The food was delicious. Nice authentic restaurant. The service was nice but slow which isn't necessarily a bad thing unless you're in a hurry. Also since you have to pay for parking at the meter bring plenty of quarters.

Love Casa! They have unfortunately pared down their menu pretty significantly, assumably due to lower traffic due to the pandemic, but still one of my favorites for take out in Athens! Will regain star when the menu is expanded again. We miss the empanadas!

Absolutely one of the best New Mexican places in the Midwest. Variety of house made salsas to try made with local ingredients when available. The constancy of the food is outstanding time and time again. Usually I get a Seasonal enchilada with vegetable and chicken and choice of salsa. These are almost broiled so they come out very hot and super flavorful. Definitely a hippy vibe but everyone is welcome. Live music on weekends. Make a detour from the hills to stop here.

Seriously the best Mexican dishes I've ever had. It made me almost end up moving to Athens it was that good

It was a shocker for me being a vegetarian from a small rural town and seeing they had alllll kinds of options for my diet on their menu! Super fantastic tofu tacos and they had so many salsas to choose from for a side dish and the tortilla chips were absolutely sublime! You might be paying a little more for your meals but the staff discourage anyone to tip them and you get a number when you order to pick your food up by a kitchen window when it's ready. All in all I can't WAIT to head back there and experience that Divine food.

Excellent cocktails and drinks at the Bodega and Bar, but if you want to dine-in get ready to wait at least 30 mins for a seat! It's worth the wait though! My favorite is the massive burrito filled with rice and fried mushrooms with their great verde sauce.

(Great vegetarian options with large sized portions)

The first time I was ever in Athens, long time residents advised I eat at Casa and for good reason. You can tell they take pride in every meal they prepare. I assume every Athens resident has already eaten there, but if you're a freshman at OU checking reviews for places to eat, no need to keep scrolling, just go.

Delicious meal from start to finish! My daughter and son-in-law took me for a birthday lunch. We had two rounds of guacamole, salsa and chips. For our meals we ordered, tacos, a burrito and stacked enchiladas. We devoured our food! I need to share that I gave Celiac Disease and eating out is very difficult for me. I managed to ordered gluten free and vegan and did not have any cross contamination issues. I highly recommend eating here!

Easily my favorite Mexican restaurant ever. The food is amazing, but it will take some time, so don't be in a hurry. Excellent for vegetarians and great drinks, as others have noted. I miss the days of their jarred salsas (particularly their salsa verde and garlic salsa). As for recommendations on food, I don't think there's a wrong choice. Just pick something that sounds good at the time and you wont' regret it.

I usually love this place but a few weeks ago my boyfriend had some tacos and got sick and was throwing up all night after eating them. I dont think I will be going back for a while. Other then that it has a great vibe but staff can be a little slow at helping you especially at the bar.

Always great, all-natural food.

Always great, all-natural food.

(My lone complaint is the waiting time, 30 minutes to an hour and and a half, but once you get over that, it's one of the best restaurants in Athens, let alone Athens County.

The fresh, tasty, innovative, and perfectly prepared dishes, friendly owners, amazing bar (try a bloody mary) and comfortable vibe are all an essential part of Athens. I hope they are able to thrive with carryout. Get the T-shirt.

Absolutely loved this place! Vegan, vegetarian, and regular items available. Even delicious vegan desserts! I never get to order desserts in a restaurant, so I ordered both vegan options because I could. No tipping at this restaurant, but if you do, they donate it to a charity. So we left a tip to donate. I highly recommend Casa Nueva!

The first time I went there I was lucky, I got my order and my friend's in 15'. The last two was heinous and ridiculous, I waited more than 45 minutes just to find out that they have lost my order... Never going back!

The food is amazing. Haven't been back in a few years but the food was on point. However our server was obviously high and we had to ask for literally everything. He never once stopped at our table to ask if we needed anything. I always had to grab him to get refills and even our bill. He never even asked how our food was (which was amazing).

Casa Nueva is like nothing else. Their food is seasonal, local and fresh. I make a point of getting to Athens once a season to sample the new menu. I love the food, the ethos and the mission. I am moving and I will miss this place so much.

Great food featuring produce from local farms and a seasonally changing menu. Also the best margaritas in Athens. They infuse their own tequilas and have various ones throughout the year. They have a stage and frequently host music performances, some of which are free. All the workers have been friendly in my experiences. If you're in Athens, I recommend checking it out.

Awesome! What else would you call a place with delicious, locally sourced food that is employee owned? Their menu has a Mexican flavor. Their seasonal, scratch-made salsa's are heavenly. Their staff is friendly and welcoming. Oh yeah, they mean it when they say, don't tip your wait staff. If you insist, they will donate the money to one of the charities they support. Awesome, right?

Whenever I'm back in Athens, breakfast (and possibly dinner) at Casa is at the absolute top of my list of things to do.

First, know this: The service is slow. If you're not OK with this, don't go. You're going to hate it. You almost always have to wait to be seated and it's going to be another few minutes until someone takes your order. But! If you're patient, it will be rewarded.

Salsas are made in house and they even have new seasonal offerings. They have rotating featured vegetables (kinda unique in my eyes) and those can be added to any dish. Specialty iced teas are some of my favorite items on the menu and the signature cocktails from the bar are satisfying, if not innovative.

But the food is the main attraction. As I said, the big salsa selection allows you to really customize your food, as salsas can be added to dishes to give them a real zing. Mild, spicy, they have it all. Breakfast is my absolute favorite and I wolf down their delicious potatoes, which always leave me wanting more.

Best of all, the restaurant is worker owned. The pride everyone takes in their work is obvious. You don't need to tip here, as everyone is fairly compensated for their work.

Casa is one of the places that makes Athens Athens! Don't miss out.

Really great food. Our greeter on this occasion was pretty short with us, but the server was good. It takes forever to get your food here - if you are in a rush or really hungry, you might want to come back another time. It's a co-op, so I appreciate that everyone working there really is in it for good reasons, but it's hard to wait so long for your breakfast!
