Our daughter was at New Haven for 1 year and we couldn't be happier with the care that she and our family received. It wasn't just about helping our daughter, it was about helping our whole family. The work that they do to improve the family relationships is transformative.

During her stay we visited the school many times, connected with other families, and experienced first-hand their commitment to families and treatment. We continue to be connected to the school, and our daughter's therapist continues to reach out to us and to her to ensure she's on-track.

New Haven provided first rate care - loving, highly skilled, and results oriented. This is a tough time for a family, and we're grateful to have found New Haven and gone through this transformation for our family.

It has been almost twelve years since my involuntary experience at new haven . I was kidnapped in the middle of the night out of my childhood home and zip tied in a van with strangers who transported me to Utah . This is a great way to instill trauma in a young person . After graduating I was so incredibly lost and turned to heroin crack and meth. I now work in mental health and realize how damaging and barbaric these methods really were . I have healed fully from this bizarre situation.. but would encourage anyone to stay away from any program that accepts or encourages forced transportation to the facility .

placing children involuntarily in such situation, ...

placing children involuntarily in such situation, as new haven is a harsh, ignorant thing to do. It is purely to give immediate benefit to, more often than not, the parent. All it will teach the child is that they cannot trust their loved ones, that they must hide more of themselves. There are countless heart breaking stories from those effected in these reviews. If you truly care about the patients, the young people you're placing in these institutes I encourage you to read these reviews and wonder if this cause of action is simply to make your life easier and not to help the people you love. While forced treatment can be needed when in extreme danger, it has proven to be less effective and doing more damage than before. Coerced or forced treatment leads to a person resenting the idea of getting help, reducing how beneficial it can be.

I was a student from March 2020- January 2021. I had previously done wilderness and a boarding school. I left the boarding school because they weren t able to support me at my lowest so I came to NH. I experienced many upsetting events such as being dropped off in the woods when I thought I was going to school, to strangers getting me in the night and driving me to UT. (I suggest taking your kid yourself, sending them away w/o you can create further anger and mistrust) obviously it s not going to always be sunshine and rainbows. I had my fair share of angry letters home and tear filled family therapy calls. But at the end of the day my quality of life is the best it s ever been. Truly. There will always be bad reviews of girls getting sent against their will which I completely validate, however, as someone who also experienced that, I look back and have no hatred for the precautions my parents took to see me be healthy again. No program will be perfect, everything will have it s set of faults. Exposure to other girls and their problems is something that will happen realistically but I ve seen SO many of the girls I started out with become entirely new and happy people. I was at the Spanish Fork campus and I found so many people that I still contact on a regular basis. I m going back for alumni weekend too! NH staff create a real bond, not just for the money because everyone knows they don t get paid enough for dealing with a bunch of teenage girls. They genuinely love you. If you are thinking of sending your daughter to a RTC, then this is the best place with the best people to look out for your kid. I ve recommended several people to look into NH and I truly cannot say how much NH helped rebuild my broken life. They accommodate to every girls needs. I really hope someone for the office finds this :p Laura or an RD, Tehehe hello! See you in a few days!!!!

New Haven is an excellent, wrap-around program to help girls and families facing a myriad of mental and emotional difficulties. They have been an industry leader for a number of years, providing comprehensive clinical approaches based on the specific needs of the girl and her family. They provide a safe, warm environment that encourages growth and positive change. The teachers, staff, clinicians, and administration truly want the girls to succeed and encourage and challenge them along the way. They truly do their best to heal families and help the girls become the incredible women they were meant to be.

I was at New Haven Spanish Fork campus from 2015-2016, age 14-15 for anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation. On my first night there a girl in my house jumped and tried to strangle another girl. I was purposely over fed (gained 30+ pounds while I was already over weight), and my HIPPA rights were violated and the nurses accidentally spoke about me in front of my parents. My therapist always took my parents side, probably because my parents were paying 10k a month for me to be there. When I turned 18 (almost 3 years after leaving New Haven) I had recurring nightmares of turning 18 and not being able to leave. I saw a photo of my therapist on Facebook and had a panic attack. My therapist now says I suffer from CPTSD due to my time at New Haven. I urge anyone who is thinking about sending your child here to not send your child to a treatment center, especially New Haven. I am 20 years old now and still haven t recovered from my time at New Haven. New Haven did NOT help me, rather it scared me into not sharing my feelings to my parents even more in fear of being sent back. At a certain point this program broke my will, I knew I wasn t going to be leaving unless I gave in. This phenomenon is called learned helplessness , a child is stripped of privacy, contact to the outside world, and their dignity. They slowly earn privileges back as they progress through the level system. This system is designed to fundamentally change these girls. I once was told I couldn t level up because I needed more friends. I was friendly to everyone and have always only had one or two good friends... this wasn t enough for them. At this point my parents pulled me from the program and realized there was no reason for me to be there anymore if that s what was holding me back. If you ve read this far... thank you. I urge you to not send your child away, and please do research on the Troubled Teen Industry and Breaking Code Silence. Many (if not most) of these reviews have been written by staff members and higher ups at New Haven. I believe most of the staff members believe they are actually helping these girls, who like me, really needed someone to count on, but the way this program is run did the opposite.

New Haven is an amazing place. Our daughter just finished ten months at New Haven and it had a truly transformative impact on her. She arrived with depression, sadness and much anxiety. She leaves believing in herself and self worth and looking forward to living her life. This is a result of a strong fundamental program as well as therapists, teachers and staff who are passionate about what they do and care deeply about all of the girls. It is also great that they live in regular houses (and not an institutional setting) with peers who become close friends and help see that they are not alone. We would recommend it without hesitation.
