The sort of place to enjoy a local theatre production without paying London prices. Nicely set in the country side near Effingham, Surrey
Hidden away in East Horsley the theatre is an amazing gem and hub of the community. I've seen a number of productions and they are really good! we'll worth a watch.
Tucked away but still capable of putting on a good show. Ice creams are cheaper too. Can park on local streets but worth taking a torch at night as street lighting poor.
Saw BBC Food programme here. Pleasant little place, has a cafe with reasonable coffee/tea provision. Decent seating in theatre. Close to a pretty park if there's waiting time for theatre. Recommend.
Lovely theatre with lovely people and the "Sound of Music" was brilliant.
A fantastic local theatre. And they produce amazing shows
Highly professional community theatre with fantastic facilities.
I came here a while ago and the Surrey Showcase day was brilliant. Annabelle Lawrence and her team (sorry for not remembering their names) were all superb. The guys from Brooklands radio were also fantastic.
Thank you for your time - I appreciated!
Raza =)
A hidden gem of a theatre. Good variety of productions. Can get a little warm in summer as lacks air conditioning (hence 4 stars)
New theatre, clean and light. Everybody really friendly. They put on lots of shoes each year. Well worth a visit.
Nomads Theatre Company: Bringing the Magic of Theatre to Surrey
Nomads Theatre Company is a non-profit organization that has been entertaining audiences in Surrey for over 80 years. The company was founded in 1934 by a group of theatre enthusiasts who wanted to bring the magic of live performance to their community. Since then, Nomads has become an integral part of the local arts scene, putting on a wide range of shows each year that appeal to audiences young and old.
What sets Nomads apart from other theatre companies is its commitment to inclusivity and accessibility. The company welcomes performers and volunteers from all backgrounds and experience levels, providing opportunities for people to get involved in every aspect of production, from acting and directing to set design and stage management. This approach has helped Nomads build a strong sense of community among its members, who work together tirelessly to create memorable performances that delight audiences time after time.
One thing you'll notice when you attend a Nomads show is the sheer variety on offer. The company puts on everything from classic Shakespeare plays like Hamlet and Macbeth, to modern musicals like Rent and Hairspray. There are also plenty of family-friendly productions throughout the year, including pantomimes at Christmas time that are always a hit with kids (and adults!) alike.
If you're interested in getting involved with Nomads Theatre Company as either an actor or volunteer, there are plenty of opportunities available throughout the year. Auditions are held regularly for upcoming productions, so keep an eye on the website or social media pages for details about how you can get involved.
In addition to putting on great shows for local audiences, Nomads also takes part in various community events throughout Surrey each year. For example, they have performed at local festivals such as Woking Food & Drink Festival where they entertained crowds with excerpts from some popular musicals.
Overall if you're looking for high-quality theatre entertainment in Surrey then look no further than Nomad's Theatre Company! With their inclusive approach towards performers/volunteers combined with their diverse range productions there really is something here everyone can enjoy!
