Worst place ever. The current people who run this ...

Worst place ever. The current people who run this place are very unprofessional and don t have integrity. The place is full of drugs addicts and drugs dealers, and if you don't do drugs and you have integrity the place would be very unwelcoming to you. They think that their only mission is to get their residents housing. The guy who runs this place, Bryan, doesn t have vision, and doesn t know how to give anyone any kind of direction. They have this other guy, Jimmy, who thinks he owns the place, thanks to the fact that Bryan doesn t know how to decide almost anything, and he let this other guy that doesn t have any kind of education to decide most of the tough things for him. When I needed to tell Jimmy something he often lost his composure. Most of the residents of this place say they are dictators, and the predominant feeling you get from this place is fear, because the staff and the residents all are in fear of losing their jobs or of getting kicked out. They also spy on the emails you send to your case manager, and they lack sense of humor, something that could probably be because is a very uncomfortable atmosphere to be in. They don t get they are full of pride, and that s why they can t learn anything from someone they think is less than them. Overall is a corrupt place, and doesn t deserve any kind of donations, or at least we need to put more capable persons in this place to run it, someone that at least read books. Bryan is always bringing persons to this place to show them the great place he thinks he run, without letting any of the residents know before. Where is the sense of ethics? We need someone that could be a great mentor no only to the residents of this place, but also to all the staff members. Someone who have talent and know how to speak, and identify what is really important. The reason I say there is no integrity in this place is because I saw twice someone selling drugs and I told Bryan and Jimmy, and instead of getting the drug dealer out, I was the one who got punished and moved to the basement. In other words they protect drug dealers or are scared of doing their job. The drug dealer probably still living in there, his name is Ricky, and his bed # is 414. I m a Puerto Rican who didn t have any other reason to stay in there other than to expand my horizons, and get out of my comfort zone. One important lesson I got out of this experience is that there could be corruption anywhere, and that Boston is overall a very sad place to live. I ended up wining also a battle against corruption because now I have this story and review I could share with anyone. I hope so many people could read this review so that the shame on them could be so high so that they voluntarily renounce. If it is that Bryan or Jimmy is reading this, I have a message for you too, and it is: Good always win. Too bad you didn t get why is important to have integrity. Maybe is time for you two to learn now.

They have improved in some areas . They still have far to go . I'm a disabled veteran and they gave me a Cot on the floor . This particular Cot sits flat on the floor total height from floor to Cot 10 inches . It's impossible to crawl in and out on the floor at that height . They need to make some adjustments to make it easier for handicapped Veterans

This center has changed a lot over the last few years. As a former client, resident, and employee of this center, I can see the difference so easy. No longer do you have to wait a long period of time for housing. This place, along with it's case managers and housing staff, strive to help veterans achieve what has eluded them in the past. They really do want to end the cycle of homelessness. I am proud to say I am about to have my own apt because of them. Keep up the good work. There are many more veterans who want nothing more than to stand on their own two feet again.

I am not a vet but I do have a few things to share. By the grace of God I got sober in March 2011. I spent a lot of time trying to find a meeting that I felt comfortable going to. Among other places, the Vet's Center was a great fit for me. The meetings are every night but Tues. Before the renovation began the meeting was held in the dining area. Then they moved us to the basement, which is a much smaller space. I received my 8 month chip here, as well as my 3 year medallion. I have a great deal of gratitude for the NEVS. Also, my late husband, who was a Vietnam veteran, ran into trouble about 15 years ago and stayed at the center for a short time. This allowed him to get back on his feet. It's a great place for services.

I came to NECHV at the lowest point of my life. I had just lost my home of 40 years and didn't know how I was going to survive. During my time at NECHV I finally sought out treatment and support for the PTSD I had suffered with for years and applied for my Veterans Disability Benefits and in less than 90 days I found myself in a beautiful home looking forward to a bright future. If you are willing to work with NECHV they will work for you.

They're doing great work, and are renovating their facilities to benefit their residents, both temporary and indefinite. The staff really seems to care, and many have a great rapport with the residents. I've volunteered here a few times.

Actual homeless shelter. Twice as many beds per room than the Salvation Army Austin on Red River. Many sketchy people, some staff members too. Avoid, although they do have offices on the second floor that help veterans. Too many cigarette smokers. Some are very nice residents.

I was staying at the Parker House Hotel at $340.00 per evening in 1997..I was having difficulty with alcoholism and asked GOD to help me. I left my posh hotel room within five minutes after my prayer and walked into the shelter where I was welcomed with such compassion and understanding. I stayed ten days and have not found it necessary to take another drink since that time. I will always honor and respect the Men I met during that time.

I hope and pray that the Men who enter the facility today realize and listen to the blessed instructions of the Men who are there to help other brother Veterans.

Remember......you have to do the footwork.

Best,

Mark K.

Today I learned that a veteran who asked for a ride to the IBEW Stand Down on the shuttle from NE Center was told "No" Is this anyway to treat a veteran. He was hoping to get a winter coat because all he has is a hoodie. I've since found him a winter coat from caring residents of Framingham, MA. Shame on this center. Hopefully I finally hear from Brian Reeves about this veteran and an incident that occurred at the Center.

I want to come back here. I want to be in the program for the security guard training program. I like the large vault in the cellar. There is an interesting story behind this. There was a major construction job. This place is 9 stories and has lots of help for veterans. There is a laundry machine on the women's floor.

Workers at NEVC are so rude and disgusting to deal...

Workers at NEVC are so rude and disgusting to deal with..they have a crude judgement of others; hypocritical as all get out..the counselors having sex and taking cocaine in their office all day, they have a nerve to say anything in the form of rejection to me or anyone else. Selfish idiots that steal, slander and besmirch your reputation working on their staff will be of no use to you; they will not help you with anything at all. It's just a jerk-u-around situation..they will screw you out of everything you own. It's a test everyday...being rejected by a bunch of ugly little losers who try to charge you with crimes you have not committed and they embezzle all of the funding for veteran's housing..it's a dishonest pack of mindless charlatans; who will lash out at you at a moment's notice...don't take it from them...call their board of directors and get control of your lives.....their environment is detrimental ..it's a drug and sex economy environment and don't blame it on any patron they could not singlehandedly have created that environment for you to live in..blame the veteran's center for detrimental effects they have on you and on your health and overall on your life. Craspy rudeness, ruthless treatment and over-medication of homeless people; the NEVC is the Pariah of modern urban society. It's bathrooms are putrid, and the janitor won't every clean it. It's everything about it....it's a vulgar group of workers who can't get a clue about customer service. They are so abusive...and unsound in every way...it's a total scream..how much they are lude remarkers of others...Sandra is a worker for the women's dorm who has idolatry under her skin...she does never lift a finger to do her own job...she's condescending and dumb as hell....she is so fake with everybody...If she had one brain cell she might be okay...she's stupid.

Lost my home because of the hurricane Maria in Pue...

Lost my home because of the hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico I was going to school for mechanical engineering. Went to the New England center and home for vets (NechV) and my whole time there it was constant harassment and abuse. I just got kicked out on new year's day because one of the drug addicts in the building beat me up and I called the police (they respond negative to police interaction). The guy who assaulted me (crack cocaine enthusiast) was not released because his mother works in the building. That place is full of illegal things going on. And the people who run it are a bunch of thieves. And don't get me started with the employees. You live in constant fear of getting kicked out whenever they want. They defend the crack addicts and needle enthusiast. I had a guy overdose next to my bunk and they were just gonna leave him there. They let people smoke crack and inject themselves (even in the bed areas). I don't know how they're able to get away with all the things they do. it sickens me seeing all the discrimination and not be able to do anything. I spent 8 months there actually moving around and trying to get things done and they just give you the illusion and lie to you to make you think you're going to get housing. This whole time I was paying $111.30 each month to stay in a homeless veterans shelter when majority of the people don't even pay. That's the reward for being a responsible, non addict?

One can find the good and bad in any place, it depends on perspective and what it is you're looking for. I came to NECHV physically and mentally broken with very little hope. Circumstance forced me to make some changes in my life that I couldn't have done elsewhere. NECHV helped me to save my life. The Center has resources available to change lives if you're willing to do your part. If youre a vereran and need help, make the call.

About New England Center and Home for Veterans

New England Center and Home for Veterans (NECHV) is a non-profit organization that has been providing housing and support services to veterans who are at-risk of homelessness since 1989. The center is located in Downtown Boston, but it offers its services throughout the region. NECHV is a natural leader in the field of veteran housing and support services, with a mission to empower veterans who are facing challenges such as homelessness, unemployment, mental health issues, and substance abuse.

The NECHV provides a wide range of programs and services to help veterans get back on their feet. These include transitional housing programs, employment assistance programs, case management services, clinical support services for mental health issues and substance abuse disorders. The center also offers educational opportunities through its partnership with local colleges.

One of the unique features of NECHV is its commitment to providing holistic care for veterans. This means that they not only provide basic needs like food and shelter but also focus on addressing underlying issues that may have contributed to their homelessness or other challenges they face. They work closely with each veteran to develop an individualized plan that addresses their specific needs.

NECHV has received numerous awards for its outstanding work in serving veterans over the years. In 2018 alone, it was recognized by the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network as one of the top nonprofits in Massachusetts.

The center's success can be attributed to its dedicated staff members who are passionate about helping veterans succeed. They work tirelessly every day to ensure that each veteran receives personalized care tailored specifically to their needs.

In addition to providing direct service programs for veterans, NECHV also engages in advocacy efforts aimed at improving policies related to veteran's affairs at both state and federal levels.

Overall, New England Center and Home for Veterans is an exceptional organization committed to serving those who have served our country selflessly. Its comprehensive approach towards addressing various challenges faced by homeless or at-risk-of-homelessness vets makes it stand out from other organizations working towards similar goals."
