This is a reasonably good school. It has some of the best offerings of any community college in North Carolina. The American Institute of Research and Matrix Knowledge Group developed a "success measure' for community colleges. 'Success' meaning employment and ability to transfer to 4 year college. Pitt CC ranks 263 of 786 community colleges nation-wide and 8 or 32 North Carolina community colleges. That's not bad when you consider where it's located. The top schools are in areas where they can draw much better prepared students.

Some of the teachers are outstanding, others not so much. The school is a "for-profit" organization. Books prices are over-inflated, councilors aren't knowledgeable about there trade, and the FA Office is terrible about getting things done or even responding to request. Don't let the "good reviews" fool you, this is a poor choice for a school, the staff are only there to collect a paycheck and do minimal work, students are just a number... I advice against attending here unless you have absolutely no other option!

The teachers, for the majority, do not care about you or your education. They come in teach and leave just to get the paycheck.

The Office staff in the main building have no desire to help you and ignore anything you submit. I was told my appeal for financial aid was not reviewed and automatically denied even after I had office personnel help me do all the steps for accuracy. The cost of books is extremely overpriced. I saved over $400 by buying elsewhere, and that was only for 4 books.

Do not waste your time going to a school that teachers and staff don t care. You will receive grades based on if the teacher likes you rather your accuracy and correctness.

First, let me say that I am very biased since I've worked at PCC for over a decade. However, the college is a wonderful place for anyone to further their education.
Whether you are a new high school graduate, returning to college after a break, looking to make a career change or looking for a recreational class to stay active there is something here for you.
The faculty and staff really care about students and are willing to help you navigate through the process of finding the right degree or class for you.
I'm in the Fine Art department, and what makes it so special is the sense of community that exists between the students and faculty. One of my favorite activities is watching the students work in the studio (pre-covid).
If you are going to get started at PCC & need help, I'll point you in the right direction.

For the most part the teachers and classes are good, but not great. The real problem I had was with the foreign language department, this is because the teacher does not test you on what she teaches, and then I went to the department chair for help with the teacher, and she told me to get a tutor, so I scheduled a tutor and when I went to the tutor, she was on a walk and I waited for 20 minutes for her but she never came, so I left. Also, trying to talk to counselors is very disorganized and takes to long because there is only 1 counselor at a time, while the others sit in their office.
