About Northwest housing alternatives

Northwest Housing Alternatives: Providing Affordable Housing and Social Services in Oregon

Northwest Housing Alternatives (NHA) is a non-profit organization that has been providing affordable housing and social services to the people of Oregon since 1982. The organization's mission is to create opportunity through housing by developing, preserving, and managing affordable homes for low-income families, seniors, and people with disabilities.

NHA believes that everyone deserves a place to call home. They work tirelessly to provide safe, decent, and affordable housing options for those who need it most. The organization's approach is holistic - they not only provide housing but also offer support services such as case management, job training, financial education, health care access assistance, and more.

The organization has developed over 2,500 units of affordable rental housing across Oregon. These units are located in various communities throughout the state including Portland Metro Area (Multnomah County), Clackamas County (Milwaukie), Washington County (Beaverton), Yamhill County (McMinnville), Marion County (Salem), Lane County (Eugene) among others.

NHA's properties are designed with sustainability in mind - they use energy-efficient appliances and materials that reduce utility costs for residents while also reducing their carbon footprint on the environment. Additionally, NHA provides on-site community gardens at some of its properties where residents can grow their own food.

Apart from providing affordable rental homes for low-income families and individuals with disabilities or special needs; NHA also offers homeownership opportunities through its Homeownership Program which helps eligible households purchase their first home by offering down payment assistance loans or grants depending on income eligibility criteria set forth by HUD guidelines.

In addition to providing quality homes at an affordable price point; NHA offers supportive services such as case management which helps residents connect with resources like job training programs or healthcare providers so they can improve their overall well-being while living in one of NHA’s communities.

The organization’s commitment towards creating sustainable communities extends beyond just building new homes – it also involves working closely with local governments & other stakeholders towards creating policies that promote equitable access to quality housing options across all income levels within our region.

Overall Northwest Housing Alternatives is an excellent resource for anyone looking for safe & secure yet affordable rental accommodations within Oregon State. Their commitment towards creating sustainable communities coupled with supportive services makes them stand out from other organizations working within this space today!
