Great hiking and camping was an awesome location. We stayed at the Indian mounds camp site.
If this is it we love th raven trail and mcnaughton trail
Absolutely beautiful trails and wildlife. The foliage and vast lake riddled land is just stunning. It's very peaceful and quiet and almost feels like a world all to yourself.
Great forest with many different species of trees and animal .tons of nature trails for hiking, biking, xx skiing, snowshoeing, Snowmobiling. Many great campgrounds state and private. Some of the best hunting and fishing around! Get the family together and go on a adventure!
Too camper-y. Wish there were some more rustic sites
It is "up north". What more needs to be said. Been coming up since 1959.
Absolutely beautiful area in northern WI with awesome trails and a great variety of landscapes. It's very peaceful, quiet and almost does not feel like you are close to anything. Great area for kayaking, bird watching, wildlife watching, hiking and biking. A plentiful of lakes and different camping sites throughout the area. Highly recommend exploring up north WI!
Our go to for a variety of hunting and outdoor fun. One of the true blessings of Northern Wisconsin.
Great place to go! Lots of fun on the water and beach!
sand here is like the bahamas super white and water super clear you can see the white sand.
Beautiful northwoods campgrounds with great beaches and friendly staff. We stay or play here multiple times a year!
The sprawling Northern Highland American Legion State Forest is one of Wisconsin's most important natural resources. I feel I could spend years exploring its reaches. The trail system is extensive, well-marked, and safe. A hiker's paradise.
Great place to get away from everyone and everything.
So we stayed in the park this past weekend. Friday night was great. Saturday night however was horrible. We specifically picked a site next to the camp host so as to have peace and quiet. Saturday night was a night of ZERO sleep. There was a couple of women staying in the lots beside us and they were carrying on, yelling at the top of their lungs, running around with flashlights that would periodically shine at our tent, singing loudly until 2AM. I finally could no longer take and yelled at the top of my lungs to "shut the HELL UP". The camp host did absolutely nothing about it. I thought there was to be a quiet time after 10pm. Really disappointed.
Have been coming to this area for 65 years and now own a piece. To me everything I need is here from solitude to cityscape. Beware of tourists.
Have stayed at Firefly Lake and Clear Lake. Great campground, crystal clear waters, amazing paved bike trails, and the cleanest bathrooms. You could visit a different campground in this forest every year and never be dissapointed. So much area to explore! If you had a boat or canoe even better! Highly reccomend the area.
Serenity Camp. Can't wait to come back. Find GreaT Peace here
I have been using bike trails for years. Very sad about the ridiculous murder of the berry patches along trail. Let em grow please.
Great place to visit I was so sad to leave there thank you Camp America
Some of the nicest Waters in the Midwest very dense forests and lots of creatures and I mean lots!
Beautiful land, great biking trails, and lakes. The canoe trail we took was not well maintained always check with the office before starting.
Beautiful places, great trails & great state parks!
I loved this place for camping. Beautiful lakes, trails, clean sites, and very clean bathrooms. We stayed on crystal lake and it was stunning. However it is not pet friendly at all. You can t go anywhere with your dog other then the roads. You can t leave them at your site while you go hiking (rules even state in your camper). I understand we don t want our neighbors having to deal with barking dogs but then make it possible to go places with the dogs.
This woodland in norther WI has extensive lakes, camping, etc. The forest extends over multiple areas and covers a good part of the northern range. This area is very similar to northern Maine.
Been camping here 40 years and love the sites and the lake. Always great times.
Very patriotic. Friendly. What America should appreciate.
One of our favorite camp ground. Small, quiet and pretty.
I was trying to get my campfire vibes on when my tent caught on fire I tried to stomp it out but then my shoe got on fire no campfire vibes for me
snowshoed around part of Clear Lake, beautiful scenery and a very friendly park ranger who gave us much great advice about the park as well as maps and literature

One it the many places I go to hike with the dogs to see waterfalls.
All of the state parks in Wisconsin are amazingly beautiful
I love camping here. We've now stayed in three of the campgrounds and each one is beautiful. The sites are spaced out and have enough cover between them to feel private. The bike/hiking trails are well maintained and offer a great way to explore the area. The beaches are sandy and the water is clear and the fish practically want to be caught. The showers are clean and warm with just enough water pressure. Even the "pit toilets" are clean (they're still pits though). I really can't say enough nice things about the area.
ANY state forest is a great place to be. I just drove through it on my way.

Beautiful state forest. Would be nice if more trails that were dog friendly were actually groomed, but the scenery more than makes up for the few issues.

Excellent place for veterans lots of different activities to do.
Great place to get away from everyone and everything.
