About Parliamentarians for global action
Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA) is a non-profit organization that aims to mobilize legislators as champions for human rights, democracy, and peace. The organization was founded in 1978 and has since then been working towards promoting international cooperation among parliamentarians from different countries.
PGA believes that parliamentarians have a crucial role to play in promoting human rights, democracy, and peace. One example of how PGA has been successful in mobilizing support is through its work on the International Criminal Court (ICC). In 1998 when negotiations were taking place at Rome Conference which led up-to establishment ICC; Parliamentarian’s involvement was very limited but after years-long advocacy by Parliamentarian’s groups including Parliamentarian’s For Global Action (PGA), ICC came into existence in July 2002 after ratification by enough number states required under Rome Statute which established ICC as permanent court having jurisdiction over crimes against humanity committed anywhere in world regardless whether state party or not; war crimes committed during armed conflict; genocide etc..
