In the heart of downtown Bandera TX, OST is a local cafe serving up all your favorite country comfort foods. The staff was friendly, the prices were great, the food was filling, fresh, tasty, and home made. I made the comment to my wife that it felt like we were eating at grandma's house.
A delightful place with friendly staff, great food, an engaging theme and a good menu.
This review deserves more photos, which I ll get next time.
If you want comfort food - things like country fried steak, loaded baked potatoes, and a fresh green salad, they ve got it.
A high carb breakfast with pancakes or waffles, eggs, and choice of meats? Of course.
I tried their breakfast enchiladas with eggs wrapped in corn tortillas, mixed with plenty of cheese, topped with a perfect ranchero sauce. I enjoyed every bite.
And - there s dessert. Lots of pies! And - fresh blackberry (or, if you prefer, peach) cobbler.
The restaurant features lots of John Wayne pictures one of the things they re known for. There s even a full size image of John Wayne if you want to take a selfie with The Duke.
So, bottom line, try it. I think you ll enjoy it.
This place had amazing food! Stopped in there our first day there for supper and everything was superb, filling and delicious. Wait staff were all but incredible and super sweet. Came back the following next two mornings for breakfast which was even better if one could imagine. Pancakes, sausage gravy biscuits and pies! To die for. Please stop in and give them time to make you feel at home. You wont regret it! And you wont beat their price.
BEST Chicken Fried Steak ever! We are Chicken Fried Steak aficionados (self-proclaimed) & have eaten it in 30 states. This was the best we have found in a restaurant (because I make a mean one at home). Superior service also! Give this place a try, you will NOT be disappointed!
Down home good Texas food in a great feeling place. The service is always good. I love the John Wayne decor. I felt like I was dining with the Duke himself.
The waitress was friendly and quick to take our order. The food came out pretty quick and was great. The one pancake would be a 3 at IHOP or Denny's. The price was great for my wife and I to eat out. We will be back for more meals
Fantastic dining experience! The food was delicious and our coffee cups were never empty. I would highly recommend giving this place a try when you are in Bandera.
For the biggest variety of food guaranteed to satisfy any palate. Staff are attentive and friendly. Plus they have a John Wayne room and saddles at the bar
I wanted to like this place more than I did. I had the salad bar, which didn't have great options. The lettuce was in huge pieces and had to be cut. The potato and macaroni salads were decent but the actual salad makings were poor. My husband had the pork chop special, and he said the pork was good. But he didn't care for the potatoes that it came with ("peppery"). I will say we had really excellent service from a friendly and efficient young waitress. This place is John Wayne Central, with hundreds of photos of him. But for us, at least on this visit, it was all very average.
"Pancakes as big as your head!" Their posted, claim to fame. And they were! Delicious also. Second time here & it was every bit as good as I remembered. I have only had breakfast here, although I'm sure everything is as good. The bacon..it was thick, crispy & oh so good!
