Buyer beware - do not be fooled into thinking things are above-board because they are a Home Depot contractor. Exactly the opposite. I suspect Home Depot is not aware what this company is billing their customers, because Home Depot is so big. I had this company do an install on a Home Depot stand-up shower. For starters, for the week they spent at my home, they never once showed up on time. In fact, on one day, their foreman told me they were late because one of their employees had his truck impounded by the Police. They averaged 2 hours-4 hours late, every time. The contract for their work I signed indicated "All labour will be at $75 per hour, plus materials". What they did not tell me, was that this is per hour PER PERSON ON-SITE. They tried screwing me over for 40+ hours of labour when they spent a total of less than 18 in my home. Nothing like a $4800 bill for a $600 shower. Yes, there was additional work required - which is where the 18 hours of total time spent at my home came from, plus around $450 of material. However, they charged me $75 per person, per hour. In addition to that, they also charged me $75 per hour DRIVING TIME. Be very, very careful if you are considering using this contractor or Home Depot to do work. I would recommend retaining a lawyer to review their contract and spell it out. They word their contract in this manner to fool you into signing and then paying $150-$225 an hour. In the end, once I indicated I would retain legal counsel, Paramount relented and discounted approx $1000 off the bill. The simple fact that they would initiate a knee-jerk solution to this usury indicates they were overbilling fom the start. I still ended up playing at least $1500 too much, but I just wanted to be done with it. At the time of this posting, I have contacted Home Depot Cambridge and they are investigating. As for the dispute, I have retained all the emails, contracts, and responses on file as proof.
