The rooms are definitely dated. Old carpets and furniture reminiscent of the 70s and 80s. The maid could do better vacuuming. The tables have staining as well as cracks in the bathroom vanity. I will say the shower is large and was surprisingly clean. Just expected more for a pricier hotel. My door wouldn't even open properly, had to shoulder it open.
It was okay. Easily could have been better with a little more attention / care by the staff. I say that because: the toilet leaked (drip, drip, drip every few seconds all night), the clock is EXTREMELY bright, the shower wouldn't drain (see pictures), was woken up by the elevator going up and down with everyone leaving in the morning (not from buttons or people, but from the car and cables moving). The Tesla chargers are locked up, despite the person on the phone saying they are open to non-guests. (And they lock you in as well). Otherwise, it was a decent stay. Lost a star because of the misinformation about the chargers and photo I used as reference are inaccurate since they didn't show them chained up. Lost a star because of the drain by itself, and one from the lack of concern by the staff when discussed both of those topics with them. They just have their process about the chargers, (got the "not my job" feeling) and it was just an "oh no" response about the drain when checking out in the morning.
I've stayed here a couple of times and it's always a nice and comfortable place in a good location near Texas Tech University and a number of area restaurants. Parking is easy and plentiful and you can walk to dinner or eat in their restaurant if you like. Will stay again.
Nice hotel with excellent service. I just felt like the price was a smidge higher than what you get. The main areas are super nice with a pleasant employee ready at the entrance to carry our suitcases from the car to the room for us. I really appreciated how hot the shower water could get along with great pressure. The room was very clean! Prime location with tons of food options close by. The beds, sheets, pillows, and shower towels were good, but nothing exceedingly above average. Overall very nice!!

It s a great location stayed for a wedding. Our room wasn t ready to check in until 5:15pm and we had intended to get ready at the hotel before the wedding so this very frustrating. Because if this I finally told them to just put us in whatever room was ready instead of the 2-room king suite which we had booked. We got a standard double queen room, but they still tried to charge me for the king suite. I corrected them and they corrected their mistake quickly. The elevators must not have been functioning properly because we had to wait 25 minutes to get down at check out. We were not able to just take the 15 flights stairs due to having babies with us and luggage. Concierge at the front of the hotel proceeded to not help me with the luggage cart when my husband went to get the pick up. I was nice and courteous about everything but I am a little bitter about the cost of the hotel and the service we didn t receive. I ll be staying at the Cotton Court next time.
Comfortable beds, all amenities needed! Have a room service breakfast you can order the day before which is super convenient! Also easy to schedule the shuttle to/from the airport!
We have been staying at the Overton since 2016 while visiting our boys at Texas Tech we have always enjoyed our stays at the hotel. This weekend was a bit different the service in the bar was awful It was a big weekend at Texas Tech for Alumni weekend you would think they would have plenty of staff to handle the crowd they had one maybe 2 bartenders extremely slow serves. As my husband and I were leaving the bar to head up to our room an employee chased us down wanting to know if we skipped our tab??? After the numerous amount of times we have stayed there and the amount of money we have spent at the hotel over the years what an insult! You get better service at the Marriott Courtyard.
The hotel room is neat and clean. I specifically asked for a quiet room and was politely accommodated. The hotel is near a college campus, within walking distance you can go out and eat at a few franchises. The best place to eat at is Torcy Taco. The prices are reasonable and the food is good.
I have been meaning to write this review for awhile. My husband and I are Texas Tech alumni. Our son graduated from there last May. We have been staying at the Overton for every one of our trips to Lubbock. You can not beat the location. The staff there are very accommodating. I love when we arrive the front desk greets us with a smile and always welcomes us back. The rooms are clean and the food and drinks are great! I want to highlight three very important people there that always made our stay exceptional. Tom and Mary Beth, from reservations, and Tony from the bar! Thank you so much for taking such good care of of us! We will be back very soon!
