I had fought with Indy Mac (One West Bank) for over 5 years, trying to get some sort of mortgage reduction, HAMP Plan, or principle reduction, as they kept mailing me these advertising offers saying that these plans were available to me, and I was always "Pre-Approved". Well - ha ha ha ! Nope........
All they did was waste my time, month after month, year after year. The bank played every game in the book to keep putting me off. I especially liked their famous line where they say that "you ARE eligible, but must be 3 months late on your payments before they can proceed with the Loan Mod."
So I would stop paying and then call them 3 months later and the same lady would say "oh, you're NOT eligible because you are 3 months late" !!!! Yes, these things really do happen. They played every trick in the book - lost my documents, seemingly never had any paper in their fax machine, sometimes they said they "never heard of me", nor my loan #. Then, they were taken over by the Feds, who immediately lost all my paperwork. Then One West Bank finally bought them and I had to start all over again. I must have literally 9 FEET of document boxes from all of my forms and communications from dealing with these people over the last few years
So I finally almost got totally fed up, and was just going to bail on my house - but I really wanted to keep my home, as I have lived in Vegas for over a decade, and had done a lot of personalized improvements to my home by myself over the last decade. I did not want to move and start over, if I could possibly afford to stay where I was.
I had previously been screwed by another firm who "promised" they would get my loan modified, but all they did was take my money, they did nothing for me, and then skipped town. Nice....
So luckily, last July (2012) someone gave me a referral for Peters & Associates, saying that they specialized in Indy Mac Loan Mods and they knew people who they had helped - that they were the "real deal". So of course, I was suspicious, having gone through all of the above for 5 years, but called up and made the appointment with Xenophon anyway. At that point, I figured I really had nothing to lose, and this was going to be my last attempt to try save my home.
Xenophon was very professional, and clearly explained all my options and the various ways they could help me. I felt very comfortable with him and his entire staff was totally professional throughout the whole procedure. THEY EVEN ACTUALLY CALL YOU BACK !!!! Which, if you have ever dealt with other Vegas attorneys, is a real rarity ;o)
Xenophon, Tony, Tanya, Michelle and all their other staffers were always very knowledgeable and they kept on my case for almost 8 months. They got me a Trial Loan Mod, which I went through, and the bottom line is that they also got me a $249,000 principal reduction (yes, you read it right), lowered my monthly payment by almost $1500, and I did not have to actually reapply for a new loan (my existing one was just modified by just a short document listing the new terms). AMAZING !
I would totally recommend using Peters & Associates for any Loan Mods or Principle Reductions that you need. You will NOT be disappointed. They are very straightforward, knowledgeable and honest - attributes that you do not find in many other law firms here in Vegas. My advice is - go for it - and give them a call. I am living proof that this sort of thing IS ACTUALLY POSSIBLE, when you have the right law firm representing you.
