I recently purchased a product from a company website. The website was great, it provided all the necessary information. The product quality was good, and I received it without any issues. I would recommend it to others.

My review is based solely on the three door hinges used to mount my garage door and recent customer service interaction. Our home is fairly new and has never been cleaned with detergents on this particular door nor siding. These hinges are typically exposed to sunlight for most of the day. It appears the coating on the hinges may be the culprit.

I did speak with customer service and explain the peculiar situation regarding the premature aging; however there was no solution outside from me hunting down said hinges on my own and spending more money looking for these propriety ones.

I ve owned many homes that were quite older than this one. Those homes were cleaned many times by professional power washing companies that even used bleach and never faded nor rusted the exterior door hinges. Based upon my prior experience with personal ownership and working on many properties I would conclude the hinges to be defective.

Going forward, we will ensure our next home builder is to not use Penrod branded hinges. Even the very nice Gentleman at Distributorship hinted these aren t the best in quality.

$300,000+ home that s less than 4 years of age, never thought in all my years American craftsmanship & customer service would suffer to this extent.

We ll be spending more money to replace faulty hinges that are rarely used. That s the kicker, now we ll need to track down said hinges from a Distributor across several towns and spend more money for faulty hinges.

BTW, customer service was very pleasant on the phone but she didn t assist with product ID/PN nor with direct number for Distributor that can assist for my area. When I gave her my city name she drew a blank on closest Distributor. I gave her closest big city and she mentioned a possible name of a business that could help. No number nor part number to reference. I knew right off the bat most Distributors won t be educated in very small intricate hinges. The part numbers should have been identified, I was willing to text/email pic live to help verify the exact one we need.

I get it, it s three small door hinges and not a big deal to many. However, it s more of a pride thing for me. I would never want to hear that a product I sell being defective nor finding out my customer service didn t follow through with home owner finding appropriate replacement parts.

Sincerely,
Average American Dad that still cares
