Regards to the family of Lawrence. A most gracious host. We are saddened to see the closure. I hope a reorganization is in the works.We had our wedding reception at the Ocean View 15 years ago. What a perfect place for a wedding. The food at the restaurant was superb. Our honeymoon room was perfect! The guests so enjoyed the beautiful grounds.
Just went to a wedding here a few weeks ago. Loved everything about it. The view was spectacular, the dining room was cozy and clean. Loved all the wood and old charm. Bartender was very nice and made some killer drinks (although they were a bit pricier than I expected). I would recommend this to anyone looking for an outdoor wedding.
We put a deposit down in summer of 2013 for our wedding for June 2014. The business deed was recently transferred in lieu of foreclosure. The telephone lines have been disconnected and the place is boarded up. While visiting the property to find out why our calls and emails have been completely ignored, we talked to Bank representatives on the property who informed us that the property was being auctioned off. They also informed us we would have to get our ~$5,000 deposit back from the owners. The owners who have completely disappeared. Our lawyer has contacted Peter's lawyer to be completely ignored. We believe we will never see that deposit. In addition we had to inform all our family who had booked a room at the venue to call their banks and credit cards to get reimbursed because yes you guessed it they charged the cards already for the rooms booked in 2014. I guess I would just like all the other brides planning their big day at the venue to know as soon as possible so they can start to looks for a new venue or cancel other vendors(photographer, videographer, JP) if there date has to change. I know we are having a really hard time finding a place available on our june date. Good luck to all and stay positive.
It's quite unfortunate that this Inn is so horribly run. The potential runs deep, but the reviews are true.
The risk of ruining my wedding day is not worth it, hopefully some day this place will be overturned and given the opportunity to thrive again.
My wedding was at the Inn over a year ago and I can't stop talking about it. Jennifer (event coordinator) was wonderful to work with. She made suggestions that I hadn't even thought about (thank goodness). Our menu was perfect for the size group we had and I just have to say, the chef, trained in France, is fabulous! We had a few special requests and several children at our wedding and all the food turned out perfect. The staff at the front desk were awesome, so much that even to this day, when my husband and I return, they remember us! The owner has made some great improvements to the grounds and buildings, but I hope he never changes the charm of the two main buildings. Peter is a little quirky, but that's why we like him so much. Highly recommend for a romantic getaway and a wonderful meal.
I must say it was a great view, But that is it! I Stayed in the building to the right . Very old, outdated, ac barely worked, plaster was falling apart, outside of building was all rusted, WAY to expensive for the room we had. We had a wedding at 5, could not check in till 3 which is fine, but our rooms were not ready until 4:30. Dinning room was nice, breakfast was ok. The guy at the front desk, young gentlemen was accommodating as he could be and very pleasant . them other people at front desk rude., Would never stay there again.
The Ocean View Inn has closed. We paid them thousands of dollars, and our money is gone. We received no notification. I wish I could give them a zero stars. Please help spread the word to couples who have booked weddings here and others who were planning to stay here.
