This was a great community College to earn my Associates degree. The credits transferred to all the 4 year colleges I applied to. The classes were small and educational and I especially loved the ease of their online curriculum. But the absolute best thing about Parkland College is all those Pokestops.

I've had some great professors at Parkland. That have been extremely helpful and gone above and beyond to help me. BUT the quality of treatment you get from admissions, advisors, bookstore employees and even some of the financial aid employees is absolutely unacceptable. They are rude and most of the time very unhelpful. Especially in advising and the bookstore. I've picked all my classes and written all the info on them out made sure they were open and didn't overlap in any way, but couldn't register online because you have to have 30 credit hours and I don't. So I speak with an advisor who is BEYOND rude to me, one of the classes had filled since the night before which he huffed and puffed about since we had to then find a different class for me to take. Trying to get books? You better start a month minimum ahead of time l. I've been waiting for the SAME book for TWO WEEKS. When I was told when we filled out the special print form it would take noore than 3 hours. Classes start next week I called to ask about the book again and was told "it'll be here when it gets here"

Now not everyone is this bad but the majority have made my overall experience unpleasant. I am already stressed for next semester and it has even started.

I have been attending parkland college for 3 years for a 2 year degree and it will probably push 4 years. The reason being is because they always drop you from classes last minute and then you cant register for sections that you need until they open up again next semester. I only have 4 classes left in my degree and I keep getting dropped over and over each semester which is wasting tons of time. This semester im only able to take one class because the other one I needed was dropped and others that I might need are either full or were dropped as well. So this will be a wasted semester only for this to probably happen again next time. Also, another thing that really bothers me about this school is how they sell these parkland exclusive one time use books that cost a small fortune. there are no options for buying these books used so you sometimes have to cough up $400+ in books just for one class. In terms of the class environment, the professors and the community are very good and pleasant to deal with. But working with the college each semester is always a huge nightmare that repeats itself every six months. If there is one reason why I want to drop out of college it is because of parkland college. Hopefully one day I will graduate from this dumpster fire, but the light at the end of the tunnel seems to keep moving further and further away.

I've only taken one class here, but this community college is definitely above average. The professor I had and the facility I was in were good, but the online system (Cobra) is absolutely atrocious. Doing homework and finding due dates on that information system was impossible. Definitely a mixed bag, here.

I know Parkland is reeling from covid and they had to let a lot of employees go but it feels like they needed some of those folks. Normally I have no problem getting help. Recently however, even trying to get a hold of someone has been similar to pulling teeth. I hope Parkland adapts and hopefully hires some of its people back now that the tuition money is flowing again.
