It took a lot of bravery for me to go here. I still remember my first night in the dorms, I was so scared. I went here to transition into adulthood and get on my feet. I am so grateful for this program. I wish they had one available for the homeless. It s amazing how they help you and that it s available in the first place. Thank you president Lyndon B. Johnson who came up with this program. I truly felt loved. Like wow, the government loves me for real! I felt cared for and safe for the first time by the clean bed, safe place to be, food, clothing, medical care, along with everything else that is provided. I had never felt safe or provided for in those ways before going here. I learned when to wash and change my bedding, when to shower, and brush my teeth. They basically raised me and gave me what I needed to have a fighting chance. I graduated in 2004 and I still really miss my security instructor Mr. Thomas Bunch. He was a good and kind man who believed in me. He said he would like to see where I would be in life in five years, so I told him I would come back to give him an update. Unfortunately when I came back, I had just missed him. He had retired 3 weeks earlier from a health condition but they would not give me a way to contact him. I will just say, a teacher who cares about you makes the biggest impact and you never forget them. You carry them close threw the gratefulness and love you have for them in your heart in remembering the love and support they showed to you. That s true with any person who show s you love but especially when you needed it the most.
Love you Mr Bunch and Thank you.
