I can assure you if you care about your child you will be extremely disappointed with this school. Dealing with the revolving door of teachers and administrators has been sickening and beyond frustrating. I ve let my child down enrolling him here. If you are looking forward to a progress report or report card forget it, it doesn t happen here. The FSA was delayed every day with a different excuse. You can t access your kids grades ever. No one returns calls teachers don t reply to emails. I felt like I was dropping off my kid to a hang out. It should be shut down and locked up. No kid should be there.

My children and I have been a member of the OCPA community since its beginning. As such, we ve seen the school make some great strides, especially over this last year in particular.

Yes, OCPA does have its positives and negatives, like any other school might. But OCPA s very accessible administration and small classroom sizes lend a very personal touch to each child s learning experience. The principal, Mr Higgins, and fellow administrator, Mr Austin, have been consistent and dedicated contributions to OCPA s improvement this year. Under this new leadership, I have seen more new programming such as organized athletic teams with winning records, various educational/STEM nights, and fun field days, just to name a few that I ve personally participated in.

I believe the structure and culture that Higgins and Austin have instilled have grown the school s support staff and allowed for some great momentum this year. For that, I give OCPA 4 stars. With only more improvement in OCPA s future, I am sure that it will earn the 5th star sooner than later!

I moved to Orlando from Maryland this past August. The local public school designated for my daughter did not work with my schedule at the time, so I turned to Google and found OCPA. I'm so glad I did.
My second grader is thriving with the small class sizes and individual attention. She has specials like Spanish and technology she enjoys that she would not get in public school. Her teacher is very hands on and open with communication.
I recently moved to a location where the public school is very close and the schedule works with mine. Since my daughter is doing so well, I had to think about it.
I went to the office to discuss school placement and the principal, Mr. Higgins was extremely accommodating and informative. He explained the teaching methods utilized at OCPA, benefits of small class sizes, the STEM emphasis and gifted program. I could see he was passionate about the school and had an extensive background in education.
I now drive my daughter 20-30 minutes so she can continue to attend OCPA. That's how much I believe in this school for her.

Its horrible The students don't get a education and food is horrible.
The school makes kids feel bad for something they didn't push on them.
The rules are ridiculous and you get a write up for not having an ID or for
wearing a dress code violation jacket even if it's cold. This school should be closed down.

the small school environment makes the connection with teachers to students stronger and more personal. This being said, it gets easier to feel that the teachers that you DO connect with care about you and your education.

My family and I just moved to Orange County from Northwest Florida in early December. By the middle of the month, we were becoming acquainted with Orange County Preparatory Academy. I have two perspectives I can share about OCPA. One is that of a parent and one is of a teacher.

As a parent, the school has been fantastic for my second grader. He has some social and sensory issues and the school has addressed these beautifully. Staff works well together to address not only the needs of my child, but of the other children in his class. The small class size has been, in my opinion, one of the many factors that are contributing to his successful transition. Other factors that set my child and me at ease are the great relationships teachers have with their students, the way administration knows the children by name, and the sense of wonder and enjoyment that the curriculum and activities bring to students. It has been awhile sense I have seen so many children LOVE learning.

As a teacher, I can honestly say that I feel so supported here by parents, peers, and administrators. This sets me at ease and makes me feel more comfortable teaching students in ways that are engaging and innovating. After a decade in education, I finally feel that I am among people that will encourage me to push my students to reach their potential while also pushing me to reach mine.

Thanks OCPA for making us feel like a member of the family!

The teachers were good and the school was good but they had 5 principals in 4 years which means that there's something wrong with there school or the people. BTW, shout out to Mrs. Kaye, and Mrs. Ewing, Matthew Hanecack, Jason Stephenson, Joshua Simmons, and Justin Jordan.

This school is a joke of a school. I signed my daughter up for their prek and within the first quarter they fired the prek teacher who was a 10. Best teacher I have ever met and I also have an 11 year old. They fired her because she wasnt able to work two jobs at a single pay. This school cant keep an employee. Different principles each year and no stability. Prek teachers are a childs first teacher. The first person the trust outside of home and the school ripped her out of the kids lives as if that wasnt emotionally devastating for them. They weren't given the opportunity to say good bye. Stay clear of this school.

Horrid school! I came from Oviedo which has grade A schools thinking that a charter school who preachers about STEM being a huge focus, it was a bunch of crock. The Principle never returned my emails or calls EVER and I wasn't rude or unprofessional, I just wanted to raise my concerns about my sons experience and his teachers lack of communication skills with the parents. Nope, never bothered to contact me. My son has a focus issue so he needs extra time to finish his assignments. I did not get a meeting with the guidance counselor until the first week of November in which I later found out my son was being spent to other class rooms as a punishment for not focusing on his work. Sometimes to a grade lower sometimes to a grade higher and when I found out, my son verified it was true and he said it was always for an hour. So my son was sitting in other grades classes rooms learning nothing for 1 hour out of the days when he wouldn't finish his school work. His teacher was a huge mess. He didn't seem like he was organized and had a hard time expressing himself to me when I would ask him about homework and classroom assignments so I could only imagine how the kids couldn't understand him either. Many parents have removed their kids from this school already and we are in November. Many children have also been tested by their new schools and have been told that they are academically behind. One child has to now take 2 math classes in order to move onto middle school. One child was pinned down during P.E. by a bully and no adults were around to see it. My son witnessed bullies in his classroom picking on other kids and said his teacher wouldn't do anything. The classrooms are VERY VERY TINY. It feels like sardines in a can. The walls are plain. There is nothing appealing about this school for children. No colors anywhere and a play ground that's for toddlers only. The parents were extremely rude during the drop off line which is another hot mess. I witnessed a mom screaming at the top of her lungs at her son which made all the kids stop and stare at him. She was pushing him and hitting him in front of the kids and the aftercare girls didn't really know how to handle the situation. The entire experience was a complete nightmare!!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL!!! Seminole county Oviedo school are a thousand times much more organized, caring, proactive, involved than this school. Just stay away, stay FAR FAR AWAY!!

In the two years my daughter attended this public charter school, she had 3 principals and 5 different teachers. The education process struggles due to the lack of continuity There is way too much turnover of admin and teachers. Quality teachers never stay at OCPA more than 1 year and usually leave for public school jobs that offer retirement benefits. Ownership needs to get their act in order.

Teachers do not teach, then lie on student in a parent/teacher meeting. When report card are released they change up everything that was said in the perant/teacher meeting. Trying to put blame on the parent. Other parents warned us. Now we get to see what they do with children first. Horrible school.

I mean, it was decent, but it started to fall apart. Teachers are okay but administration isn't. Some teachers aren't that nice, and and some of the kids are slightly rude. I don't highly recommend this place unless you came from a really poor school. It's a last resort really.

There's a new Principal in town, Mr. Jeff Higgins.
Honestly, he inherited a huge mess, but his dedication and hard work are undeniable. The school still not perfect, but Mr. Higgins has been working non stop to get all solved, and from a parent's perspective, he is doing a good job. He is firm with the kids without being harsh, he is very helpful and polite to all parents and expect nothing less than the best effort from his staff. I see the school becoming one of the best charters in a short period of the time. O.C.P.A. will be a very good school because of a Principal that can be defined in one word, caring. Mr. Higgins cares about his school and his students.
