First of all, if you have not been here, don't comment. Yes, it is awful, but if you stay to yourself and do what you have to do, you will have no problems. I saw racism from all races, guards who were biased and judgmental, and inmates who didn't mess with anyone do their time and leave. You have good and bad people everywhere. Use this as a learning experience if you make a trip to NCCIW, stay away from the drugs and the sexual side of prison and move on. I was there for 16 months. I completed the 90 day intense Alcohol Chemical Dependency Program, as well as obtained 6 certificates in different courses offered by Wake Technical Institute, which I can use as I move forward in life. I will NEVER forget the experience, but I know that it happened for a reason and I used it as a learning experience. Just Saying!!!!!!

Let s start by saying this. The Captains, Lieutenants, and Sergeants at NCCIW DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT care about their employees. I say that to say this, if you call out because you are sick they DEMAND a doctors note. FYI the law states if you call out more than 3 consecutive days you must have a doctors note. Not here, if you call out even once they are all down your back. It s bad enough us employees work our butts off doing 12+ hour shifts with no praise at all and they complain about 2 days out. I overheard just last week because word travels fast here, some officer found out she had cancer and had to go to her appointment but the CAPTAIN did not let her go because they were short! What kind of foolery is this?!? That s how the last Lieutenant Resigned . Now I ve been here quite a while and I ve seen a lot of things, but sickness is one thing I do not play about. I lost my father to cancer when I was a teen and I know how it can drastically change ones life. But to sit and talk about the officer in front of other officers is f***ed up! They think because they are superior no one can say anything to them. But wrong is wrong. Now what if that officer would have passed out on the floor? Then what?? Calling out because you don t feel like coming to work is one thing, but when you re actually sick and no one cares is another. They still want you to come to work. It s their fault they are short staff. Stuff like this makes people not want to work for people who doesn t care about their well being. Especially if the inmates are telling the high superiors what to do! When I heard this it disgusted me. I can t believe I work for evil, cold hearted, soulless, merciless Captains, Lt, etc like this! They look into everything else, look into this Captain being fired EXPEDITIOUSLY. If I could leave no stars I sure would.

I spent over 24 months at this facility. This is a breeding ground for hate and violence from all races, and all standings. Inmates, gauards, and faculty. It's sad really! I don't recommend this place to anyone. If you must go, do what you have to, stay away from drugs, and the sexual side of things. Keep your head down and stay under the radar.

It is a desperate shame that women go to prison to be rehabilitated. But rather when you go to NCCIW you are bullied and you life is in danger. You shouldn't have to be cut and jumped by a gang of your peers.
No woman should have to fear walking throughout this facility. As a state prison what are you doing about these problems?????!Are you protecting these women????Are you educating the guards on things to be aware of so that these problems don't arise?
