Pretty theatre, but does not live up to expectations. It is not very big and in comparison to other theatres a bit of a let down. It is a great theatre to watch a show in and for opera lovers very impressive. but the museum was small and not very interesting.

I cannot express any judgment on this place as I have been working there for several decades. So my judgment would be biased and not very credible perhaps, then I have a ban imposed by the management to set, to release any information.

Definitely more beautiful is the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, as well as being the largest ever in Italy.

Opera and ballet temple, lucky in Italy to have. Great service last minute ticket. Maybe find a place sheltered and some automatic process would be preferable for it, avoid in the rain by loud voice calling names and numbers of the list... But its voluntary service after all. Theater and stewards are young and polite. Do it in Milan.

Very nice location. Very amazing. But be carwful that they dont cheat you with the Tickets. We bought Tickets for 100 Euro each over the officially Webseite and then got lousy seats for 36 Euros....

It is a magical place, cradle of art and expression of genius. A place to live at least once in your life if you are in Milan! Sometimes tickets are hard to come by but you can buy them after a long day of waiting. I hope that the theater will be able to improve this aspect so as to get closer to its fans and ensure greater inclusion to safeguard and pass on this heritage to a wider audience of people and above all to future generations.

Famous and ancient Italian theater. I could not visit it inside but only externally and I can say that around Italy there are theaters externally more beautiful than this. For the rest for those who have the opportunity to enter it I highly recommend it.

The Teatro alla Scala is the main opera house in Milan and considered as one of the most prestigious theaters in the world.
It was built with a decree of the Empress Maria Theresa of Austria issued at the request of wealthy Milanese families who owned the boxes of the old Regio Ducale which was destroyed in a fire in 1776. The families undertook to bear the costs for the construction of the new theater in exchange for a renewal of the ownership of the boxes. The project was entrusted to the architect Giuseppe Piermarini and the theater was built in the area of the Church of Santa Maria alla Scala, which was demolished to make way for the new theater and from which it took its name: New Regio Teatro Alla Scala.
It was inaugurated on August 3, 1778 with the world premiere of "L'Europa Ricuta" composed for the occasion by Antonio Salieri.
The boxes were owned by wealthy families who decorated them as they pleased, the social status of the owner was recognized by the sumptuousness of the box.
The 700 seats in the stalls were intended for the lower classes and were mobile so that they could be moved to leave the area free where you could dance and even for horse riding competitions.
Legend has it that the theater hosts the ghost of a famous 19th century soprano who died young: Maria Malibran, others have seen the spirit of Maria Callas.
Since 1940 the "First" performance of the theater season has been held on the evening of 7 December, the day that corresponds to Sant'Ambrogio, patron saint of Milan.
From the year of its foundation, the Scala is home to the homonymous orchestra, the choir and the corps de ballet and since 1940 the Philharmonic.
It is located in the square of the same name, flanked by the La Scala Theater Museum which is accessible at certain times for guided tours in Italian, French and English.

Supposed to be a good place. There is no proper information in English. Online booking is a bit confusing too. Have read reviews that it's great inside but no information if when and how to see it without booking for an event ( could not book cause time didn't work for us). Uploading some pics so others can find it if they go through Google maps.

Magnificent theater. You breathe art from every wall, every historical manifesto. Majestic and impeccable from every point of view, it is impossible not to visit it at least once in a lifetime. Soon I will also visit the nearby museum, certainly very interesting.

Always top. Outstanding Bubbles! Of course if the seats also had a backrest on the stages, the show would be better enjoyed. Respect for tradition is fine, but discomfort is too much ... not everyone is 20 years old ...
