NeighborWorks® Anchorage (Anchorage Neighborhood Housing Services) Review

Very helpful staff kind and generous facilitating all my developmentally delayed needs

NeighborWorks is a really good place to find out information about subsidized housing. They offer many programs to assist Alaskans get into a home of their own. Many of the programs that they offer focus on home ownership, they even offer free classes so that you can learn about owning a home and what it takes to be a successful homeowner. I definitely recommend it to people who are looking for rental assistance or a path to home ownership.

Moved here from a Weidner property and let me tell you the difference is outstanding! My work orders finally get done and the grounds are amazing thank you for your wonderful service!

WARNING: DO NOT rent from Neighborhood Works. We rented an apartment from Neighborhood Works (Specifically Panoramic View Apartments) for 2 months. After returning from vacation and finding that our cheaply secured in-building storage had been broken into, and most of our valuable items stolen, we called the landlord and let them know of the robbery, that we felt unsafe, and that we would like to move out. We were told that they knew who had broken into our storage (a fellow renter), but could not tell us, for legal reasons. Furthermore, under no condition would we be let out of the contract. They did replace the broken latch.

Despite filing a police report, none of our belongings were returned, except for my wife s ukulele, which I had to pick up from the pawn shop after a 3 month waiting period. For about 6 months, we continued paying rent after we moved out, until Neighborhood Works finally rented out the unit to someone else. This happened in January. We weren t notified until March.

I immediately asked that our security deposit be returned, and was told to wait 2 weeks. A month later we had still not received our deposit, and Neighborhood Works stopped responding to my calls and texts. Another two weeks of emails, and we finally receive our deposit. Of the 700 we gave them, they returned 310, having spent the remainder on cleaning and replacement, and touch up paint. This was after we had lived there for 2 months. Definitely not long enough to cause any wear or tear on the unit.

Please do not rent from this collective of sharks and scam artists.

I have never hated an apartment more than the one with these people. Their managers have no compassion and they inspect more than legally allowed. Their incompetence never ends!!! I thought I d dusted my feet of this organization that claims to help people two years ago. Oh no!!! They just stole $1900 from a single working mom of a debt that was paid in full over 26 months ago!!! You re better off living in a run down apartment that s not maintained then dealing with the on going headache of these people! Run away they are not help, they are more headache!
