A perfect place to attend to for when you wish to experience the joys of stage entertainment where you get more emotions from really listening to the human voice and for being a part of the reactions of the audience so you can really express what your thoughts are. If you want to be entertained during a sense of nostalgia this is the place, as it takes you back in time from the architecture and its written history, and if you do not feel nostalgic then it can give you the trigger and make you wonder.
The staff there appreciate the audience as the do with the setting.
Before you enter into the actual theatre there is a piano player already there intensely playing beautiful tunes which help get your mind ready for the show and makes you feel welcome as a guest and a friend.

Black Coffee: 17th March 2014.
I have seen a fair number of plays adapted from Agatha Christies stories and generally have enjoyed them all. Black Coffee last night though was the best of the bunch. From the total professionalism, yet obvious enjoyment, of the actors, to the wonderfully atmosphere of the art deco one-room scene for the entire play, everything was perfect. The lighting, the stage, the ambiance, the clarity of speech, the wonderful 1920's costumes, even the sometimes amusing accents, all were of the highest quality. The superb Robert Powell gave us his own interpretation of Hercule Poirot, which I viewed as a combine based on the Peter Ustinov and Albert Finney versions, while Eric Carte and Robin McCallum took their portrayals of Japp and Hastings straight from the long running TV series, ensuring that we had a night which gave us the best of the many adaptions of Christie's penmanship. It was really nice to see the lovely Liza Goddard again, and to hear Gary Mavers struggle with and effectively defeat the Italian accent brought an unexpected additional lightness to what was actually a murderous plot of true evil villainy.
The Palace Theatre is a friendly establishment that deserves to be well supported by the local community. Thankfully last night's performance was virtually sold out, not bad for a Monday night. There are many plays and shows at the Palace throughout the year, as well as at the Dixon (used mainly by local amateur dramatic societies), so there is always something for everyone at one time or another. It is always a pleasant night out and my wife and I are happy to visit as often as we can.

Small and friendly theatre. Avoid upper circle as it's quite restricted viewing, as are to a lesser degree all circle rows past first one.
Downstairs close to stage and all great seats.
Park up the road in pay and display, or try to find a space on residential streets.

The Palace Theatre is a small local theatre that entices some very good productions and actors. It is very welcoming and as it is small, it also has the intense feeling that larger places cannot reconstruct. It has a bar on the ground floor, which I did find was quite expensive, but nevertheless the overall experience was very good.

It's easy to book online. I printed the tickets online so went just straight to the right theatre. The experience for the kids plays was amazing! It was also a little interactive so the little ones loved it. Definitely recommend. Also, the last time we attended there were seat boosters to rent for the kids to seat higher.

disappointed, I'm 6'7" and no way i could fit in the seat, my friend is only 5'7" and his shins were up against the seat in-front.spent second half standing at the rear. Aside from that I went to see Jethro who I've loved for years but out of a near 2 hour show minus break in the middle then at least half was a singer who was pub karaoke at best and not what I went to see. In the past, comedians have a comic warm up act, don't know why the singer was there other than to pad out the show, wont be going here again just because of the seating alone. guess ill be restricted to events at the cliffs instead.

Lovely old theatre, from early last century. You cam imagine the old music hall entertainment being played out there as well as the classics. Great accoustics. A theatre with atmosphere. All seats have good view.
