I will try to be brief: Huge waste of $1699. I have not been granted anything I was promised as a premium travel club member. Issue 1: The travel dollars are only a point system and you Cant control how you spend them. The 4000 points they give you towards a luxury vacation is really only $400 towards an overpriced vacation. Issue 2: I booked 3 Medium Garden suites at the Standard Spa in Miami as advertised. The hotel had me booked in 3 standard rooms. Luckily, I called resort to check. NEA would not solve it at first. I had to wait on hold for more than 5 hours after multiple ppl and then book through the supplier site, Expedia. The only reason Eduardo solved it is that i was within my 10 day cancellation period and I threatened to cancel if I wasn t honored the advertised price. Issue 3: They do not price match as promised. I found the exact room at on another site and was told that NEA didn t recognize that site. Issue 4: My promised concierge, Miguel Sanchez, never picks up or calls me back. I ve left over 10 msgs. Issue 5: The booking website is very slow and hotel listings have few pictures. You will have to rely on the agents to book, and then they charge you an agent fee of $20. Issue 6: I booked a beach bungalow in Tulum only to find out THE BEACH WAS CLOSED and there was no air conditioning. The resort would not refund my second night even though I didn t even stay the the bungalow for two nights. Issue 5: I requested and booked through an agent an adult only hotel in Cancun. He directed me to the Sian Kaan Adult Only Hotel Website. It is a total scam. When I arrived, It was a family centered resort with thousands of kids. There was actually a special, 2 kids free per 1 paying adult. The resort blamed Expedia who I did not book through. I kept saying NEA Travel but all of the booking is on the backend through Expedia.
The resort manager said the website hadn t been updated in a year and that the resort is now a family resort. I purchased this on 3/30/21 and I have attempted to have one decent booking and traveling experience. I do not want any other teacher who works hard to be taken advantage by this exclusive travel club. DO NOT PURCHASE THE VACATION CLUB. Just use the free travel benefits that come with the Union membership. I wish someone warned me but there are no reviews or reviews options because it s all just listed under NEA Member Benefits. The travel Club should have a separate Google site since members pay extra for it so that we can share candid, honest reviews.
