Beautiful upscale mountain lodge- absolutely love staying here when we visit Stowe, it's even a great getaway when we used to live up in Vermont. Lots of acyiviroes all year round, great dining, skiing, hiking, swimming, concerts, indoor and outdoor games, excellent accomodations- this place really has it all!

well its certainly the vail of the east. 130 for a day pass is pretty outrageous for a northeast mountain. Their saving grace is their season pass deals. The mountain itself was fine (icy conditions unfortunately). A very odd layout for the lifts as the mountain doesn really funnel down very well and its pretty spread out. It wasnt very busy but i can't see this mountain handeling a crowd very well. Everything else is the usualy expensive resort prices (food, beer, etc). I will definitely be skiing here more often but its losing 2 stars for the absurd lift ticket price.

Amazing hotel rooms, relitively affordable prices during summer. Facilities such as the pool, gym, spa seemed to be in good condition (the gym is huge). The staff were friendly. I did find that they tried to hard sell an upgraded room that went from +750$ a night down to +350$ a night, wouldn't take no for an answer.

Stayed at TollHouse, which was a few minutes from a very convenient lift. Snow was incredible here, runs were wide and varied, and the lessons were expensive but fantastic. Would love to come here again.

This resort is in a beautiful location. The facilities are outstanding especially for winter sports. In the summer close to hiking and biking trails. The standard of the bedrooms are very high with luxury bathrooms. Bar and restaurants serve good quality food and great drinks at reasonable prices. Staff were outstandingly friendly, from the valet parking, the receptionist and bar staff, they all went out of their way to be most helpful. Would highly recommend a stay here.

A lovely setting in the heart of Vermont. That s where it ends.
Suites are small and we found the front desk staff to be quite curt and dismissive. We were looking for a quiet weekend spa resort and ended up overlooking a crowded noisy pool. They were unwilling to change ( we offered to upgrade). If you like pretentious and overpaying for everything, then this is the resort for you!
The only on site restaurant was wildly overpriced and food was terrible.
The golf (although pricy) was fantastic! Views for miles and excitingly challenging course. This is why resort got two stars and not zero.

Not a cost effective/value place to stay, however, it is one of the scenic places I've ever stayed at. One of the best localities to be in for the fall foliage views. Spectacular scenes just in and around the resort.

Stowe Mtn will always have a place in my heart, but after today, I wonder if fairly recent new owner, Vail Resorts, is putting the financial screws to Stowe. Today, Stowe reported a nice 24 hr snowfall of 6 inches... with a few inches after last night close. Read that as a fresh powder morning. The main lot was largely full by 930. AND much much emptier by 1130. WHY? Three out of its four main lifts were "on hold" The Gondola, Sunny, and Sensation, never opened. Effectively cutting off more than half of the skiable acres. Management will likely say it was for our safety, as a light freezing drizzle was falling. However, being a former lift operator there under previous ownership, those lifts operated under much much more adverse conditions. Heck, its an east coast winter... ice is the norm. Wind was our biggest concern and winds were light today. I fear the other lifts were closed to save payroll (may not be fact, but it sure looked like it). I wouldnt go to cost containment so quickly, but the ski rental Demo Center is now closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I found this out the hard way. After renting skis online (I now live in the Rockies) and ordering from the Demo center, I arrive there, confirmred with staff that the Demo Center was still at the base of the quad to pick up rentals, and walked there only to find a message in the window... Closed on Tues/Wed until further notice. Back to Mansfield base where staff apologized for sending me there and off to Spruce center (a long way away) for a limited selection of Demos. The demo center had to be closed for cost reasons, in my opinion. STOWE (or is it Vail?).. The snow is great. The trails are in great shape. You are a destination resort. Don't short change your guests. I love Stowe mountain and becsuse I'm no longer local to you, can't visit as often as I'd like... you can do better.

Over the past month, things seem to be running smoother and the staff appear happier, so Stowe gets another star!

Old review from early December 2017-
I'm hoping that as the winter goes on, I can give Stowe Mountain Resort a higher rating, because I love the mountain, but so far I haven't been very impressed with how things have started this year. I've witnessed some members of Patrol and Lift Operations being hostile and/or unprofessional to friends and family who I have been skiing/riding with this year, eg. Lift Ops yelling at folks for not putting the bar down quick enough or lifting it "too soon", members of ski patrol yelling at skiers and riders to "slow down" when they were skiing at appropriate speeds for the terrain and level of traffic, and member of patrol yelling at folks for entering the woods on open trails, staff members relocating skis outside the lodge without guests' knowledge. I understand that under new management, things don't always run smoothly at first and changes will be made, but it would be helpful if management could do a better job of making policy changes more clear and refrain from punishing guests for not knowing the new rules, especially if the new rules are not clear. Since I started coming here regularly in 2007, the staff at Stowe have always been wonderful, so I'm hoping the hostility is a passing phase. "Please", "Thank you", and a calm and friendly tone of voice go a long way. :)

Mountain was a mess. Primary lift which is the quad and only lift on left side failed numerous times. Grooming was completely lacking until Thursday night in preparation for the weekend crowd. They advertise 4 lifts operating on line but really it s only the 1 quad on each side for a total of 2. For the price it s robbery. Customer service is lacking as they are all new. They refer you to their website and good luck getting a response. With all the snow Stowe got this week they should of been better prepared. With the price of their lift tickets, they should have more than 2 lifts operating on the entire mountain.

The mountain is very small and they charge the same as vail mountain which has way more runs. The mountain was poorly maintained including unmarked holes in the cat tracks. The advanced terrain was a let down - just ice. Signs for chairlifts take you on uphill cats, I had to turn around. The gondola stopped and we were trapped for 20 minutes. When you arrive to the base they don t tell you which parking is free and what is paid - if you follow the signs you ll end up in a lot that is $10/hr. Stowe was really hard for me to get to and I was so disappointed . But I do love to ski and it was awesome to get out there! One redeeming quality is that the annual pass is ~$600 if booked early and it works at loads of mountains.

Yesterday I attempted to ski Stowe for the first time this year. Since I had done it before I assumed I d be fine skipping the lower runs. Half way down I froze. I literally took my skis off and gave up. I had my mind made up that I could not ski down this mountain. Luckily ski patrol stopped (forgive me for not catching your name) , asking if I was ok. When I told him I wasn t he said no problem I can get someone to bring you down. I breathed a sigh of relief at that moment. We hung out for a few minutes chatting about where we were from (which helped ease my mind). Another patrolman came down the mountain with a sled behind him. When he got there he didn t instantly put me in & bring me down. He took the time to help me put my skis back on. Attempted many times at trying to help me overcome my fear. My mind got the best of me. I had given up, Mike sled me down the mountain. I would like to thank you guys & your team for being out there helping people like me. I ll stick to the bunny slopes for now!

Some of the best woods terrain in upstate VT, decent parks, and decent groomed terrain as well. Otherwise this mountain will rob you blind and the weekend crowds can get packed. During peak periods many of the customers are quite snobbish and can diminish the experience.

Definitely seems like the Vail of the East. Big mountain feel, great diversity of terrain, and a beautiful, expensive-looking lodge. The price tag for the lodge is reflected in their pricing to the consumer, for sure!

This review is based solely on the Gondola Ride to Mount Mansfield. The ride was $30 each round trip, typical for Gondola rides. The ride itself was beautiful and the trails were well maintained. The unfortunate detail was the lack of a warning given about the Gondola closing time.

Upon taking a gondola ride to the top and hiking to the summit, when my group came down we found the gondola had closed. There had been no warning prior to buying tickets about how close the closing time had been (within two hours of purchase). I believe a verbal warning should be given, especially given the early closing time, 4pm. Keep in mind, this also refers to facilities and water being shut down too. We had no idea we would be at the top of the mountain coming back to a closed building with no water or bathrooms available.
This threw off the rest of our plans for the day as we had to hike down the mountain for an hour, versus a 15 minute Gondola ride, and had wasted half our ticket price due to it being shut down. This could've been prevented had the hours been relayed to us upon purchasing tickets.

I would strongly urge anyone purchasing gondola tickets to pay attention to the closing time so they don't fall into the same situation we did and over purchase.

Beautiful and gorgeous in the Fall months. The gondola to the top of the mountain is worth every penny! The seasonal change from Fall to Winter....when you re at the highest elevation of the ski lift is spectacular. Next stop is heaven!

We went to the Happy Pancake Restaurant at Stowe Mountain Resort. They had delicious crepes as well as other foods such as paninis. This was a great sweets break while we were skiing. It was a 5 minute gondala ride away from the slopes, but we'll worth it.

Great skiing

Great skiing
Full price tickets for one lift and 25 trails, $110
Food and beverage are wildly overpriced
Some amazing trails available, but had to work to get back to the quad, shame on Stowe ops management for not opening a second lift.

Wont be back again as good as the mountain is, too corporate now, and it is very apparent.

Loved the quintessential lodge feel of all the facilities at Stowe. I took snowboarding lessons and everyone associated with the ski school was top notch, friendly and helpful. If you have family or friends who won't be skiing, they'll find lots to do around the slopes, warm fires, bars, coffee and shopping.

This mountain has some of the best terrain in the North East. Great park, fast lifts, and tons of glades make this one my favorite resorts. The only reason this is not a five star review is because of the pretty steep price tag on lift tickets (season pass prices are reasonable, but single day rides will almost run you a Ben Franklin :(

The terrain is as good as any other mountain for $90 a day. Clean restrooms and safe locker rooms.
I don't like the fact that they make you pay for the rfid card for ticket. $5 it costs, and you can't opt out. Wachusetts ski resort gives it out for free, public transport gives it out for bus passes for free.

An Amazing place for a long skiing trip. A big mountain with some of the best views in vermont. If you are a skiing fan stuck on the east coast, this is for sure somewhere to come try. Do try to get an Epic pass(their season pass) before getting here since single day tickets are really expensive.

this is such an amazing place to come and visit. We don't get to Vermont often but this is definitely one of the highlights of any trip we have here. What has been done to the lodge is just incredible. And that's to say nothing of the zip lining or any of the other activities they have for families to enjoy. The staff are just awesome and they have safety and entertainment in the Forefront of their minds for anything that you are doing. Oh and by the way the food and drinks are pretty good too. What a great place to enjoy in winter or summer.

Really cool place! I feel like I m out west, loved the trails. Almost to many to choose from.

3 stars because it s pretty expensive actually over priced to be honest and SOOO
Over crowded on the weekends.

AVOID the weekends. Try to ride on a weekday. It s not fun when people are running into you, constantly catching edges and have to wait on long lines. 100% worth riding on a weekday.

Great mountain experience with friendly staff. Great variety of glades and groomers with good lodge food. The lodges and intermediate slopes can get crowded leading to icy conditions as well on weekends and holidays. So hit the mountain mid week if you find the time.

Stowe mountain resort is easy to navigate, had several good cafes, restaurants, cafeterias, and rest areas that are within easy access of the lifts and not too far a walk in ski boots. The runs boast magnificent views and cater to a wide array of skiing ability. Lift lines move quickly and tend to be short as soon as you leave the base.

This is inarguably a top 3 Eastern ski resort. It's ridiculous that Stowe is rated anything but 5 stars. Gluten free cafeteria? This must be a joke we are here for the skiing friend. Stay at the Stone Hut for the full experience.

As a long time skier I am worried that the sport is becoming too expensive to attract new boarders and skiers. The resort is beautiful, but the ticket prices reflect that. Exclusivity is not a feature that I endorse.

Stowe has very good and challenging skiing, but it is somewhat of a logistical nightmare. I think that they are not really staffed and organized as they should be for the current popularity of the place. On a weekend, show up very early or very late. Otherwise you will sit in traffic waiting to park, wait in line an hour for a lift ticket & wait another 20 to get on the lift. Other ski areas in VT seem to have their act together more than Stowe.
