Was really nice to come back to visit after many years. Such a nice zoo. Almost all of the animals were out which was great.
Seeing the peacock out and about with it's keeper was a treat. Such a beautiful bird!
Great walking zoo. We were there for 4 and a half hours and saw about 95% of the zoo. We were taking our time and could have seen the entire zoo if we spent less time at each exhibit. But it's hard not to spend extra time viewing the beautiful animals they house.
Can't wait to go back.
Absolutely amazing place, highly recommend going if you re in the area!!

Went on a Thursday and got tickets for 9:30am. Perfect time to go. I read reviews before going to the zoo and honestly I was nervous about the amount of animals I would get to see. But reading the reviews was wrong for me because I had a wonderful time and I can t wait to go back! Yes some things were closed due to the pandemic but that s understandable. I saw SO many animals so I didn t mind. I had such a great time! Parking wasn t hard to get so many spots when you go early. Restrooms are in the park easy to find. Love how much room the animals have. It is a lot of walking but it is enjoyable cause of the animals and the scenery. They have a gift shop + even food places were open. Also it was awesome to see everyone wearing masks when inside the exhibits when needed, I didn t feel nervous at all because everyone was wearing them. Enough space in the park because it s so big! Been to zoos where they are small. I totally recommend this zoo! It was cool watching the workers fed/clean the animals area. So many animals to be seen at this zoo and you won t be disappointed! I wasn t, I left feeling very happy! Some animals were hard to see because they were either sleeping or due to heat but came back around and saw them later on! Included just some of the animals I saw in pictures. I saw so many animals but don t wanna overflow with photos and let everyone just experience the animals in person themselves! Was reading reviews and people said they didn t see some animals that I saw, maybe it was off day, but so many to be seen!

I this place.

I this place.
It's a great decompressor in these times. In the past month i saw a giraffe running full speed. A rhino baby nursing. An 8 week old giraffe. An elephant playing with her baby.
I've interacted with kind employees.
Seen sights i can't see any other place. There are beautiful shady walks, water features, and unusual plants, tree and birds.
If you can take the tours it would be great because with that money it helps with the maintenance of the animal facilities.
Just a ton of fun!

Excellent place to spend time with the family. The kids have so much fun. I recommend wearing comfortable shoes and backpack with cold drinks. Be early to get a good parking spot and be out before it gets too crowded. Take lots of pictures as the experience is amazing and the little one will love to have pictures to remember. They have a huge variety of animals and they are safely guarded. I recommend this place.

Love this Zoo... Lots of different animals ex: giraffes, hippos, rhinos, monkeys, otters, kangaroos, and Eagles to name a few. I brought the whole family this weekend and we had a great time. Some of the exhibits were closed but we still had a fun time. Love the nostalgia of being the 1st zoo in America. Plenty of photo opportunities but bring a nice zoom lens. Cant wait to go back when everything is at 100%.

After living in Philly for more than 2 years, my boyfriend and I finally made the trip to the oldest zoo in the U.S.!

Part of me really wants to give this zoo 3 stars since many of the exhibits were closed when we visited (it feels like we missed out on 30-40% of what used to be accessible). With the zoo admission and parking totalling ~$67 for 2 adults, we wanted to see more. We spent about 1.75 hours going through the exhibits at a slow pace. Another complaint is that many of the exhibits only showed 1 animal of each type (cheetah, tiger, hippo, boar, and red panda exhibits). I couldn't help but feel that some of the animals were lonely... Still, I wanted to give this place as high of a rating as I could justify so the zoo gets more visitors/adequate funding for the proper care of the animals.

Overall, Philly Zoo isn't the best zoo in the U.S., but the healthy conditions of the animals do show they are being well cared for. Every animal we saw seemed to be well cared for and the environments were very clean. I'd like to see more companions for many of the animals, and look forward to some of the reopening of some of the exhibits the next time we visit!

My kids love going to the zoo. Everyone was wearing masks indoors and there are clear signs everywhere.

The gibbons were especially playful in the morning. During the summer I'd highly recommend you visit in the morning. There's plenty of shade at the zoo, but it's cooler in the morning...

Had the opportunity to visit the Philadelphia zoo on Saturday with My Wife, it was an event funded by Health Partners Plan. We got to enter the zoo for free & spend the day free of charge. There was a scavenger hunt, & a raffle. I saw and took lots of pictures of the Animals. Staff were pleasant, friendly and respectful. We had a great time. Looking forward to our next visit. Maybe next time we'll see more Animals...
