I went here for 7th to 8th grade. Had to transfer to metcalf cause I was being bullied so badly. It was terrible. I was scared and depressed to go to school. The guidance counselor didnt do anything. I wanted to go home and fix my hair. I had my Dads fiance help me crimp my hair but I realized too late I had no hold spray. So by the time I got to school it was all over. I got picked on all day. I kept having to go to the bathroom to get it wet and also put it up to hide it. They kept laughing at Me and calling me a poodle. Very traumatic experience I had to go through. I'm 21 now and I still remember it like it was yesterday. Nobody handled it at all. The most the counselor did for me was gave me a ponytail n told me I had to go back to class. Come to find out talking to one of my classmates that went there with me as well. He got bullied badly as well. If you're going to send your child into a middle school I'd advise you to have them go to metcalf. The teachers there are much better. Have a funner and easier way of learning. I loved the algebra teacher there ms. Kuziej she made learning fun. I never understood algebra at all with her methods it was easy to remember and made sense. Nicollet also messed up my 7th grade schedule. I got put in a lower math class to learn fraction stuff . I didnt start algebra til 8th grade. They told me my scores were low but its cause I never knew algebra. Metcalf staff really worked hard to get me caught up. Loved each one of the staff there. The principal and officer was really nice. I just would recommend stear clear of this school.

I can't give the BEST review but here:

I can't give the BEST review but here:

Teachers:They're nice and all,not much of a big deal unless you meet with my math and science teacher. They get on my nerves!!

Guidance:Guidance isn't really guidance. You go the for leadership groups(I was in loads) or you're there for when you get in trouble, but they don't do much.

Kids:I think the kids are annoying. They always roast people about the slightest things. A+ roasting! They call each other names and their so dirty. The boys have really dirty minds, but they're pretty nice to me,so it's good.

Food:It has decent food, not perfsct, but OK. It's wild in there since there is a whole grade up in there. There was once 2 fights that happened at lunch on the same day!

Learning:I learned lots of things here so far,and I have pretty good grades. The people just need to shut their mouths in science. I swear I hate everyone in that class. The classes are 43 minutes so less math(ehh??)

I've been at this school for 2 years, and I have a feeling I'm going to be here for a 3rd year. but among those 2 years I've seen things in this school that made me question the abilities in this school more than once. For one thing, homework can get quite stressful, not going to lie, and one thing that distracts the entire learning environment would be the absolutely disgraceful kids there.
They all seem to be more involved in drama and gossiping than the actual reason they're there in the first place.
Another thing would be all of the terrible bullying that kids have experienced when they come here. I've come to the conclusion that if I don't speak to anyone, everyone would leave me alone. Although, this often results in loneliness for me. I've often heard my friends say that the bullying here is unimaginable. As much as I'd love to pity this school, I'm afraid I can only give 1 star for how much this school could better.

I have no experience here but big of my cousins go here and say it's horrible. They both get bullied really bad every bad they hate going there and the teachers are blind to see it. One of my cousins told the counselor what's going on and they never did anything about it. Bottom line my cousins don't feel safe going to school.

I finished here in 2010 and only have the best experience in 7th grade. I mostly did my best to be a kid and have fun. I nowadays attempt to give this school 2 stars but I am giving 3 since the administration and most mainstream teachers are pretty good. I am totally not a fan of my education experience here overall and would rather redo it by myself.

I visited this school my junior year in high school once and really like the improvements made for the warning and tardy bells. Great, no more awfully loud bells, that's a plus!

From the not so good side, I hope there have been improvements on the following:

1. In my opinion, bullies should not allowed in class nor should they be allowed in the hallways. Same goes to the unstable individuals in the special ed rooms! I hope there is more discipline improvements!

2. Locker room was also unsanitary and terribly designed! I do not wish to go any further since I find this to be a sensitive topic.

3. As for my 8th and especially my 9th grade year, I would totally give the special ed teacher I had 1 star with the experience I had! The experience was not at all acceptable! I have a huge philosophy about having a high quality education, self-respect, and safety and I found the teacher's ways of handling adversity and being a teacher to be very low quality compared to my 7th grade year.

In conclusion, I hope you have read my experience. I believe training myself to be a teacher when I study what I enjoy learning is the best way to be myself in school and I have never seen such unprofessional teacher standards like what I saw from the special ed teacher I had shortly before starting high school!

I do NOT recommend this school unless there have been improvements made!

Not impressed with how the entire system of teachers, counselors, and principals work here. Let me have one good thing to say though, and that is that Mrs. Blons has been absolutely awesome with my son and helping him with his IEP, and other supportive teachers. However, Mrs. Blons has quite a full plate and from my perspective doesn't get the support she needs to fulfill her rather overflowing workload. My son began attending this school last year and failed. I didnt receve any emails until 3rd quarter based on how horribly he was doing. I'm new to the state. New to the school system and policies. However I catch on quickly. Teachers mark these students tardy and absent for rediculous reasons. There is no voice for these children as there is a specific counselor who was as i was told responsible for a students suicide. Because he did absolutely NOTHING for this student when he spoke up about bullying. There is fighting, screaming, and yelling in the halls. There are rude and unworthy teachers of having a license. Why qould someone teach if they dont like children or their job enough to be selfless enough and let their students stay after school to help them with their work??? Already my son has had a very difficult time emotionally with students "roasting" each other 99% of the time. We looked into a charter school nearby Apple Valley area and can't take him due to work. I hope that other parents who see this school falling into pieces help by being a voice for these very children they call their own. Removing the security officer this year by far was the worst mistake. Cigarettes, pregnancy tests. Terrible for Burnsville area!! How does anyone take pride in any of these things?

This school is a victim of an awful district who is failing it's students. Most of the teachers are trying hard to give these kids the education they deserve but can't do much with a school board that couldn't care less about ensuring we have quality teachers in our schools. The administration here terrible, maybe they just don't care how they come across or maybe they too are just "done" like most of the parents are with this school but the fights (which NO adult ever intervenes in to get it to stop, these occur daily) the bullying, the threats (as another review mentioned) etc are out of control. We placed our home on the market and cannot wait to be away from this school. I am not the only one, I know several people who are placing their home s for sale, and several more who cannot but will be opening enrolling out of this school next year. When you hear the same thing over and over again from parents and students maybe its time to listen. Do something to improve safety and the well-being of students at this school!

Really debated writing a review but since I have pulled my oldest out of the school and won't allow my other children to even start I think its worth stating why. Especially since the school district couldn't care less about the concerns parents have with this school. Esp for those who are exploring their options in this school district. Middle school is tough, we all know that. What makes it even tougher is having someone who is supposed to be in charge and help students cause emotional harm through verbal assaults. The Dean at this school has said some of the most absurd, abusive things to kids and STILL WORKS THERE. No kid deserves to be humiliated in front of peers for things beyond their control (My oldest has special needs). This is a grown mad saying the most horrific things to kids. Beware that even if your child isn't in trouble (which my child wasn't, they were just scared over something they heard another student say and went to report it) they will still be treated horribly by the Dean and whenever the principal decides to show her face by her as well. Not in the outward way the dean does it, but in an "I don't give two craps about the students" way. Maybe ALL the administration at this school needs a year off, I know middle school is HARD to teach but that is NO EXCUSE for abusive behavior.. There was ONE person who was helpful and really encouraged me to find a better school for my child outside of the district. I don't want this person job to be at stake so I will not go into detail but they were a godsend. Nothing felt better than my kid dropping off that dumb chrome book the last week of school with the knowledge we would never have to be back!

Had a teacher here who didn t teach the lessons well, and when you needed help they would usually say figure it out yourself . There is also bullying, lots of screaming in the halls, fighting and many other things that aren t good.

I just pulled my daughter out of Nicollet mid year. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with a school. My daughter has been bullied and threatened numerous times. I have had to call the police because there is no police presence at the school. The last straw was another student threatening to shoot my daughters group of friends and the school did "an investigation" and found that since the teacher didn't hear it than it didn't happen. Later that evening the student posted on social media more threats of violence and now that we have proof even though the girls reported it the parents had to call the police! DONE DONE DONE. No discipline; No support for the teachers; no behavioral recourse. DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE.... YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!
