The Olivos Adobe is a great way to learn more about the rancho period in California history.
For many years I taught fourth grade in Ventura, and went here on a field trip. It was great. If visiting this beautiful site as a tourist, try to go on a day when a docent can share the ranches rich past. The rooms are furnished much as they were in the 1800's. The dining room is furnished by the Fleishman family of the famous margarine and yeast products who used it as a hunting lodge.
It is well worth a visit followed by a lovely lunch at the nearby Ventura harbor.

Amazing culturally and historically significant place. This is a well preserved Rancho that can be hired for private use. There is ample parking, restrooms, a historic home with furnishings and a large court yard. We visited when they were having a special event so we were lucky enough to learn about the types of activities that the locals did back in the day. We also got to see some great live music and mariachi.

A very casual experience of early California history. What is great about this little museum is that there is nothing flashy - just real life for a real family many years ago. Well worth an hour or two!

Nice little historic spot here in Ventura, roam the grounds of this well preserved Adobe home and learn about life living there in the old days. They offer tours on certain days or you can go anytime and read the information signs throughout the property. Very interesting.

It was a harder hike with a unique view. There's also a natural hot spring there as well. If you are looking for some good cardio for a hike then this is right for you, it's steep and long enough to do just that

Very very very far! Lol I'm a school bus driver and the Private school I drive for went to this park on Tuesday. The drive was pretty good not too much traffic but it was extremely far! Was a good breezy day just the right temperature. Very nice park

We took the family tour for $10 and had Marsha for a guide whom I cannot recommend enough. She knew her history and made an execellent presentation, answered our questions, and was very enthusiastic. Olivas Adobe is not a "must see" if you are in the area for only a day, but for those who want to learn about the CA history, or have a little more time to enjoy, it was very informative. For locals who are interested in the history of the tri-county region, I recommend it highly, similar to La Purisima mission though about 1/4 the size and scale. Tickets are $3ea or $10 for family.

The parking was easy. They have tables for 4 or more that you can rent or bring your own chair. Alcohol and non alcoholic drinks are available to purchase plus snacks. The seating is in a nice enclosed area with a stage for the band. It was nice and cool under the stars to listen to a great band and enjoy the food we brought in a relaxing setting.

Good
