We stayed here for two nights and it was a really comfortable stay! It's apparently the 'oldest hotel in Britain' according to the hotel and it's full of history! I loved reading about Mary the Queen of Scots visit! The beds were comfortable, breakfast was tasty and the location was brilliant! The only downside was the cleanliness, the rooms could be cleaner.

A few cute touches that I haven't found in other hotels - a teddy on the bed and bath salts provided. It's apparently the oldest hotel in England. I liked the style and enjoyed my dinner and breakfast at the hotel. It's right by the pretty opera house, I recommend this hotel.
Hotel staff and hotel was both lovely. They was very welcoming and great with my dog! I did speak to Jessica before I booked my trip to ask a few questions and she was very lovely, friendly and couldn't help me enough! The lady that came in to clean my room was lovely and didn't mind that my dog wanted to say hello. I would recommend anyone to stay here and I would definitely stay here again!
After a rather unpleasant experience at another hotel in Buxton, we decided to check out and find somewhere else. We came across the Old Hall Hotel and we are glad we did. The staff were fantastic, from the lady on reception, the chap behind the bar to the breakfast team. Can't fault them at all! The room was lovely. We had a classic double room which was spacious, cool, elegant and very clean (the opposite to our first experience elsewhere). Our breakfast was lovely (although the black pudding a tad dry). We will definitely be staying here again.
Had a weekend here, to celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary, stayed in the room Mary Queen of Scott's was held, there where some issues in the food area however the staff where brilliant the duty manager arranged a surprise for us to make up for the issues we suffered, we where invited as their guests to spend the evening been wined and dined in the newly refurbished Cresent hotel, fantastic night, many thanks to all who helped out and made our anniversary memorable. The old hall is old and looks tired, however it is full of history, this could have been so much better, the menu is basic pub grub and the same every day, same menu and prices in the bar as in the restaurant. I understand the old hall has recently been taken over and it will be brought up to standard. The park opposite is beautiful, and your walking distance to pools Caven, go ape, country park, and local shopping centre. Thank you to Daniel your a star worker, Michelle and Lee duty managers and the loverly receptionist at the Cresent Hotel.
We stayed for a long weekend as it was close to the theatre. Room was nice , breakfast excellent but they miscalculated my bill. Whilst they checked it I waited in the lounge were their were two other couples. A deputy manager came in asking rather loudly who was refusing to pay their bill. Needless to say I was very unhappy as I intended to pay the correct bill which I did when presented.
We had lunch here at the beginning of October and felt very safe; good social distancing, abiding by the rules, staff wearing facemasks. Food was very tasty, as always. Would be happy to come again!
Food as ever was fantastic and the service impeccable. I had a ceasar salad to start followed by pork sausages, creamed potatoes, crushed peas, sweet onion chutney and plenty of gravy. My husband had crab mayonnaise with fennel and pear, followed by steak and black pudding pie with creamed potato, broccoli and gravy. Washed down with a nice bottle of malbec.
Stayed 16/10/20. Very central with perfect access to the best local pubs. Is a lovely old fashioned hotel. Staff excellent. Breakfast huge and good. Pets welcome for a surcharge which was waived for us as wasn't advertised at time of booking. Would stay again.
