Oceanside is a fun course. It's challenging and it...
Oceanside is a fun course. It's challenging and it's in good shape. Plus, the price is right.

Really enjoy this course. My daughter practices here and it's very nice
At 15$ it is a great deal. A very nice breeze is always blowing I've noticed, which is nice. All the people I've ever played with have been really friendly as well.
One of the good courses in Oceanside. Staff is great, especially Mr. Woods. Need to be able to drive carts to your vehicle. Only drawback
The course is fun and challenging but it gets a two star rating because of the poor crowd management. The tee times were so stacked on top of each other and the overall quality of golfers playing caused what could be a quick round of golf to drag on at a nearly unbearable pace. Also the clubhouse wouldnt sell us beer after we finished our agonizing round because of a private event. There was literally one other person there. Stupid.
Stopped at this muni to play 9 holes with two friends, when we returned to the car, my window glass was broken. They just opened the center drawer, nothing was stolen. There is a lot of crackheads in this area, so most likely that was it. Be aware, they brake into cars and even steal cars in this location per the police agent on scene.
As an 11 year-old I used to bring my dog to the Oceanside golf course to sell the balls I found out of bounds on the Camp Pendalton side of holes 12 & 13. The manager guy with the brown mustache used to send his thugs out to chase me/cuss at me/ intimidate me from coming back, (Guess it was tough to compete with a middle school kid making $40 in sales on the weekends lol) but I loved being out of bounds exploring those hills and I never could stay away too long...Played there recently after almost 15 years, and the nostalgia factor really kicked in. I can still feel the spirit of adventure (and danger of being caught) after all this time... Beautiful course, great to play at, and if I could do it all over again the same, (sorry, not sorry management) I would! This place made my childhood a good one!! My first real adventures and my first real villains!! Me and my dog against the world!! Love this place... Highly recommended!
Tough course to rate. Plus: It has a nice layout and is inexpensive compared to most around here. Minus: They need to water more. Fairways mostly brown
If you enjoyed my review please hit the like button. I travel around southern California, Nevada, and Arizona selling frozen steak, seafood and chicken. Every dive bar and greasy spoon will eventually make it's way onto my page. Do you like a good hotdog?
I don't golf but from time to time a great hotdog hits a spot that a filet mingon would not. The Oceanside golf course walk up deli had been recommended as top notch dog so I had to give it a shot. There is ample parking close so if all you want is a hotdog you can grab one and go quick and easy.
They use Kirtland (Costco) brand hotdogs which are all beef, and they grill them which adds flavor. You get hotdog and chips for $4.50 and it is a 1/4Lb dog so you get pretty full for less than five bucks. If you are working around Douglas/Vandergrift in Oceanside and want to grab a quick lunch on the cheap I would definitely recommend Oceanside Golf Club deli. Enjoy!
I have never personally played this course but hear great things about it. I've taken a number of golfers there as an Uber driver as well as picked some up. They all say they enjoy the course.
Cameron is an absolute doll...give that boy a raise..lovely course and great customer service.
Very nice employees, and nice course for the price. Would love to visit again.
Affordable almost links style golf course. This is a fun course with a great friendly atmosphere! Would recommend anyone looking to practice Dog legs and wind in your face! Course is in ok shape. Nothing to brag about. Teeboxes we're a bit uneven. But the greens were spot on and sand was nice. Keep it in the fairways if you want to see grass. Hope to play this course many times more. They had a cart lady working the course. Which gave it 4 stars
I have never ever ever dissed a golf course. I would give this one a second chance if. Sorry no If. I'm so confused that this place even exists. It just sucks. The greens have potential. Turn it into a pitch and putt maybe? Or Just shut it down so I won't have the Angst that another Fellow golfer wll have my Experience.
This is a classic full-sized tree lined Par 72 course that meanders through a small river valley of creeks and ponds. It can play tighter than it looks due to the firm fairways, short grass, and many lateral hazards so accuracy of the tee is at a premium. The course borders Camp Pendleton providing a scenic backdrop of foothills. There is an ambudance of bird species to see inbetween shots if you like that sort of thing. It is a very flat course with the exception of Hole 12, a short Par 4 going up steep little foothill, and Hole 13, a short Par 3 coming down the same hill. The course has a nice variety of dogleg lefts and rights as a nice mix of Par 4 lengths - short, medium, and long. There is one Par 5 on the front 9 and one on the back 9 and whilenthey can be easily reached in 3 getting there in 2 is not easy. The greens.are small with the exception of a few long and narrow ones. They run pretty quick and a little firm in some places and soft in others depending mostly on sun and wind exposure. The green complexes are trickier than they look so pay close attention if you want to go low. Like the many crows in the area, if you don't pay attention and underestimate them they will eat your lunch. There are no fairway bunkers. The bunkers around greens are medium depth and lack enough sand. So if you open up face too much you will skip off the hardman barely covered in spots and skull the ball. Less bounce and a steeper attack is definitely needed to extract yourself from these traps. There is usually very pleasant weather year round and a reliable prevailing wind in late mornings and mid afternoons that will effect your distances. If I had to label the course theme with one word it would be subtle. Nuances cannot be overlooked, in the slope of fairways, greens, and/or wind conditions. You can have a fun easy walk birdwatching or dig in and challenge yourself this course will accommodate either or both.
Nice course. Cooler temps help keep grass growing well. Greens are in great shape. Front 9 is tougher than back. Nice range, too.
Educational golf school for kids. Great employees He'll. Who is next tiger woods. Youngsters. No spray can. Golf. Swim tennis. Surf. Fish bike walk run. It is all here stay outta trouble
We had a great day here, the greens are awesome but tough and the fairways are long and narrow. Definitely bring Your A game. Fun times.
Great course and always kept in great condition. Highly recommend...
Really nice golf course had fun here, it was nice that i could rent the clubs and cart for a decent price. I will be coming back again.
The course is OK, but the staff and patrons have bad attitudes, swearing and cursing people. Not a welcoming atmosphere, don't waste your time and money here. Go somewhere else where you'll enjoy your time.
Employee had no idea that I had setup a tee time online so when I got there it was double booked. Then we were rushed to tee off by the manger who knew he double booked us very unprofessional and rude. Stay away from this course I would imagine any other one in the area would be better.
Love the course. Layout is fun the greens have been playing fairly quick. Course condition is good. Play here 2 times a week will always come back. Pace of play can be an issue sometimes and that's my only real complaint
Fun and challenging course with lots of 5 pars and dog legs but usually forgiving if you know how to play smart
Greens were lightning fast with little break even when you saw one. Great Father's day Special package you should check out. Try the Club Sandwich for lunch if you're hungry.
Good muni for the price. They always have nice greens.
Made a tee time for 730am on Tuesday Jan. 19. I was excited to play this course as it was my first time! When we got there it was severely backed up with groups going off the front and back. I get it happens, sometimes it gets overbooked no big deal. Unfortunately for me I worked around 130. So I went in to ask for a refund. After a little back and forth the man in the shop, he finally agreed to give me a refund. As he was doing it he told me, Don t come back, we don t want your business here . I was shocked as I was very respectful to the man. Honestly wish I hadn t been. I hope he owns the place because I would think any public golf course owner would want business! I believe his name was Fred Wood, at least that s what it says on my receipt ... I will definitely be taking his advice though, will for sure take my business elsewhere! In fact I played Emerald Isle which is about five minutes away from here! It s a par 3 course but was a blast to play! The staff actually greet you and treat you respectfully! Definitely think about Emerald Isle over Oceanside golf course!
WOW! What a difference a week makes! Last week was great, this week was horrible. I paid at the desk last week and was told we were getting a $33 dollar rate. When we arrived this week we were called liars and told we each owed $7. We knew we'd never find another tee time so 3 of us stayed. The 4th just went home, out his $33. I tried to talk to the manager afterwards but the agressive behavior continued. I'll certainly never be back. I didn't even know there was a $33 dollar rate, and I certainly never asked for it. I will be filing a more formal complaint with the parks department.
Fun course. Environmentally conscious landscaping. Challenging course. Fast greens!
For a muni course not so bad. Greens well tended, fairways nice. Some nice views. Enjoyable.
public course located off one of the main arterial North County highway 76. Course is in very good condition and fun to play. Reasonable non-resident rates for green fee and cart fee
Great public golf course. Lots of challenging holes and some easy holes. Greens are usually very good. Price is right. Play can be a little slow.
Best place in the county for seniors level ground it's a tough course but it's a lot of fun
Range ball need replacing about 20 out of a large bucket are bad.
Course is in decent shape & clean! Plays to the skilled and the beginner golfer w/ challenging certain holes. Does NOT remind you of many municipal courses. Staff is friendly and accommodating. I have taken lessons to "up" and "tune-up" my game from Fred Wood & I can't say enough good things about him! The first and foremost admired factor was that he could see what I was good at and commenting on it & focusing on it! Heck, by the time we got to what I needed to work on, it was like it was just a little thing and would take a simple practice. And, IT WORKED! I walk onto the course now doing that little "camel-walk" Rory McIlroy has when things are going great! OK, I still need practice w/ the "fix-it" part, but I've got Fred's number on speed dial. 'Wanna play great golf & not be hammered with what you're doing WRONG?
Really shaped up the last couple of yrs. Great head pro there too. Fred woods . And you can hit off grass at there driving range . Hard to find that anymore.
$12 large bucket, grass range, range pretty busy Friday 4pm but still got a spot, groups still going off 1 as well, late March.
I appreciate this course for what it is, which is an old, far-from-perfect municipal with a terrific layout. The greens are well-maintained. Tee boxes are reasonably flat and grassy in most cases. The design is fair but genuinely challenging, making this one of the tougher courses in north county (and probably among the 5 toughest in all SD). There is a serious benefit to hitting the fairways, more so than the greens.
Aside from the lack of a practice bunker, the practice facilities are surprisingly excellent. 2 practice greens, one with chipping allowed, an all-grass range, and a cool little pitch-and-putt-type short game practice area. Seems to be under utilized.
Most of the staff is helpful. Haven't ordered from the restaurant but it is always well-peopled.
3.5 stars is probably more appropriate than a full 4, but if you keep your expectations somewhat in check you can have a fun round or practice session at this course.
The fairways and greens are in the best shape ever!
The greens a better than most courses around. Great price point as well.
My favorite golf course in North County SD. Can't beat the value!
Mediocre course, okay condition, decent greens. Very nice driving range.
Ok public course with good greens today. It only cost $41.
Although the green is not in good condition but I like Course because it's challenging...
Had no problems at all and the people we experienced were all wonderful but the golf course is just average at best. If you're looking for a fun relaxing day of golf at a really reasonable price you can't go wrong.
One of the best golf courses in Oceanside! Great place to play 18 holes! Greens and fairways are well maintained year round! Can t go wrong with the price of the green fees either! I try to play here a few times a month. Also great that their practice range is on real grass!!
The course was great had a good time shot a good score for me. Back 9 was tough with the wind. Got some history when Tiger woods played course when he was 15. What he did at that age was crazy. Would play again. Price was also good.
Nice enough course. A little ragged around the edges, but generally in good shape. Staff is friendly. Nice range and a small clubhouse/restaurant. Good prices on their website. Play seems to be a little slow.
Nice track, though play is slow. We were fortunate to be teamed up with a delightful couple, so the pace didn't bother us. The greens are devilishly fast!
We really like this course. The varied holes are challenging but not punitive. Most of it is in good shape and the greens are surprisingly tricky.
Decent shape, many dog legs. Challenging. Good place for after work or twilight, can get crowded on weekends, very affordable rates. Staff are great, bar is well-outfitted.
Little Zack in the pro shop is the man!
It is what it is -- a very affordable munie course. But listen, I walked on at 2 in the afternoon last Wednesday, paid only $27, including electric cart, went out with two other "singles" and we were done in 3.5 hours. The course runs through an estuary with all kinds of really neat water fowl and other birds and there are no houses nearby to hit! The greens putt true. Bunkers are not good and the rough is really rough in some spots. But a good value and I always enjoy playing here.
Just simply a great mini, fun course, best price in N SD County.
Great place to play. Greens in great shape. Fareways are perfect condition. Syaff is very friendly.
One of the best layouts in San Diego County. During the management of American Golf this course was butchered. Back then the employees were sub par, Fred Woods excluded (Great dude). Now that Bellows has been here a few years it has really improved. It took Bellows awhile but they brought in an ace groundskeeper and the greens are bar none some of the best and fastest in SD county. They recently started a slight redesign with ground cover and removed most of the bad sections in this course (should have removed more IMO).
The people working here are all good guys. I've never had a single problem with any of them. Fred Woods is the OG and a good instructor. All the counter guys are exceptional unlike the former employees of the past that were pretty much losers (Frank "The rumor" Chapman comes to mind, a chump).
This course is tight and tough but fun for all players (play fast). You'll love this layout.
Perfect greens, perfect sand, bucolic setting! Muni golf at its old school finest! Definitely the best value in San Diego County!
Greens and fairways are in great shape. We played 9 with a start at 10:30 and never were rushed. The starter is helpful and the snack bar makes great sandwiches and has cold draft. Perfect day!
Great challenging course! Obviously the leadership that runs the course takes great pride in what they do, both the course and staff are top notch! Aces in my book!!
