First brewery I visited in Salem! A nice tap list! With many German style favorites! I went with a half liter of the zwickel and it did not disappoint! Also decided to get a soft pretzel which was also quite tasty!
I m giving this review a one star solely based on the bartender s attitude. He was so rude, not once, but twice. My mom picked up her order when they called our table number and it was just her pretzel that was ready. She waited about 10 more minutes for her beer and it was never called, but people at our table who ordered after got their numbers called and so did other tables. When my mom went up to see where the missing beer was, he argued with her and tried to tell her he already served it. This was not true, we had only one beer total at our table, mine, and the rest got non-alcoholic drinks. So he was wrong. However, he proceeded to tell her then that her beer would be poured in the order it was received. So, instead of taking fault, he made up an excuse. I always get my husband a shirt from breweries I visit and I texted him and told him to look online to pick one. However, after the interaction with the bartender, I told my husband to forget it, that we weren t giving this establishment more money. If you re looking for a rude bartender and subpar beer, this place is for you. If not, I would highly recommend to stay clear.
Beer and pretzels. Seriously....do you need more than that?
Good beer, cool space. A+ low ABV beers sold in 0.5-1 Liter sizes
This place has great atmosphere, very clean-industrial. I tried the Radlers and my better half ordered a delightful IPA. Our bartender was Lucy and she was a delight! Super friendly, eager to have a real conversation and willing to make recommendations for us while we're visiting the area. We also got a pretzel to snack on, which came out piping hot and very soft. If we find ourselves back in this area (and we certainly hope to) I would definitely come back.
Great beer. And better people than about 18 months or so ago. It is a pleasure to be there.
Delicious beers and extensive lager list. Beer is sold in crowlers and some 4 packs to go. Worth the wait, and awesome dog friendly patio. Great for families and for just a nice day out.
Biergarten style snacks for sale as well.
The staff is incredibly friendly, the beer is delicious and ice cold, and the place is pet friendly. In the words of Philip J. Fry...Shut up and take my money!!!
Simple and awesome. Great beer and great food. Also, phenomenal customer service.
We walked a lot to visit them. We looked at the their site and Google, and the time it closes is 20hrs however, today they decided to close at 19hrs and did not report anywhere.
Incredibly rude staff. Very disappointed with their level of customer service lately. The bouncer is especially arrogant. Seek out better alternatives in Salem.
Very good beer and a change from the Salem scene. Check it out!
Beer and atmosphere are nice. But please don't call the apple pie syrup for your Berliner Weisse "woodruff". Woodruff isn't an apple and tastes nothing like it.
Nice atmosphere. I'm not a beer drinker but had one that wasn't bad. Pretzels were awesome.
Great place to relax and chat with friends. They have board games to use.
Awkward atmosphere, horribly limited menu, asked to bus your own table and use port-a-pottys
We visited Salem strictly for Notch and the beer was a 5 out of 5. The only reason Notch is getting a 4 star rating instead of a 5 is because of the service. We enjoyed ourselves directly because of a host by the name of Kevin, he was informative, friendly and clear about how to properly order and handle ourselves at notch. When we were leaving we stopped and spoke a moment with Kevin to thank him and to ask for some stickers... someone else mentioned that one free sticker is fine but 3 stickers we are going to have to charge for. We said we d pay and then he said we can t take cash ... so Kevin again being the saver of the day told the other guy that he d pay for us.
When it comes to your host that are in direct contact with the guest, who have the responsibility of extending the information needed to keep the business running by cdc guidelines I think they should be treated better because if it wasn t for Kevin and his hospitality the good beer wouldn t have been enough to bring us back.
Less seating than it looks like because people take up more room than you'd expect. Good beer selection though, and you can bring food.
Great spot overlooking the canal- The radlers are amazing and pretzel bites are delicious, AND WE BEAT THE STORM!
GREAT location and atmosphere. The Rauchbier I had was great. Their brew list is a bit hop heavy (three of six beers were ipa's and a hoppy pale ale).
Visited from out of state. Guy at the door tried to confiscate our ID s because they were from out of state, he didn t recognize them and thought they were fake. Ended up letting us in. Bad service, bartenders couldn t care less about answering questions about their own beer, which was subpar anyways.
Awesome beers, really cool facility, and very friendly staff. Owner hooked us up with free beers for working in the industry, and there was a cool Holiday craft market with local artists and vendors when we went. Absolutely recommend, will be back.
Really great outdoor patio next to the water. Good beer selection, but best thing about Notch brewery is getting half or full liters of beer.
Great beer selection, and very good COVID measures ensuring patrons are as safe as possible. Good prices and very friendly staff.
Great beer, great atmosphere for a gathering with friends. Highly recommended!
Great brewery. I had the Zen Arcade and it was a very good pale ale. The atmosphere was very nice next to the wharf.
Great covid experience! Staff was incredibly kind and laid out all the rules. Beer and food was amazing!
Love the berliner weisse and the outdoor space is amazing
Hidden down an alley.... This place is with searching for! The beer selection is great, there are a few rotating seasonals but the standards are great. They just expanded the food options a bit and you can get more small plate/app/dinner good stuff. You can get growlers and crowlers freshly filled to bring home. A favorite of ours
Great German style session beers! Amazing atmosphere, the brick walls and wood booths add to the great vibe! Prost!
Staff is very rude and beer is mediocre. Was not impressed.
Really cool place, doggo friendly. They have some games to play and you can buy beer by the liter which is cool cause you feel like you're a giant. They have outside seating next to the river. A nice place to spend a few hours, drink a liter, get a German pretzel, and hang with a trendy crowd.
They also have an Oktoberfest coming up that sounded pretty lit.
A decent selection of beer. So cool we have a brewery locally. Stop in, play some skee-ball. Very friendly staff and dog friendly. Great place for groups and any age north of 21+.
great beer and good atmosphere, especially in the warmer weather
I love all the Craft Breweries that are blanketing the Country and Notch Brewery is another great place to stop in and have a REAL beer.
Unique experience in playing Skeeball. They do have good beer for decent prices, and if you don't know Skeeball, go there and try. Wednesday is the best day for it, when all the regulars are there and help you to get the hang of it.
Really cool little place. We went when they had a Halloween party in July, which was a neat concept. The only reason I dont give 5 stars, and I get that its silly of me, is that they only have fancy beer here. I know what youre thinking "Hey, its a brewery, of course they only have the beer they brew there!" but, I dont like fancy beer. I like hard cider, and apparently, sometimes they brew that, so they should just brew it all the time, so that people like me, Anti-Beer-Snobs, can really enjoy themselves. I did get a beer, and it was acceptably boring, so I could stomach it, but I didnt enjoy it at all. Other than that, this place is great! They have nice outdoor seating, their bathrooms were clean, and the wait staff was friendly, and fast.
Great Night, WFNX Night. Jules, Neil Roberts and Morning Guy Ti
As a Salem visitor turned resident, this is an absolute must for any beer drinker.
The beer was good and old, interesting place! Don't bother getting a pretzel, we waited 20 minutes and it was barely warm and the butter was frozen solid. We ordered a warm pretzel with butter. Not worth the $5.99 by a long shot.
Taproom is roomy . The biergarten is spacious and cool.
Finally a real craft Brewery in Salem. Nice break from the tourist crowd.
The bartenders are real friendly and knowledgable.
My first time had to be during the pandemic, but that said the line moved well and once inside all the necessary protocols were in place and then some to keep people safe. Located right along the river it's a great location to spend an hour or two or three day!
Top "NOTCH" beer and tap room!!!! Staff is ultra friendly nd fun. Very knowledgeable about the current beer on tap.
Great variety of Session and German style beer. I can't wait until their taproom and beir garden are back to normal, but in the mean time they have one of the best COVID setups in the city. The curb-side pickup is also great--I am enjoying their Kolsch as I type this.
