READ BEFORE BUYING A CAR FROM HERE - dirty sales practices, corrupt finance department!

I have carefully evaluate my experience and never have wavered from the following advice: Do NOT by a car from these dishonest, fraudulent dealers. I have bought cars in multiple states and never have encountered such horrible shady old school car dealer practices. It started when I went in to purchase the car and learned that the car was 2 Grand more. The ads fail to include that they are "certified." No wonder they are not on the more reputable car ad sites! But the worst was yet to come. While in the finance office we were told to sign some papers, run of the mill sort of stuff, banking paper work and such. What they didn't tell my inexperience wife who was signing is that they threw 3 Grand in add on warranties into that pile. No explanation of what those warranties were, no disclosure, nothing. Now your probably thinking this is standard practice but it's not. When we bought a Mazda at Liberty they slowly went over any add on items before asking us to sign. Still can be fixed, of course. When I find out about this dishonest behavior, I go back to the dealership and demand they remove the warranties, it's within a week so there should be no problems. After some pleading we fill out some papers (I still have my copies) saying the dealer will remove these warranties. It's six months later. I knew Mark the finance manager would just throw the papers out. And he clearly did.
I am pleading with you not to support this criminal outfit. Grossinger in Lincolnwood where I now service my car is 1000 times better and honest and even tells me Northside has a horrific reputation. So if you want to deal with the absolute worst in car dealers go to Northside. If you don't want to be lied to over and over, I implore you to avoid them!!!

They are busy I suppose, but they take a long time. Oil change might take four hours. I usually walk home and wait to get called.

Had an issue where the check engine light came on. Called service, was told to bring it right in. The lady said three o clock appointment.

When I arrived the guy said they wouldn't look at it that day. Said it was too late and that they were leaving soon. My car would be there for a couple of days before they got to it. Guy seemed to be frustrated that I brought my car in for service. If he doesn't want to be there fixing cars then maybe he should go somewhere else. I did what I was supposed to do. He didn't want to do what he was supposed to do.

Overall my experience with the service department is why I decided to NOT purchase my car from this dealership. In July I will turn in my lease and take my business somewhere else.

Just got a Prius and worked with Chelsey Laporta, she's awesome, upbeat and knowledgeable...Friendly staff very convenient city location for a dealership and service center.

Once you work out a deal, be sure to ask about any up-selling that's going to happen in the finance office...I was put off by trying to be sold gap insurance and lo-jack AFTER I had worked out a good monthly payment with the dealer...If I had agreed to all the "would you like fries with that" offers in the finance office it would have added other 100+ dollars to my monthly car payment.

Bottom line, the dealers and the showroom managers seems to be down-to-earth and willing to work with you, but the upper-management/finance office seem to do some fast talking. Maybe this is normal for Toyota dealerships, this is the first time I've ever brought a new car, and I hope my post helps other first time buys be aware of how Toyota tries to make an extra buck.

I was at this dealership a week back. The sales consultant was good in understanding my need and go through the options I can look into. However, the terms of the offer I made were very clear and I guess the bill of sale contained some additional charges which they were not able to justify in my visit the following day.

The consultant had sound knowledge of the cars and suggestions he made were great. However, customer service also means being loyal to customers and going ahead with the terms and negotiations that customer places. I was clear in my budget requirements and he made a total mess out of it.

I have many issues with this dealership! No leadership, no knowledge, no respect for me!!! I have the same issues with my car for over 18 months without any resolution!!! Call Toyota Corporate and I will go us far I have to , to make sure they re responsible what they did!!! So please have second opinion before letting them do any work on your car !!! I learned that the hard way!!! All service managers should be fired and all the stuff should be trained how to deal with people ( horrible costumer service)

Bought a car from here and was told that everything was totally fine with the car. Bought the car, brought it home, the next day the battery was dead - turns out the battery was completely dead and had to be replaced - great. LESS than a year later, brought the car to the mechanic for strange noises, turned out the brakes were completely rusted through and according to the mechanic, was mostly likely sold to me that way. The same is also said about the Tire bearings. The door rattles every bump hit - which cant fixed.

Whatever 'services' or 'inspections' performed at this place is a safety hazard. I do not recommend purchasing from this place or using the service facilities as their 'work' was not up to any standard.

But WAIT. THERE'S MORE! The salespeople also tried to talk us into a higher interest rate and tried to ignore the loan I secured privately... They tried this MORE THAN ONCE (which, how does that even make sense). The sales people also tried to add on a bunch of 'cleaning services' and other 'service fees' that totalled more than $2000. Not a warranty, not a coverage plan, nothing but a cleaning of a car. Then while signing the final papers, they AGAIN put their loan services on the paperwork and said that I should 'just sign' because they will 'alter the paperwork after i've signed it'... NO ONE. I REPEAT, NO ONE IS CHANGING DETAILS OF A CONTRACT AFTER IT'S BEEN SIGNED.. THAT IS ILLEGAL

Rich from Parts & Services was very kind and attentive to my needs and requests. I decided to get my services done at this location due to poor customer services at another location. Rich made sure that I was using the most of my premium package as well as making sure I was happy with what was going to be done with my car. Rich was professional and always kept me updated with the status of my car. I returned a few days later for a remote starter for me vehicle and Rich knew who I was and still was very kind and attentive to making sure that my vehicle was taken care of. I did not know about the extra services like Uber/Lyft to get me around and Rich helped me get home while my vehicle was getting worked on. Amazing service because of amazing people. I would highly recommend this location for their kind staffs and beautiful seating/waiting area.

I went in to get maintenance done(have to mention they didnt make me pay for it. Thank you!!!) for my car so instead of waiting I wanted to go see what deals where going on since my lease was getting ready to end in December. They brought me over to Trung and he got working on finding me my Corolla Eco. The car was not at the dealership but almost two hours away. They were more then happy to bring it over for me and let me keep my current car so I can continue with my day rather then sitting at the dealership all day. I really thought I was leaving the dealership with nothing new as I asked to think it over as I'm a graduate with loans and a very tight budget. They worked with me and made it very easy. When I came back to get my car they were finishing washing my car but all that time even while Trung was dealing with other customers he was very attentive to me. He truly goes beyond to make sure his customers are happy. If I'm still around Chicago in 3 years I'm more then positive I'll be coming back to get my 2019/2020 (whichever is the better deal) Corolla Eco. Hopefully Toyota in general comes out with more Silver editions as both Eco I have gotten are in blizzard white.

I wish a 0 were possible. I recently traded in my 2012 Camry on a 2009 Range Rover at the Used Car lot. I dealt with Rick who, at first, seemed like a decent guy- even for a car salesman. Everyone ranted and raved about the car I was purchasing.

The first night I got home, the car alarm sounded incessantly in the garage. The same as the 2nd, 3rd, and so on until I discovered the hood latch was bad and would need to be replaced. This is a common Range Rover issue and, unless they had kept the car unlocked on the lot (highly improbable), they would have and most likely did know about the issue. I immediately called, and called, and called, and called again.

They were obviously way too busy for me and, as far as they were concerned, it was not their problem...a common thought of car salesman once it is off the lot. Within a week, the brake pad light started going off. One thing after another.

I still have never received a call back from Chicago Northside Toyota. Buyers beware if you are going to the used car lot. Better to stay away from there!

A week ago I made an appointment for an oil change, scheduled it and we were all set. Then i got wind of the mechanics strike, so the day before my appointment , I contacted the dealer and spoke to Yesenia. I asked if this strike is going to impact something as trivial as an oil change. I gave her my name and appointment time and she said no, this should have no impact on my service, and if something were to change, someone would contact me. Day of appointment, I arrive promptly at appointment time to find the place desolate of any human being. I waited a good ten minutes before someone came to apologize to me for the inconvenience and that my car will not be able to be service. It ended up being a complete waste of My time.

I've been a lifelong toyota owner and have had most of my service done at a toyota dealership. Having moved to chicago, I was looking forward to starting a relationship with a new service center and Yesenia just lost out on what I consider myself to be a loyal customer. Another Toyota Dealer will now receive my services. The folks here clearly undervalue the importance of communication.

The atmosphere at this location is very comfortable and welcoming, not pushy in the least, and it's very clean and modern. There's even good coffee in the waiting area. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a complete walkthrough of all of the features of my new car before I drove it home.

I received a call for an exclusive oil change special to get me to visit the new location. I made an appointment and when I arrived they were unfriendly. I meet a Connie who informed me the special was for newer cars with 5w20 not 5w30 and she wouldn t be able to honor it because the price difference in synthetics were marginal. I asked for a manager and had to wait several minutes. The manager never once came out instead Connie came again and informed me they would honor it but I had open recalls they needed to complete but they couldn t do today. I told her I never revived documentation and she made it seem as if it was my fault. I told her I ll worry about that later and she insisted I sign a waiver. I asked for the managers card and left. I called and spoke with the service manager same day and brought my car back and was promised the recalls would get done. Turns out I had no open recalls so these people don t know what they re talking about. On top of that my exclusive offer indicated a price no where did it say taxes and shop fees were not included. When I was handed my receipt there were taxes and shop fees. This location is not transparent about their operations. I asked for manager again and he paid the shop fees. Claims it s because they clean after themselves unlike Jiffy Lube. I ve never had an issue with Jiffy Lube, but this Toyota dealer was bad from first step in. I will not come back and I d strongly advise against going here. This place was much better at the old location.

Chicago Northside Toyota was the first place I ve ever invested in financing a car. I was very grateful to have Darren as my sales consultant. He was extremely helpful in making sure I understand what goes into investing, he listened to my needs of what kind of car I m looking for, and he spoke Tagalog to my Father when needed to make sure he understood the process as well. The process was very quick, and they worked around my boundaries of what I wanted in a car. Overall, it was a great first time experience, and I definitely recommend anyone interested in getting a car to come to Toyota. Darren and his team was a great impression, and I am very thankful. :)

Stay away, unless you want to lose money. I went here when my car was making noises, and they came up with a weird explanation that it was because the lubricant was overflowing. The estimate was $1,000+.

I then had it checked at two other places, and both said there was no such issue, and the engine noises were because of the winter temperatures.

Either these people are super incompetent, or just trying to loot you.

I am not going back.

I paid $40 for Tire rotation which was the same amount of money as other Toyota service centers but other locations usually do visual inspection (Before I used to visit Naperville and Lombard Toyota service centers) for safety reason during Tire rotation. I can do Tire rotation for $15 in another service centers (Different companies or private small businesses). Usually, customers prefer to visit service centers because of their inspection service despite their expensive service fees.

I am relocating for work and I wanted to know how the lease situation would work out if I am out of state. When I phoned in initially, the young lady was extremely nice and recommended that I come in to speak to a representative for all of my options.
In my mind, that meant there would be several possible scenarios that we could discuss per the situation.

THIS IS WHERE THE ONE STAR REVIEW BEGINS!!!!!
When I arrived, I was greeted by a sales associate (name unknown, but he had bloodshot eyes, slick blonde hair, and sounded like he had an accent from a European country; although he stated that he grew up on Bryn Mawr and Kenmore). I stated that I was looking to explore my options with terminating the lease for my current car. He then asks me if I'm interested in leasing a car. I restate my current situation and he nods his head, then asks what type of car I'm interested in buying. Clearly the listening ears were in the off position.
Once I think he understands, I asks him to see what paying off the car would look like, as one option. He brings back the payoff amount and I ask what would early termination look like. He rolls his eyes and declares that I should just buy the car. I kindly reiterate that I would like to see my other options.
He then huffs off and returns saying that it would cost the product
of my remaining monthly contract times the monthly payment. This didn't seem like a good option either.
Next he states that I should just keep the car for the remainder of my lease agreement. I ask how that would work across state lines, which he replies, "I think you can probably just turn it in down there or something like that." While this seemed like a decent option, it sounded like there would be more to it. I asked if he knew of how I could go about obtaining the specific information and he just threw up his hands and states, "I'm sure you can Google it or something."

This is what sent me over the edge. How as a professional can you know nothing off-hand and then when asked, tell me to Google it. If that was the case, I wouldn't have wasted my money on parking to come and talk to a rude, obnoxious sales associate.

Now, I have to spend the next hour or so Googling the information that I should have received upon a short, in-person visit.

By far the worst, dare I say shittiest, customer service that I have experienced in quite some time.

I got a called from Toyota Northside about a deal of 59.99 with tire, muit, and oil change + 10$ off. I told the lady to make sure she notes it bc I do not want any issues. Showed up on my appointment and they told me that the deal expire last month - we are in the middle of July and I made the appointment two days ago- I didn t want want any issue so I told him just the oil change. The guy told me he couldn t help. I walked into the building and saw all these pop up of this special! I grab and showed him. He was like ok I ll add the tire rotation... I was upset bc they are ripping the low middle class people off that can afford a Toyota. Long story short. I spoke the manager and he was like the deal is still good for July..I made it clear to the lady over the phone to note on appointment. No notes. I truly think that the guy who checked me in didn t even look at the appointment. He wanted 90$ for tire-oil but kept telling me no notes. I m waiting to see what will be the final price.

I was a bit skeptical about going in there because I had a bad experience with another rep on my previous visit, but Nishat turned my sour previous experience to a remarkable one and this made us decide to get our car with him. never go to this dealer to buy anything, Attitude from the salesperson are just unfriendly,special the used cars the price they post online are all fake, they hook you to the dealer with a low fake price if you want to buy the car, they will force you to pay 1000$ dollars or more for what they call the "A.I.P"to the vehicle price which is a fake service they provide on all their used car, you can't find any clue and sign that where the AIP come from, nothing on their website nothing in their store. just a way to make more money.

Finally! A dealership that knows how to be accommodating! Needed to return the lease on my 2016 Camry and wanted to get into a new 2018 Camry. I had actually gone into another dealership first. Had to walk out. Let me tell you, Jim at Northside was like a breath of fresh air! Jim made the entire process smooth and painless. He gave me a few options to choose from. No pressure. Very good experience when looking to purchase my next car. They provided excellent service. The general manager, James Gallagher was very knowledgeable and friendly. I felt that all my questions were addressed and he was able to ease the pressure and concerns that comes with purchasing a vehicle.

WOW!!! I cannot say enough great things about this place! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by Marques with a smile on his face! I went in just to look, not knowing if wanted new or used or an SUV or car. He was extremely knowledgeable about all of the vehicles on their lot. Being that I am a student, we discussed how often I drive and how far I drive. He was able to tell me the miles per gallon average for the city and highway for each of the vehicles, and even suggested hybrid options that I did not know were available. At no point in time did he pressure me into signing and buying that day.

Once I'm ready to buy, he'll get my business! Also, telling family and friends in and around Chicago to go see him too!

BEWARE!!!! They did not disclose ripped back seat, 2017 Ford Escape in need of new tires, and multiple dings, scratches, gauges in the body that did not show up in pics. We specifically asked them to take a hard look and disclose anything that would be a deal breaker before we drove 3+ hours to buy a vehicle. Needless to say, we WALKED away without the vehicle. Pushy sales people and not trustworthy. Take your business elsewhere.

UPDATE TO MY ORIGINAL REVIEW: It's only been a little over one month since we bought this certified pre-owned Toyota, and today we spent almost $400 to replace the brake pads, air filter and cabin filter. Again folks--buyer beware of this place.

First the good--love my car. I bought a certified pre-owned Toyota and the price was fair. The sales and financial people here are helpful and knowledgeable when you are actually dealing with them.

The bad--if you ever have a question for your salesperson or the financial folks AFTER the sale and try to reach them, GOOD LUCK. In my experience, once they have your money, you are no longer a priority. Customer service goes out the window. They'll tell you "I'm here at such and such a time, just stop by, no need to call ahead of time," and guess what? When you stop by, they aren't there. And your calls and emails will go unanswered--mine did. I finally had to resort to using the text feature on their website to have them ask Nick Herberger to return my calls and emails to sign paperwork. Utterly ridiculous. Thank you to Savannah for her help. Without her I'd probably still be trying to get a response from Nick. And when I finally heard back from Nick, I received no apology or explanation for not returning my calls and emails. I would also like to thank Finance Director Mark Elgazarr for his assistance. Mark had to get my paperwork in order to be signed because Nick wasn't in the office (for the second time) when he said he would be there.

Buyer beware. I sure hope their service department is better.

We visited a bunch of dealerships and dealt with multiple salesmen. We were initially unhappy with Northside Toyota. However, Brian Williamson went above and beyond to ensure we got a great deal, all our concerns were resolved and we drove home satisfied with our new car! Would definitely recommend.

They sold us a car with only one key fob without telling us upfront that the other key was missing. When asked, they said they said they would find the other one and mail it to us. When we didn't receive any key, we called again and now, they are admitting that they don't have it and are refusing to make us another key. These newer car key fobs are pretty expensive (~ $300) so they should have been honest and declared that upfront. Also, this car was advertised as "certifiable" but had body issues such as broken front light case, loose window weather strip and Blind Spot Monitor not working. Based on my experience, I would NOT recommend these sellers as they were NOT HONEST and upfront with us and did not offer any service recovery to make up for their mistakes. One would wonder what else they are not telling you about your car.

A++ car buying experience. I have purchased many vehicles in my life and cannot express enough how the staff at Chicago Northside Toyota was such a pleasure to deal with. It was actually a very fun experience. My sales person Benson Curry, was not only a pleasure to work with, but professional throughout the information gathering and test drive. I highly recommend him, the sales manager Chris Waterloo was able to get me a great APR. I want anyone who has ever experienced the anxiety of car buying to stop by and experience the genuine customer-focused approach they seem to have mastered. I love my Rav4, Thank you!
