The services provided by Northwest regional workforce investment board are average. I expected more from them, but they deliver just the basic services. The staff is friendly, but not very knowledgeable. I would recommend looking elsewhere if you need help with employment or training.

I had a rather mixed experience with Northwest regional workforce investment board. While some of the services they offer are beneficial, I found that the staff lacked enthusiasm and energy. It felt like they were just going through the motions, and I didn't feel truly supported. It's a shame because I had high hopes for this organization.

About Northwest regional workforce investment board

Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board: Advancing Connecticut's Talent Pool Since 1962

The Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board (NRWIB) is a non-profit organization that has been serving the workforce development needs of Connecticut since 1962. With a mission to enhance the skills and employability of the state's workforce, NRWIB offers a range of programs and services that help job seekers find employment, advance their careers, and achieve economic self-sufficiency.

One of NRWIB's core functions is to administer federal funding for job training programs under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Through partnerships with local employers, educational institutions, and community organizations, NRWIB provides training opportunities in high-demand industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, information technology, and hospitality. These programs are designed to equip participants with the skills they need to succeed in today's competitive job market.

In addition to adult training programs, NRWIB also offers youth services through its Youth Employment Program (YEP). YEP provides career exploration activities for young people ages 14-24 who are not currently enrolled in school or employed. The program helps participants develop essential workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and time management. YEP also offers paid work experiences that allow youth to gain hands-on experience in various industries while earning a paycheck.

Another key initiative of NRWIB is its Business Services team. This team works closely with employers throughout northwest Connecticut to understand their hiring needs and connect them with qualified candidates from the local talent pool. Business Services also provides customized training solutions for companies looking to upskill their existing workforce or train new hires on specific job-related tasks.

NRWIB operates three American Job Centers (AJCs) located in Waterbury, Torrington, and Danbury. These centers serve as one-stop shops where job seekers can access a variety of employment-related services including career counseling, job search assistance, resume writing, and interview preparation. The AJCs also offer workshops on topics such as financial literacy, computer skills, and soft skills development.

Overall, NRWIB is a vital resource for Connecticut's workforce development ecosystem. Its programs and services help individuals overcome barriers to employment and achieve their career goals while also supporting the needs of local businesses. With a long history of success in advancing the state's talent pool, NRWIB is poised to continue making a positive impact on Connecticut's economy for years to come.
