This place has recently had a change of management and drastic refurbishment. The transformation has been phenomenal. It now serves food which, having tried several things on the menu, I can confirm is good. They pretty reliably have three ales on tap. They have one wide-screen television which is typically not but occasionally shows major sporting events. There's seating in the front and plans to develop seating in the back which is currently a bit of an eye-sore but that's a minor quibble really. Very dog-friendly. Slightly on the pricey side of things but that's not out of the ordinary for the area.
Lovely traditional English Pub, friendly staff + locals. Top notch food and reasonably priced drinks. Undoubtably somewhere to be all year round and there is a diffrent special everyday e.g. Monday = cheaper Ales!
Friendly service and relaxing venue with great outside terrace.
A really excellent local pub in the heart of Hampstead

& ...they let me out"
Highly Recommended
Excellent Staff/Carers & Fine Food & Ale
Really enjoyed it, food was fantastic and beer spot on.
A lovely friendly local pub, just what Hampstead needed.
What more would you want from a pub? Good drinks, friendly staff and patrons... plus a secret and intimate jazz club downstairs.... Quite a gem... Can't wait to return...
I enjoyed some drinks after a walk through Hampstead. A nice place and pretty inviting pub .
This place used to be a cosy, warm Hampstead pub with comfy soft banquette seating, turkey red walls and a lovely bar decorated with ceramic tiles advertising Swan Ink and other products. Above the square edged bar was stained glass panels with the words 'sherry' 'Port' and 'Stout'. But now all has gone. The bar remains but the exterior of it has been shorn of its history and lovely individuality. In it's place is a plain bar that sits in a plain grey room with a thunderous grey ceiling. On the plus side, the beers are well kept but the Duke has undergone a sad transformation.
Not much changed from its days as the Duke of Hamilton. Nice cosy and old fashioned.
Great selection of cask ales. One of the few remaining (non-gastro) pubs in Hampstead. A favorite stop for a pint on the walk home.
First pub since lockdown. Feel safe here, staff with masks, good distancing of tables, table service, decent food
A good looking pub with an open fire that is tucked away on a side street. Good selection of drinks with friendly staff. I haven't tried the food yet. (Edit) Very impressed with the food and wine. A gem of a place!
