Do not even consider Palmer Group. Stay away from THE PALMER GROUP. They will not submit resumes of anyone who is unemployed. I was told by two of their "recruiters" that my resume will not be submitted because I was unemployed and they have to keep their files current with people who they can place.
I was laid off my job over a year ago due to downsizing. I've been taking classes to get another degree in the hopes of making me a more desirable candidate. I had applied for several positions and was called in for an interview to fill one of those positions. I came in for the interview, took the tests (scored very high), and talked to three people. During the interview with the third person, she told me she would not submit my resume because I was unemployed. I pointed out that I was called for an interview to fill an open position that was advertised. She asked which position it was and when I told her, amazingly that position had already been filled. She repeated her statement of not submitting my resume and that she only considers employed people because they "have something to lose...a job."
I reported this to her superior who defended the recruiter's statement and said, "We can't find jobs for everyone". I reported it to upper management and to the owner of the company, but have been ignored. I wish I could list the names of the "recruiters", but I could be open to a lawsuit should I name those persons involved in my experience. I did talk to an attorney, but was told that unless someone at the Palmer Group backs up my account of what happened, I don't have much chance of proving my case.
This is a lesson learned. On a positive note, I've had good luck with other staffing agencies in Des Moines. Don't judge all staffing agencies by Palmer Group. There are good ones out there that will actually help you find work.
