About Path to shine
Path to Shine: A Unique Afterschool Model for Faith Communities
Path to Shine is a non-profit organization that provides a unique afterschool model for faith communities who want to help underserved children. The organization was founded in 2011 by Reverend Susan Pinson and has since grown into a successful program that serves children in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
The Path to Shine program is designed to provide academic support, mentorship, and enrichment activities for children who may not have access to these resources otherwise. The program operates on the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed regardless of their background or circumstances.
One of the unique aspects of Path to Shine is its partnership with faith communities. The organization works closely with churches and other religious organizations in order to provide a safe and supportive environment for children. This partnership allows Path to Shine volunteers and staff members to build relationships with both the children they serve as well as their families.
The Path to Shine program focuses on three key areas: academic support, mentorship, and enrichment activities. Academic support includes homework help as well as individualized tutoring sessions designed specifically for each child's needs. Mentorship involves pairing each child with an adult volunteer who serves as a positive role model and provides emotional support. Enrichment activities include art projects, music lessons, field trips, and other fun activities that help broaden each child's horizons.
In addition to its afterschool program, Path To Shine also offers summer camps where kids can continue learning while having fun during their break from school.
Path To Shine has been recognized by numerous organizations for its innovative approach towards helping underserved children succeed academically while also providing them with valuable life skills such as self-confidence and resilience.
