Great variety of tools, lumber, hardware, plants, and all well organized. My favorite is they have a Ramone's Bakery inside, a wood stove, free coffee (guessing pre-COVID), and a beautiful garden area, includes large koi fish that you can feed, and cute cat somewhere in the garden.
Electrical department was very helpful. Great knowledge in the tool department as well.
I needed 9 sets of 4 panel doors. I checked the internet and went to Piersons and found their prices competitive. I found a nice set of solid core doors in the samples and I bough one to see how it worked. I got it home and unpacked it. I would swear this set of doors was a second. I returned it and got my doors elsewhere. I suggest if you are buying a door/doors from Piersons that you open the box and look before you take it out of the store. I feel they sell seconds at the good door price.

Prices for Humboldt County are what they are. Pierson's has a great selection with competitive rates. I will say their customer service far exceeds the local Ace on Henderson. And there are plenty of employees seeking out customers to help vise having to search for an employee to assist.
I especially like seeing the local fund raiser bake sells on the weekends, shows that Pierson's cares about supporting these groups.
I also love the old man looking down at the store. My first time seeing him up there, I didn't realize it was a painting!!! Love it :)
Good Golly are these people friendly and knowledgeable. There are ways to beat them on price but think of all the time you're saving and the fabulous new things you'll learn.
My wife does the main shopping here, primarily in the gardening section. We've been doing here for years and have always been happy. They're quick to accept returns for unneeded items and have always been very quick to help when we need it in the store. They just need to accept Amex!!
Refusing to take Back their merchandise, claiming it had been previously installed when I hadn t even opened the box. Obviously they tried to sell me something that had previously been installed. Was a bathroom tub. I decided to go with a larger tub and so i tried to return the one id originally purchased. Poor service and poor management. Buy elsewhere where they ll treat you right
There are always 5-star staff here. The products are decent as well as the selection. They will order other things you may want that they don't carry. The garden center, lumber yard, and main store are well maintained, stocked, and staffed. We've done several remodels with their materials that have turned out really well. So glad we have them in our area.

One of the best stops for whatev you might desire that you would first think of home depot or lowes when shopping, except...
It's not laid out all impersonally line a warehouse warehouse and there people generally get you with a smile and a desire to make sure you have a great shopping experience. They don't just say aisle five without ever looking up to make eye contact and actually enjoy taking you to three produce you're asking about - at prices comparable to three gigantiloid, cold, warehouses.
It's truly a joy, like shopping in a small general store, except it's about as big as those other monolithic, vacant icing that most people generally think of when getting building or gardening supplies, but with the general hardware store items too.

Pierson's building center is a great place to go shopping as far as a one-stop-shop but their prices are pretty sky high for a drill that they have on Amazon and let me just say Amazon does not have the most competitive prices just the most convenient prices and it will be dropped off right at your doorstep was $150 plus tax and on Amazon was 89 dollars plus tax and free shipping. When I asked them if they would price match Amazon they looked at me like I just took a poop in their toilet display and said we don't do that no price matching we'd be out of business. So I bought the drill anyways. I looked at the box and it's a model from 2017 the year is almost 2019 the 2019 model is out and they're still selling it for more than $50 more then almost anywhere else. Their staff is great they're pretty knowledgeable about most things they seem to be the more helpful hardware store around. I would suggest shopping around and comparing prices because you might be surprised.
I always come here, when I visit my daughter. We feed the fish, peruse the plants and buy some to take home to the Mojave! Lots of fun and educational, too!

While most of the staff are helpful they have a few employees that are less then knowledgeabl, especially if you have an out of the ordinary problem. This hardware store has the best selection, even if its a little more expensive.

Absolutely pathetic customer service. Allow me to buy four times the amount I needed of a product. Then refused to except it as a refund so I am stuck with three times more product than I needed will. Great place for just about everything you need. Gardening, a wide supply of flowers not found anywhere else in Humboldt, and a beautiful Koi pond where the kids can feed the Fish.
Those of you who want Walmart/Home Depot prices should stay in your dirty greedy cities and leave Humboldt. Get a sense of community, or go back home. You're all the same tailgaters haggling nickle & diming everyone around you because you're over paid and cheap. I really can't imagine anyone giving this place bad reviews for friendliness or even price. For God's sake you live in the beautiful Redwoods out of the rat race you bunch of greedy self centered idiots. Pierson's employees are the most friendly and artsy hardware/garden store employees I've ever had the pleasure in dealing with. They really go out of their way to help you here. I've been in home stores from Los Angeles to San Francisco and this is by far my best experience of all :)

I love this place. The help is awesome. I usually get asked two or three times if I need any help and help is always right on. I had to just recently order some interior doors and everything went perfect. Eureka is lucky to have such a place. I sure like it alot, way better than Lowe's and Home Depot. Give it a try.

It may be because we have only small hardware stores near home, but we love to stop at Pierson's any time we are in Eureka. The staff is helpful and cheerful. Parking is a mess, but only when they are busy.

Even though they aren't known for their large amounts of discounts, most of the crew are friendly and helpful creatures. You can get almost everything you need for your project in 1place and the establishment is pet friendly. Of course it probably depends on what kind of pet you have. I have not tried wild animals over 130lbs
Pierson's is the place to go for anything repair or replace on your list. They have a well stocked lumber yard, and their garden shop is fantastic to look through and purchase from when you want gorgeous flowers, bushes, trees or seeds to start your own garden. Christmas time is especially fun. They have a great Christmas shop. And many local artists bring their goods to be sold.

I have shopped there many times. But my favorite thing there is their nursery. I am a photographer and they graciously allowed me to take many photos of the flowers they carry. Some of my best work was done there. So many types to splendor at! Their orchid selection is amazing! Stop in and see for yourself!
This place overcharges on EVERY item; most items can be had at Walmart or Home Depot for 1/3 the price that Pierson's charges. If you like to be "pocket raped", then, by all means, shop at this money greedy store.
The citizens of Eureka are learning why Pierson lobbied so hard to keep Home Depot from entering the local market; Pierson failed to stop Walmart, though.
Soon, with Walmart planning a new SuperCenter for Humboldt County, along with Home Depot, the citizens of Eureka will only have to travel a short distance from the Eureka limits to get items at good prices; not a chance Pierson will be able to stop Walmart/Home Depot Center, since they have already purchased land and permits are in process.
If you need home improvement items, look elsewhere or order online. Even with shipping costs, Home Depot is 66% cheaper than Pierson's Ripoff Center!
