glass art. Stop in to visit and you might see people blowing glass or making marbles, you never quite know. The Gallery features some awesome artists and changes every couple months.
We made pumpkins with Beyvan and Dan and they were amazing! Great experience and something very fun and different to do! Will definitely be coming back to make something else!
Just stopped in on a whim. Oh what a fantastic decision! I lucked into a gentleman making paper weights. He could not have been more informative! If your looking for off the beaten path things to do.....this should be on the short list.
This place is fantastic. Friendly staff, fascinating workshops. Did a boyscouts activity here and made beautiful paperweights first-hand. Will definitely be back for a couple workshops. Parking is limited, but where isn't it in this area of the city?
We were driving through on a road trip and looked for a place to kill a bit of time and this was a lovely, free visit. The kids really enjoyed seeing the glass work being done as well as the works on display.
The classes looked pretty impressive but we didn't take part in any of them.
Not much parking though.
Very cool place glass blowing and you can make glass projects
Went to Pittsburgh Glass Center as part of the Radical Days, Pittsburgh events.
The place looks small, but they have lots of exhibits and workshops for all levels.
They've also got a neat cafeteria for snacking.
Definitely a must visit .
I'd always recommend finding out the events planned for the day and period you are planning to visit.
The staff are great and super helpful
Our group had a demo & hands on making glass flowers. It was a blast. I'll be going back again soon :)
Had a great time, wonderful instructor. Will definitely be back.
Was a great experience. I really spend good time with my family here. As they are famous because of glass blown pumpkin and it is really awesome.
Fun "Make It Now" night. Instructor was super nice and informative. Just thought there'd be more hands on participation.
Amazing place. The teachers were great. Going back for more classes as soon as I can.
What a fun afternoon.
Great place.
Check out the classes offered.
Don't need to be artistic.
Will go again.
great facility, very pricy in comparison to the rest of the industry though.
Really cool spot! They have aweome glass designs and pieces that are certain to inspire and awe you. There are glass blowing demonstrations and classes upstairs. However note their shorter hours and that the glass studio is closed for maintenance during August. Check it out!
An awesome experience, instructors are friendly and very nice. It was a lot of fun, highly recommend.
Awesome for classes. Sign up for a date night event. Always a great time. Gallery is small but usually has amazing works of art.
Went there for a date night event. Was a fun experience
Was told online my class was $750.00 total the day we paid and got a receipt and we were well before the cut off for early bird placement. They charged my account $840.00 - our bank has now been told we will be missing $240 from our refund because we cancelled because you guys charged us $100 more for something you promised on your website was $750.00 only. Unacceptable never working with you again. We ordered this class 2 months before early bird expiration your company is horrible and we ll be filing additional fraud claims with my bank considering we have proof of payment and your charge was blatantly incorrect.
This place is amazing!!! I ve taken a couple classes so far and all the instructors have been fantastic. They keep it light and fun while teaching you all the techniques needed to walk away with a beautiful creation. Im already looking for more workshops and classes to take!
The course instructors are amazing - patient, eager to answer questions and foster a shared love for the art of glassworks. We did the pulled flowers. I have never done this before, but the result? See for yourself! I save rating any place a five for places such as this - more than a place but a wonderful, unique learning experience!
I purchased the Glass Hearts class for my daughter and I to take together as a Christmas present. She lives in Pittsburgh but I live two hours away in Bedford. We loved the experience! Christy was a great teacher and much assistance was provided. However, it was a huge disappointment when my daughter went to pick up our hearts three weeks later (she does not live close by) and they weren't there. Possibly one out of the four we made between us was one of ours; otherwise, it looked like others had picked up theirs and ours got taken in the process. Or maybe broken? My daughter said it appeared disorganized. The reason we didn't have them shipped to us is because they charge $10 per heart pendant which is pricey as small as they are. We were so excited to see and wear our hearts. This was a real bummer!!
PGC is great. My friend and I took a class in the flame shop and made fun little pendants. Our instructor, Anthony, was knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I would definitely take another class in the future.
I went there for RADical days, and the demostration and service was a blast! We had lots of fun looking at how interesting they made the glass sculptures, they made a ghost, like a kid dressed in ghost costume, great that it is Halloween theme since it is just around the corner. I would recommend to to anyone with a passion of looking at interesting works of art, and hard worked for works of art. In the future I will totally visit again.
My workplace sent a team of about 30 people for a fun and team building event. It was fantastic! Love what we did, and having a chance to fashion my own glass objects. I am even doing some glass work at home now as a result!
This is a great place to visit. In our visit, there were different exhibitions of glass pieces selling by artist. There were christmas ornaments, jewerly, wine glasses, glass backing dishes, among other beautiful products. Also, they offer some companion courses to create christmas ornaments and other decorations. In general the prices are a little expensive, but it is important to consider than they sell unique pieces maden by artist. Finally, we visited an exhibition that represent the inmigration to US.
Fantastic art. I haven't attended a class, but I have watched demonstrations during First Fridays and it is definitely worth attending if you've never seen glass artist working with their medium.
