Do not even consider Palmer Group. Stay away from...

Do not even consider Palmer Group. Stay away from THE PALMER GROUP. They will not submit resumes of anyone who is unemployed. I was told by two of their "recruiters" that my resume will not be submitted because I was unemployed and they have to keep their files current with people who they can place.

I was laid off my job over a year ago due to downsizing. I've been taking classes to get another degree in the hopes of making me a more desirable candidate. I had applied for several positions and was called in for an interview to fill one of those positions. I came in for the interview, took the tests (scored very high), and talked to three people. During the interview with the third person, she told me she would not submit my resume because I was unemployed. I pointed out that I was called for an interview to fill an open position that was advertised. She asked which position it was and when I told her, amazingly that position had already been filled. She repeated her statement of not submitting my resume and that she only considers employed people because they "have something to lose...a job."

I reported this to her superior who defended the recruiter's statement and said, "We can't find jobs for everyone". I reported it to upper management and to the owner of the company, but have been ignored. I wish I could list the names of the "recruiters", but I could be open to a lawsuit should I name those persons involved in my experience. I did talk to an attorney, but was told that unless someone at the Palmer Group backs up my account of what happened, I don't have much chance of proving my case.

This is a lesson learned. On a positive note, I've had good luck with other staffing agencies in Des Moines. Don't judge all staffing agencies by Palmer Group. There are good ones out there that will actually help you find work.

My experience with Palmer Group has me seriously questioning the authenticity of these positive reviews. When I met with the Palmer counselor, I was told they had two or three job opportunities that would work for me despite my somewhat limited job skills. I was led to believe I would have a job within a few days. Oh well, I guess the joke is on me because I went home that day and did the laundry and cleaned the house so everything would be done before I started the new job. I even went so far as to wash the bedspreads and throw rugs. I never got a job, not even an interview, but my laundry is done and the house is clean. Thank you, Palmer!

I have worked with Palmer Group twice in the past two times that I have wanted help finding a new job. Interviewed by a member of staff on both occasions, told to keep looking and they would call. Never heard a peep from them afterwards. I would also apply to jobs they listed online and they would never call and if I called them they said that the position had already been filled. No help whatsoever. With that being said, all the people I worked with there were friendly but not much else.

I was extremely impressed with my experience at Palmer Group. I interviewed with another staffing agency a couple days then a couple days later Sarah with the Palmer group reached out to me. She had a position she wanted me to interview for. I did and I started working the following Monday. When this position ended she had me interview for another position. I was hired for this position. I would still be with Palmer had they had openings in my area. Great company to work for and Sarah has great people skills and matching the employees with the right position.

My experience with them was not good. They didn't reach out to me to initiate anything, rather I had to be very proactive searching their listings regularly and contacting them to inquire about potential matches. The person I was working with didn't do much to help me - no constructive feedback, no questions about how I felt things were going, and no follow up. Any contact that I had was initiated by me. Worse, when I didn't get a response to an important email I followed up with another and the individual claimed that they responded, but didn't. This happened two or three times.

I ended up finding a job on my own and I did better without them. I couldn't say if the whole agency is this bad or if it's just the person I was dealing with. I used Robert Half after losing confidence in The Palmer Group and they were far better. I ended up getting a job on my own but Robert Half was more communicative and supportive. Job searching can be tough and sometimes you need support and guidance. I got absolutely nothing from The Palmer Group and I wouldn't recommend it.

My experience with Palmer Group was very weird. Though I did have certain restrictions on how far I could travel for assignments due to other responsibilities. I felt as if I wasn't being accommodated properly. I was called about assignments weekly. If I showed interest in an assignment I was instructed to check my email and fillout certain forms. I always followed every instruction that was given. Once I would call back the next business day to follow-up some how I didn't respond quick enough & the position was given to someone else. Mind you I would get on my email promptly after every phone call to complete & submit every form. Also when I would be presented with two opportunities at one time, everytime I was more interested in one more than the other the recruiter would always try to convince me to take the opposing opportunity. I haven't heart from Palmer Group in almost four week. I interviewed & tested back in early April 2017. I still haven't ever got an assignment. What sucks most is I personally know other people that applied around the same time & after I did, they all have jobs through Palmer Group making $15/hourly +. The majority of them have criminal backgrounds & poor employment history (no pun intended). I don't have either but some how couldnt get one job.

Very impressed with their efforts! Palmer Group was very professional and I felt like I was one of their top priorities. They got me an interview at an organization and I had a job offer in about a week. I am very appreciative of their efforts and have already referred other candidates to their company. It is definitely worth your time to interview with them! #palmergroupisawesome

I used to work for Palmer over the summer for an agriculture research company. At first I loved the company and then all of a sudden it went down hill out of nowhere. There were multiple situations where people had problems with their time cards and when it finally happened to me and tried to say something my boss ended up making me look like a terrible employee and told my recruiter that I was confrontational when all i did was ask a question as to why my time card was altered. Then when I try to inform my recruiter what was happening she didn't believe me and told me that Palmer would no longer be needing my services. I tried reaching out to another recruiter about what happened but never heard from her. Then the company I worked for didn't process my time and on purpose and tried to alter my hours YET AGAIN. On top of that I didn't receive the hourly wage I was suppose to and the recruiter made up a invalid excuse as to why I was not receiving the amount that I was supposed to receive. For a company that claims to be about their employees they sure know how to kick you to the curb without a blink of an eye.

Thanks to the Palmer group I was placed in a contract position with a large company, doing work I love. After five months I am happy to say I have become a FTE. Thank you Palmer for all you did for me. One note: I think you can do better keeping in touch with candidates that are not placed. Once I filled out the application and had a phone screen I did not hear from anyone unless I called in. Keeping candidates informed is important even if nothings changed.

The Palmer Group treated me very well. The recruiter took the time to talk to me, work with me on my resume and help me find the job that fit me perfectly. It didn't happen overnight but that means he didn't just want to get me in a position to get the fee but that he wanted me and the company to get the right fit out of the deal. I had a great experience and would recommend them to anyone.

Palmer Group is the best staffing firm I have ever come across. It's seemingly a prerequisite that you be kind, personable, and incredibly gifted to work there. I worked with Jessie Boll, who had a natural ability to pick out Performance vs. Potential after just one conversation.

The career path I'm on now couldn't be better.

Needless to say, I definitely recommend Palmer Group.

She was very responsive with questions and followed through with every step through the interview process while offering advise and guidance.

I highly recommend the Palmer group for anybody who is looking for for jobs out there ; for i truly appreciate what they have done for me!

Front desk lady was distracted and uninterested. Jaci conducted my initial interview; she was very unfriendly, bored, and didn't know what an internship was. Took my tests on an old, outdated keyboard which I noticed not everyone had. Supposedly not qualified for anything they had open, although I possess plenty of relevant experience and education, and I was qualified according to what they posted as job openings/descriptions/requirements. Clearly looking for certain types of people according to their own agenda. Gross waste of two and a half hours for absolutely nothing except a self esteem bashing which I didn't need.

The Palmer Group is most proactive employment agency in greater Des Moines, maybe the state. The Palmer team of Sarah Assman and Mike Bringle do a great job of matching career opportunity (both full time and part time) with career aspirations. I found Sarah and Mike to be professional, genuine and diligent in finding me an opportunity that matched my aspiration and skill set. Sarah s coaching and feedback was spot on, and much appreciated.

My recent experience with Palmer Group has exceeded all expectations. When I needed help during an unexpected job transition, I spoke with several people, agencies, and directly applied for a handful of jobs. It was Palmer that clearly was most consistent in serving and believing in me. They helped convince me to interview for an opening while simultaneously working with the employer client to give me a chance. They could see my potential and proved why they are the leader in the greater Des Moines area in their industry. Thank you Willow and Josh! I look forward to sharing more of my future successes that are a direct result of your faith in me and doing your jobs to the highest professional level. It really is about "your people" and I am grateful to be included!!

After graduating from college in 2016, and moving back home, I found Palmer Group to be an excellent source in helping me find a position as a contractor with Wells Fargo. My recruiter, Sophia Godfrey, was spectacular in helping me with resume reviews, and interview prep! My contract terminated in July as I was hired on as a full time employee with Wells Fargo, and I owe it big time to Sophia and Palmer Group as a whole!

Fresh out of college I initially had a tough time finding work. I applied for a position that Palmer was advertising for and they did a quick phone interview with me. Later they contacted me about a different job but still sounded interesting a relevant to my major. Although it was a contract position, they assured me that the company does all they can to hire internally when positions open up. I was a little skeptical that a permanent position was a strong possibility, but I have now accepted a permanent position after working at the company for 4 months. Palmer Group was easy to work with, often followed up to see how your work was going, and even treated me to lunch.

I had a truly wonderful experience working with Stephanie McEnaney. She reviewed my resume and asked me to come in shortly after I submitted it. After speaking with her in person I had an interview with one of their clients within a week and am starting with an amazing opportunity less than two weeks after our initial conversation. I would highly recommend working with the Palmer Group and Stephanie in particular. Thank you for this incredible opportunity!

I worked with The Palmer Group to find my current job and had such a great experience working with them. I was referred to them by a friend and was immediately impressed by how personable and helpful they were. I submitted my resume to Nick and within a matter of a couple days I was able to meet with him in person to talk through what I was looking for. He provided assistance with how to better highlight my work experience and answered my questions about how the process of going through a recruiting company works. Working with The Palmer Group made my job search much less stressful and I was very quickly called for an interview and then a follow up interview that resulted in the job offer with my current employer. I'm very happy with the move I made in my career and should I ever find myself in the market for a new job again in the future, I would absolutely work with them again.

No communication or followup from them. At all. VERY unprofessional.

I reached out to Palmer Group to find out more on a position they had posted. They were very eager and quick to get me in for an interview, which can be tricky while employed, but I get in the next day to meet with them.

I had a 30 min interview with Jessie Boll, which went very well. She was easy to get along with and appeared to know a lot about the client they were filling a position for.

During the interview, we both agreed that I would be a great fit for the position. She gave me a little homework to do after I left, which was to bring up the full job description and respond to all the requirements and expectations with my abilities and experiences.

Jessie emailed me the complete job description the next day which I completed that same day and emailed back to her. She responded fairly quickly to double check on my date of birth and that was it.

That was the LAST time I ever heard from Jessie Boll and Palmer Group.

The email was sent over the weekend, so I waited till the following Tuesday to reach out to make sure they had what they needed from me. NO RESPONSE.

Not very professional at all. Palmer is in the business of people and not doing the bare minimum to maintain relationships is VERY poor business and just poor communication in general.

Next, after approximately 2 weeks (first followup email I sent was on 11/26/14...no response to that) I emailed again just as a courtesy followup and to maybe get some answers. That email was sent on 12/9/14. Guess what? Yep, you guessed it. No response.

Theres a lot of recruiters out there these days and a lot of them are very good a what they do. After all, they make money when you make money, so generally they work hard for you as they have a vested interest in you.

Not so much with Jessie Boll and Palmer Group.

I had a very pleasurable experience with Palmer Group. I worked with Abby and she was very good with communication and relaying information to me as she got it. I was up to the wall with deadlines and she worked with me to get it done. Even after hiring on, she was quick to help me with non-job related questions like places to live, things to do, and how to acclimate myself to a new city.

A great group of people that have your interest in mind. I owe a great deal of thanks to the whole group, but especially with Matt. He proactively looked for many opportunities that would match my skill levels and found some that were a bit of a stretch. I ended up in a position that was a stretch, but because of his team and help prepping my resume and interview, I landed the job, and have been there for over 3 years.

It wasn't a relatively quick process, but that was because they were looking for the best possible position that was truly right for me, not just to fill any random position. I would recommend them to anyone who is searching and is in need of some talented watchful eyes to aid in the process.

I'm another candidate that had a poor experience with Palmer Group.

I was looking to relocate to DSM from out of state and found a job I thought I might be a fit for on Palmer Group's website (this was a Palmer Group employee position, not a third party job). After submitting my resume, an agent called me to set up an in person interview (not a single screening question was asked during this conversation). I mentioned that I was currently living out of state and was told that they could not do phone interviews for this position. I was very interested, so I booked a trip to DSM to interview.

Upon arriving at the Palmer Group office, I was told that the woman I was supposed to be interviewing with was busy and that someone else would chat with me. I then spoke with a recruiter, and she did the standard screening questions. It was a wait before the hiring manager came to meet with me. It appeared that she had debriefed with the recruiter before coming in to see me, because all she said is "You don't have the specific experience we're looking for, but we'll keep your resume on file." I tried to go into my spiel about how my other experience is relevant, and she went on to tell me about how they need the specific experience and there's no way around it. I expressed that it was a shame that this wasn't established prior to my coming in for the interview (and traveling 1000+ miles!), and she said "sometimes a candidate has experience that isn't reflected on a resume, so we wanted to chat with you about your qualifications." I was left dumbfounded: the screening couldn't have happened over the phone?!

Unfortunately, Palmer Group wasted my time and money (spent on travel costs) and left a very sour taste in my mouth. Perhaps I'm at fault for pursuing the opportunity without having more specific conversations first, of course, but I went on to find a job through another local staffing firm that took the time to get to know me and valued me as a person and a candidate.

I would highly recommend working with The Palmer Group. I had a wonderful experience working with Erik Gramenz. He went above and beyond to help me in my job search. He made sure each potential job opportunity matched my skills, experience, and interests well. I really enjoyed working with Erik. I moved to Des Moines in 2011 without having a job lined up ahead of time. A friend recommended The Palmer Group. Palmer found a position for me that aligned with my skills and salary expectations in less than a week. The position was temp-to-hire which is what I wanted. I was very impressed, and even though I've since moved out of state, I still recommend Palmer to those in Des Moines.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Cheryl. From the beginning of my job search I did get to work with Daphne and Deidra as well. All three ladies were wonderful from the start, listening to what I was searching for in a career and working hard to get me in contact with potential employers. In the end, it was Cheryl that found me the position I had been searching for and since my interview she has kept in contact with me, kept me updated, and followed up on every detail to make sure I had what I needed moving forward. I can't thank you enough, Cheryl, and the rest of the team for all your hard work in helping me find a position that fits my needs perfectly!

I've been in contact with Palmer Group for a year and a half now, and I have had nothing but great experiences from assisting me in finding a position to anything I've needed since I've been contracted with them. Also, Abby at Palmer Group has been a great help! Palmer Group is efficient in helping their clients...

Palmer Group is efficient in helping their clients to find employment and worked with them to provide necessary documentation for employment authorization.

As an international student, looking for employment in the U.S. proved to be difficult. After I graduated from Drake University in Dec 2015, my recruiter Stephanie was quick to find me a position in just a few weeks time. I started as a temp at Wells Fargo since Feb 2016 and eventually being hired on full-time in Nov of 2016. Unfortunately Wells has a policy that they no longer provide documentation for the extension of my work permit (STEM OPT). Due to the expiry of my original work permit, I left Wells Fargo in early 2017.

Fortunately, Palmer Group was quick to provide documentation required to extend my work permit (STEM OPT) for an additional two years. My new employment authorization card was approved, thanks to Palmer. When I left Wells, another Palmer recruiter Cheryl reached out to me and asked if I would like to interview with Global Atlantic for a Product Support Analyst position. I declined at first, because at that time I was going to take on a contract work with another staffing company that I found interesting.

However, the project with another staffing company was suddenly being put on hold indefinitely. Cheryl checked in with me again and asked if I like to interview again since GA is still hiring. I said yes. After that, I went through two rounds of interview with GA and eventually got offered a position through Palmer.

I would like to thank my recruiters Stephanie and Cheryl for being dedicated and never give up towards helping their clients.

I had a wonderful experience with The Palmer Group! I was nearing the point of very tough times, after being unemployed for a couple months and having no luck hearing back from employers.. Derek Nelson was very quick to respond after I put my resume in for one of his maintenance technician openings. He called and talked to me on the phone the next day and then asked me to come in to the office. After sitting through an interview with him, he had figured out my personality and challenged me to broaden my career path and focus more on a management role. He put me through a set of interviews with my current employer and made suggestions on how to ace each interview. I received an offer as a production supervisor after one week. Derek you are a lifesaver! I am truly grateful for the business you did with me!

It wasted me too much time!!!!
Two of my friends introduce the Palmer Group to me. I trust my friends. then, I contacted the Palmer. The agent in Palmer group treated me very nice in the first week. Started with the second week, I tried to call her, and she always say she will send my Resume to work position. And when I asked her about work position, she always response me as same as last time. She always said she will help me to send my Resume there, and then, she always told me the position was full. She told me there was work position started at March, and she said send my Resume to department. But I called her 2-3 days ago, she answered me that she will send my Resume again.(something like that). It took me long time, also made me feel very upset. I tried to said I wanna change another agent in Palmer, but it's not allowed. I felt they are not very responsibility to person. I am disappointed with that bad experience!
