National Incubation Center: Empowering Innovative Startups in Pakistan
National Incubation Center (NIC) is a leading incubation center in Pakistan that provides a platform for innovative startup founders to turn their ideas into successful businesses. NIC is an initiative of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Government of Pakistan, and is managed by Jazz xlr8, a subsidiary of Jazz.
NIC aims to create an ecosystem that fosters innovation and entrepreneurship in Pakistan. The center provides startups with access to state-of-the-art facilities, mentorship from industry experts, networking opportunities with investors and other entrepreneurs, as well as funding support.
The incubation program at NIC is designed to help startups at every stage of their journey. From ideation to product development, market validation to scaling up – NIC offers tailored support for each startup's unique needs. The program includes workshops on business planning, marketing strategies, financial management, legal compliance and more.
NIC has partnered with some of the leading organizations in the country such as Ignite National Technology Fund (formerly known as National ICT R&D Fund), Telenor Velocity Accelerator Program and Google for Startups among others. These partnerships provide startups with access to additional resources such as seed funding opportunities or mentorship programs.
One of the key features that sets NIC apart from other incubators in Pakistan is its focus on social impact startups. The center believes that technology can be used for social good and encourages startups working towards solving social problems such as poverty alleviation or improving healthcare services.
Since its inception in 2017, NIC has supported over 200 startups across various sectors including fintech, edtech, healthtech among others. Some notable success stories include Cowlar – a smart collar for dairy cows which helps farmers monitor their health; Marham – an online platform connecting patients with doctors; Patari – a music streaming service promoting Pakistani music; SABAQ – an edtech startup providing digital learning solutions for children.
NIC has also been recognized internationally for its efforts in promoting entrepreneurship in Pakistan. In 2019, NIC was awarded the Best Incubator Award at the World Incubation Summit held in Qatar.
