Beautiful scenic area! I recommend the golf course as well!
Beautiful year around! Always nice to just drive through or have lunch or ride the sky lift down to bottom. Love to just ride through & look around, fall & winter are best time for pictures!
I don't know if it is because of Covid-19 regulations or just that the State refuses to put money into updating their webpage or even their Facebook pages but they need to spend some time and/or money on both.
I understand the undo strain that this pandemic has placed on public and private businesses but it could be said that information technology has never been their strong suit.
The park itself is beautiful but employee moral has bottomed out. Employees at the Pro Shop, and Tram Gift Shop did not adhere to the Governor's mask mandate.
There is no mention on website while booking rooms at the lodge of needing to reserve time to use indoor pool, Adventure Lake or that the only one restaurant is open Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Sounds trivial, I know, but this is a secluded park and these things matter.
This is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL park! If you want to camp in a tent/camper or stay at the lodge or rent one of the many cabins, this place has many options, lots of space and beautiful views to please everyone. There are lots of activities for all ages too. Did I mention the beautiful (stocked) lake? I love this place. Just remember to check and double check your grocery list. It's a hop, skip and for jumps to the closest grocery store.
Idk who the lady in the gift shop in the lodge was, but she was very informative! This place was beautiful. It had trams and zipline. Lots of trails! And a look out point!
This place was absolutely wonderful. They went out of their way to help when we had to evacuate from Florence. Luckily our home was spared and the evacuation order was lifted so we left a day early. Our cabin was beautiful and spacious. The kitchen was fully outfitted with refrigerator, oven/stove, microwave, and dishes. The beds were comfy and everything was clean.
5 's!!!! I really can't say enough great things about this place. We stayed in the campground with full hook up's for 3 days. I will note to anybody doing the same; make sure you have a regulator for your water hose. Their water pressure is 100 psi. I have never seen a Campground so accessible for handicap. They have several accessible sites; and a separate accessible bathroom where my husband had plenty of room to get in, use the bathroom and shower. All the staff at the campground and throughout the park were all friendly and helpful. We spend one day at the lake fishing. I also took a 1 hour horse ride through the park for what I thought was a very reasonable price. Everybody at the horse stables were very friendly and helpful. We had dinner at McKeever lodge one evening. Everything was fabulous. Our waitress keep up with our table very well. When we went up to pay they asked how everything was and I answered with wonderful but continued to explain that I had read a lot of bad reviews about this place. She informed me that they had gotten a new manager in April and things had really improved. We didn't want to leave and made reservations for next year before we left.
Absolutely love Pipestem. Beautiful scenery. Their cabins are rustic and remind me of being back home.
Nice place to stay. Amazing views. The aerial tram to the gorge is a must.
Peace and quiet in the natural beauty of West Virginia.
Wonderful place for family. All kinds of things for everyone to do
Just returned... I'm a mountaineer who has been away too long.... Wanted to go to the mountains for a few days of fall weather and golf. Best short trip in a while. The facility is super, the people were very friendly and helpful. Stayed at Mountain Creek Lodge, played golf at both courses, toured most of the park. Great time, excellent value, will be back again!
Great family outing...as long as the tram and horse staples are open
Stayed in lower resort ... loved it ... tram ride down was really beautiful
This is a wonderful state park. A very nice golf course and a lot of activities for the kids. Also a lot of wildlife especially deer.
This is a beautiful park with many available activities. We first came there in 1978 with our young children and had a wonderful, almost magical, experience discovering this park. We have been back probably about ten times since then. One plea: West Virginia, please put some serious money into upgrading the facilities. There has been very little change in the lodge or the cabins since these facilities were built. (I think the park opened around 1970.) After 48 years they need major upgrades or perhaps need to be totally rebuilt. (It's still a great experience to visit there, but everything that has ever been built anywhere needs to be refurbished once in a while.) Still love this park, though.
Large park with lots of activities for behind outside. Lake, trails, hiking or riding, horseback riding, camping. Lodge had good dining choices and a bar
truly a bit of heaven on earth. Always clean and welcoming with a wonderful staff. Can't wait to get back there.
This park has two pools, horse rides, tram, cabins, campsite, very clean, shelters, playgrounds, worth the drive!!
My husband and I attended a music event here. We stayed at the resort hotel. The view was amazing, service was great and for those with special accommodation needs (wheelchairs) the pool has a ramp, they have the equipment to assist entry and exit to the pool for those unable to walk. However they don't use it often so it was put away, other than that it was awesome. The staff offered to go find it for us so that was enough for us to want to return again. Over all price wise it was affordable and we will go again one day.
Best place to vacation. Old school vacation. Not over commercialized
The park is great. Has a good Car Show in August every year. The management in the park are the best. Something to do at the park for everyone Thanks WV for a fun place to go.
Shocked to see no rhododendrons, azaleas or native plants in bloom. Its a profiting program for the state of West Va. most employees are minimum wage without health benefits. It's a very poor state and Pipestem makes it ever so obvious
This was a fun place to visit. Not too crowded. They have a restaurant you can take a gondola lift to. Everything has a look reminiscent of summer camp with the all wood paneling (which I thought was cool). There was also a ping pong table which of course won me over. But the scenery, quite magnificent!
Beautiful resort, great trails for hiking/biking and ziplines.Don't worry, everything costs extra
Beautiful park! Very friendly and helpful staff. Amazing views, especially for a flat lander like me and my family. Spend the money to take the tram ride down to the lodge and relax by the river
This is by far one of the nicest state parks i have ever been too! Reasonable rates and so much to do!!! Love this place!
Plenty of activities, friendly people. Horseback riding, archery, disc golf, camping, cabins, lodges, a tram that will take you down a mountain to a somewhat secluded lodge along a River.
Pipestem is a fantastic place for hiking, horseback riding, swimming, golf, and a plethora of other exciting activities.
Great park with almost anything you can think of to do and more. Definitely would want to spend a week here when i get the chance! I was hoping for it to be a bit cheaper, everything had a fee. A one time park entry fee i think would work better. With the exception of a few activities.
Awesome place scenery is outstanding! Swimming, Golf, hiking, Horseback Riding, Fishing, Tram Rides, Wildlife Center, Camping an Cabin Rentals...
This is s review of the Pipestem Resort campground only.
This is a lovely campground. Medium size (about 55 sites) with tent sites, pull throughs, full and partial hookups. Their phone customer service is good and organized (often not the case with State parks.)
We arrived late at night, and the ranger/guard greeting us at the park entrance made us feel both welcome and secure. The carved wood map at the entrance to the campground helped us find out site easily.
Bathhouse and laundry room are clean and functional. Showers are made of nice tile and shower curtains are new. Water pressure and temp are both perfect.
Sites are relatively level, each with its own trash can, fire ring, and picnic table. There's a nice playground. Everywhere, a lovely canopy of trees and plenty of room per site.
Staff was lovely. Each morning the ranger/manager rode around in his vehicle/golf cart, assuring that everyone had all they needed and were happy.
We will come back!
Love it lots to do ride a trolley to the restaurant and hotel..ice cream store..Horse back riding ect..
Loved my adventure @Pipestem with my family. We camped, rode horses, shot with bow and arrows and more. I can't wait to go back.
What a breathtakingly beautiful park! My husband and I vacationed nearby for our anniversary and were overwhelmed by the scenic vistas within Pipestem. A definite must see for mountain lovers. Within the park all manner of outdoor activities were available, from golfing and horseback riding to hiking and canoeing. A very nice restaurant is located centrally. Also included are various gift shops for soveniers and gifts. If visiting, the tram ride is a blast! We had so much fun riding up and down the mountain, fully enjoying the view. What a wonderful experience. Almost heaven...
I love Pipestem. I have been here multiple times with friends and family. The best aspect of the resort is the privacy and the peace and quiet. The facilities are a bit dated, but you would expect to pay a lot more per night for more modern accommodations.
Zipline was awesome....you have gotta do it....takes about 4 to 5 hours very nice staff
As always a wonderful time with more to come with the water park later this year. A great place for family reunions or just Family.
Housekeeping one recommendation put the recycle bin next to the trash. We didn t even see it until we were ready to check out.
It's such a relaxing place to go an explor. The tram ride is fun for everyone and they added a zipline to the park, whaaaa. That's my next adventure lol.
As a local, I can only review the indoor pool which my family attends regularly. The water is perfectly warm as well as the atmosphere. Lifeguards are friendly and attentive. Pool will close for safety reasons if there is lightening. Large bathroom with toilet stalls, changing stalls, showers, and sauna. Game room, gym, and snack machines are close by.
I ve been going to Pipestem since I was a kid and it s an amazing experience for kids and adults!!!
The adventure was amazing! Our tour guides Destiny and Trevor were great. I would definitely it again!!!!

Large resort with something to do for everyone. Great views of the canyon
I love this park. I grew up working in this park and now that i live in Florida it has become my vacation destination. Everything you need is here for an awesome wild ,and wonderful west Virginia fun
Such an amazing and beautiful and peaceful place if you go in the evening you can see the horses in the Corral plenty of deer to see along the roadway
This place was great the staff who worked there were very knowledgeable and helpful. They followed all COVID-19 guidelines and even had masks for people who didn t have their own! Hands down a great place for young children to explore.
The zip ine was a great activity. 5 of us went (2 adults and 3 kids) and it was well worth it. 9 zip lines in total, and several were quite long/high/fast. There is a hike at the beginning, certainly less than a mile, where you will exert but the rest is all downhill (pun intended).
Brett and Eli were great guides and I would recommend them to anyone.
Park looks good. I'm here for the I B O archery tournament. Heard zip lining has been added to the park. Among other things.
Loved it, quiet, beautiful. Nice camping for tents and rvs. Loved the canyon, tram, and river
One of my favorite parks in West Virginia. The camp grounds are scenic for both tent and camper camping. Taking the lift down to the valley floor is a real treat for all of the senses. As karst geologist a love watching the karst features of the Avis Limestone pass below me. Also the view from the Pipestem fire tower is just incredible. The scenic walking trails are some my favorite within the state park system.
One of the better parks in the area, but could be one of the best in the region with a few improvements. There aren't many hiking trails and the few there are were overgrown and nearly impassable. There used to be a fishing pier at the boat ramp which has been dismantled. Fishing is generally good in the lake with a boat, canoe, or kayak, or paddle up Bluestone River. There are camping grounds with playgrounds and a swimming pool. Hope to see a few improvements but still worth a visit!
Resort lodge not so good if you re looking for peace & quiet. Walls paper thin. Web-site is a bit misleading also. Thought I was getting a balcony room but was only window room. When I confronted booking desk on the phone she said Oh, I never book online . Rooms are old & dark & no telling what s in the carpet on the floor. This place is over-priced for what it is.
Great place! Wish the splash pad was bigger and more parking up close! Overall we had a wonderful time!
Well maintained, lots of things to do. Great place for get-togethers and camping. The weather was perfect for a change!
Absolutely breathtaking. Went here for a family reunion and even though it rained, it was the greatest time and we all got amazing pictures from the overlook of the mountains.
a lot of fun. worth the drive. The food in the restaurants is also really good.
