The lunch in the Great Hall has been fantastic. A salad of spicy tofu and edamame beans was delicious. There was not a hint of dullness in the dishes around me. Fantastic service, wines from Ontario, inter alia, and the most amazing view of Parliament. Definitely recommend the exhibitions too. Today has been magical. Thank you NGC. Make a big space in your day when visiting here.

Love this gallery so much! The place is spacious and have a great variety of collection. It's free every thursday from 5 to 8 pm. Otherwise, student with valid student id pays $7 or adult $14. This time when I visited, there were some paintings from Europe museum.

Experienced by second visit today with two of my friends and it was just as lovely as the first. The European and contemporary exhibits are favourites of mine as that's predominantly what I study. It's home to a wide range of artists and movements, my favourites being from Russian futurism, Gustav Klimt, Dante Gabriel Rossetti. I hope to move to Ottawa shortly in which case I'll be becoming a member and visiting as often as a student's agenda allows.

Amazing selection of European art. We also toured the beautiful monsters exhibit and found it very fascinating.
Make sure to check out Gustav Klimt and Picasso pieces. We really liked that there were curators at certain sections of the gallery which provided more depth and perception to the experience. Definitely a must go when in Ottawa (especially when you re trying to shelter from the cold)

Really great expositions including the two aboriginal ones. My girlfriend and I went during the Doors Open Ottawa event so we didn't had time to view everything especially the international Arts section which is huge, but may return in the future for other galleries and arts as it would probably take several hours to go properly through the entire gallery

Worth a visit - make sure you give yourself a full day to really explore the entire gallery. This gallery has an extensive collection of timeless art. An impressive facility with its own architectual flaire. Bring comfy shoes, you can easily get in 10,000 steps walking around!

The National Gallery of Canada, located in the capital Ottawa, Ontario, is one of Canada's premier art galleries. The Gallery is a glass and granite building on Sussex Drive with a great view of the Canadian Parliament Buildings on Parliament Hill. Inside is a little gift shop that my wife fell in love with. Amazing place and from pars to take amazing photos on the famous spider, it was really cool.

This late afternoon at the Museum of Fine Arts was wonderful, the place is absolutely superb. We had the chance to see the rays of the sunset to cross the building all glass. Paul Klee's exhibition is awesome.
We were surprised that it was free from 17h (it was a Thursday).
Must do if you are going to Ottawa!

Went to see the gallery during its free time on Thursdays 5-8pm. The gallery has several great collections from Canadian and indigenous art, contemporary and historical art.
They also had a wonderful performance by the Ottawa Wind Ensemble in the main atrium which filled the halls with music.

Interesting museum! The European and Amerine collection does not disappoint at all, but the real surprise is the Canadian one. A bridge between past and present, original and exciting. The building itself is a work of art with its stained glass windows and all-glass exterior.

As someone who doesn't know the first thing about art and art history, I thought I might get bored but I still had a lot of fun exploring the Gallery. If you're unsure, try going on a Thursday afternoon where admission is free after 5pm.

VIGIOUS EXPERIENCE-GREAT LEBRUN!

VIGIOUS EXPERIENCE-GREAT LEBRUN!

But great disappointment in the cafeteria where the clerk, unfriendly, do not understand a French word, and do not even try a smile or a word in French.
How many of these clerks do not speak a word of English?

2 weights, 2 measures.

As a layman in the context of fine arts, the visit to the art museum was of little interest to me. For those who do not understand and do not appreciate this type of art, like me, I think that visits to the museums of civilization, natural history, war and aviation are more useful.

Dispointed, for a National art Gallery, it didn't seem to have very much representation of the Frist Nations art, or anything particularly strong of modern day Canadian culture, or challenging.

Lovely museum. Unfortunately large sections were closed when I was there. But the rest was pretty good. Modern art, older art, art by the native people, photography you can find it all here. There's something for everyone.

Great gallery, unfortunately they are under renovations and a portion of the gallery is inaccessible. Throughout the year many interesting special exhibits and collections are rotated through here. They have a great children's art program on the weekend during the month as well. Situated near the Byward Market, Parliament Hill, a few embassies, the river, and Sussex Drive - a great tourist destination.
