The original Peet's coffee location is always fun to visit. It's worth coming here just to see where Mr. Peet put out his shingle. I imagine he was still working the counter when I first came here in 1972. The place hasn't changed much in all that time, and the barista that served me was friendly and efficient.

Original Peet's location.. I like taking out of town friends here, but I especially like coming here & sitting outside to enjoy my drink & read.. It's always busy (sometimes it's hard to find a place to sit) & the staff is still super friendly. It's got a nice unhurried "I can finally relax!" neighborhood feel you don't get at the downtown location..
Peet's #1, the founder's original location at Walnut Square, Berkeley... Alfred Peet perfected the selection of outstanding bean varieties, used ideal roasting methods, and created the best toasting coffees available anywhere in the world ! 10 Stars !
Lovely, trendy, local coffee shop just min off Shattuck Ave. Nice decor very unique. Friendly services. Seems mature, academic crowd, classic music. And excellent coffee.
This is a local icon: the very first Peet's ever. In addition to the great coffee you'd expect from a Peet's, it has some memorabilia and good seating to relax or work.
Hey, it's Peet's! It was here that this old Texas boy discovered what good coffee was all about when I started coming here in the mid-seventies. I can remember talking about coffees and roasting with Mr. Peet. Didn't realize for a long time after that, having gone back home, that Peet's had become such a big deal. I now come back here when I travel through the bay area as sort of a pilgrimage and find the present and my memories blend together very nicely.

The mothership, where I had my first coffee at 7, this place is arguably the place from which the design and vibe of all Starbucks around the world were copied. (look up the history of the Peet's-Starbucks connection) This was the place where modern gourmet coffee was born.
I'm from out of town, always hope for some hospitality. Whoever was serving the order out window was having a serious attitude problem. I asked for a little more cream. She seemed very put out. 6/1 12:30pm
Whoa...all these years of coming here and no review...until now. I used to drive down here in the 80's to stock up on coffee and then trek back to Sacramento. It was like a ritual. Now you can find Peet's everywhere, thankfully.
The corner location is like a tourist attraction; while sitting here two young women posed in front of the coffee grinder out in the back. The first Peet's Coffee. The back area, that was once the roasting room, is now like a mini-museum of sorts with lots of photos, a coffee grinder and plenty of space. They could probably add some tables and chairs back here too.
I discovered a secret button on the wall, push it and a video comes on the little flat screen monitor that illustrates the history of Peet's Coffee. Directly across from where the bar stool seating area is!
Peets is a great local institution that has created a country wide brand. This location offers many different roasts of fresh coffee that you can purchase ground or whole, along with typical coffee shop offerings.
Very good Hot Chocolate and friendly service in North Berkeley. Very popular among local residents.Nearby to many other North Berkeley shops and activities.
One of the original Peet's coffees, their espresso is pretty good. There isn't a whole lot of seating is this particular location, but the service is friendly and it's usually pretty crowded no matter what time it is. I'd recommend walking up the street a ways to Philz Coffee.
I love Peet's Coffee, because of it's bold and strong coffee. It's a liquid guarantee that you'll be vibrantly awakened, without worrying about the flavor of your particular flavor of coffee.
There's no bitter or burnt aftertaste and I love the selections of creamers and sweetener choices.
The app gives you the ability to check in and get a free drink after 15 check ins.
They are accepting their own issued rain check which they gave out when they made a mistake or instead of their complementary cup of coffee when you bought ground or whole bean coffee.
Nice store, bad customers. The one eyed lady body shames women and an old man that forces you to give up your seat to listen to his CDs. Staff need to really try to keep the environment more friendly from these rude folk.
Boycott Peet's! Alfred Peet must be rolling in his grave at what has been done to this temple to Berkeley's coffee habit. Now the mother ship has been 'improved' to look like all the other stores in the chain. Feh! For more comments, you can read my review of the Pete's store on Shattuck Avenue.
I was in town visiting. The coffee was absolutely perfect and the baristas were super nice. We made stops here several time throughout the day to get more.
Original location of the first Peet s coffee branch. Prices, selection, and ambience seem to reflect my experience at other Peets . The location has a kind of awkward interior design, which leads to relatively limited seating. Prices seem to be average, but the quality of the beverages pictured (iced red eye and Havana Cappucino) was very good. I will be back if I m in the East Bay
I hear this is the original Peet's. Nice staff and a fast moving line. Busy nearly all the time. Hangout for Berkeley locals and all that comes with that.
