Pine Needles Lodge & Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club Review

They have two amazing golf course but the accommodation could use some serious updates

Excellent golf course. Greens were Tif and run pure at around 10-11 stimp. Any faster and this course would be unfair, as the greens have severe run offs and false fronts on nearly every hole.

Very good Donald Ross example and one of my favorites in the area.

The hotel was decent. Badly in need of updates, but cool bar/restaurant, game room, and old timely feel.

Overall, great experience and just a great old Donald Ross course.

Very nice course and layout but had a pretty frustrating day at Mid Pines due to pace of play. 5 hour round and waiting on the tee box for 5 to 10 mins a time really killed the momentum of the round.

Course condition too was a little under par. Tee boxes and fairways could have been better. Fairway on 3 was like a marsh.

Great place for some great golf. Also try the bbq sandwich made in house. Amazing

In my opinion, this already well known course is still highly underrated. I've played many courses in the top 100 public at different levels and Mid pines deserves to be near the top; it certainly would be if it were near an ocean or lake. Beautiful routing and firm conditioning. Tough greens that have to be accounted for in your approach (hard to do if playing for the first time). Fantastic aesthetic. I went back and looked at videos and pictures after playing and even good photos flatten the look of the course. It is much more dramatic in person. Highly recommended.

Paid $150 for 145pm tee time. Course and fairways in bad shape from Winter and would not have played if I knew the condition. No starter or anyone available at first tee to give general instruction on pin placement, etc.

Played horrible and loved every moment of it! This place is DIFFERENT. I have really messed up feet but walked anyways. Really glad I did. What a charming beast! Played 7 of the top courses around Pinehurst and this was probably my favorite:)

This course has a beautiful layout and is an accurate representation of the Donald Ross design. The tee boxes and fairways require some attention, as many of them are poorly manicured. Great course to walk, but it would have been better with a beverage cart given that it was pushing 80 degrees. The course and inn were probably in high demand 20-30 years ago, but they've both been deteriorated by time and a lack of compensatory investment in improvements. Overall, a solid track, but it would benefit from better customer service.

Incredibly fun golf course, a much more relaxed version of its sister course Pine Needles. Always in excellent shape, and the course still holds up to Donald Ross's characteristics.
