Among the best campus recreation facilities I've been to. Wish they had longer summer hours though.
Weird setup for a gym and many machines are missing. Also it gets very crowded and it's hard to use the facilities, especially showers, during peak hours. However there are two indoor basketball courts.
Try to access the gym early in the morning or late in the night. Otherwise it is pretty crowded.
If you're going here, then you're an NU student, so price is "free", though I think adding a rec fee to the tuition is a bit unreasonable.
Equipment is well-maintained, clean, and relatively modern. There's a couple basketball courts, a field hockey arena, an indoor track, and a few aerobics rooms in addition to a reasonably equipped weight area and a TON of varied cardio machines. Classes and training are offered as well, but I haven't done either.
The big problem is that it's not able to serve as many students as it does. The hours are actually really good for a uni gym (5 AM?!), and the space overall is big enough, but the balance is off. There are always plenty of open cardio machines and rarely open power racks and benches.
This isn't helped by equipment often being broken and/or missing attachments, rules against deadlifting outside of the racks, and having only one toilet per floor. Also, forget Olympic lifting, there are no platforms or bumper plates, and they're not very tolerant of noise.
Overall, if you have access to Cabot and want to lift, go there. If you don't, strongly consider Squashbusters when it's open; it's smaller, but proportionally better balanced and less used. Otherwise, Marino isn't bad, it just shoots itself in the foot in a couple ways.
Solid gym. Two basketball courts and one multipurpose court. Lots of treadmills and a few ergs. There's a 1/10th of a mile track on the top floor. 4 benches and 4 squat racks. Freaking packed from 4:30 to 7:30. ABP, Wollaston's, and B. Good on the bottom floor with some seating.
It is the one stop for workout, bath, snacks and rest
Straight garbage. The school needs to expand the gym.
Excellent place to workout. There are equipments available for different muscle development routines and there's a running track for cardio. I love that there's a Sauna for relaxation.
They've been playing great classic rock music recently
A state of art recreation center for Northeastern fellas.
Northeastern's main gym is extremely well equipped offering a diversity of fitness activities and group classes!
Good commercial gym with lots of equipment including barbells and reasonably heavy dumbbells (up to 110). Decent array of machines. Too small for the Northeastern student population. All in all, a good gym for the average college student but not fulfilling if you're a more specialized or higher-level athlete.
Everything you want at a gym, but a layout where it feels like everyone is looking at you always
Awesome place .
Gonna miss it after graduation . Full facilities with shower and sauna .People are nice and determined .
Proper place for excercising , both ametuer and professional .
It's a nice gym, but there are only three basketball courts
This is one of my favorite gyms. It has saunas, new workout areas, a pool, and much more. Very thankful for this experience.
Nice gym. Fee for entrance if not affiliated with northeastern
Gym, yoga, zumba, kick boxing and many more activities. A cool hangout for northeastern lads.
Best place to work out and play tennis and basketball if you re a Northeastern University Student since it s just near the campus.
Great place if you manage to avoid the crowded times. This place reaches capacity quite fast, so it's important to go at the right time to make the most of it.
The dispenser is always running out of wipes for the machines and unless you go before 10AM it is going to be so packed you will be lucky to find any elliptical, treadmill, or bike that isn't occupied.
Awesome place offered by the University, has so many options for a perfect workout. Only problem is you need to sit uptight to get a spot for reservation. The gym slots gets booked very quickly.
Sometimes crowded. But quite a nice gym to have on campus.
There are so many instruments, students are free, and the number is not too large.
Its a huge gym and I like the quality and service provided by the staff here at Northeastern.
Northeastern's main gym. Good equipments and facilitities. Wish it were bigger.
Very cramped, machines just thrown randomly in the hallways. Not much order to where things are placed. Extremely crowded at almost any time of day.
It's a college gym. No complaints about the facilities and staff, but get extremely packed at times and the weight room is intimidating for new gym goers.
This building must have been designed by a brilliant architect who has never actually used a gym tons of natural light, not nearly enough equipment or floor space.
