Wonderful collection of Canadian and Indigenous art.
Wonderful collection of Canadian and Indigenous art.
Definitely an arts facility of international stature. A spacious home to a vast collection of outstanding works.
The new layout of the Canadian contemporary section makes more sense now
Everything is great - except the long wait in the bistro at lunch. Only one cashier on!
You could get lost in here for days, exactly the way I like it. Beautiful locale, wonderful art and exhibits. Don't miss it!
We renewed our membership this year, because it's no fun to think about whether each individual exhibition is worth the price of admission. We just enjoyed the members-only opening for the Gauguin Portraits exhibition, and now it's an automatic "let's go" anytime the mood strikes. The ambiance of the structure and quality of the permanent collection and traveling exhibits is first class.
Went to show featuring Botinsky(sp?) . Definitely a must see. Outstanding.
Nice place to go and see different art style and some really classic ones.... If u love art you should give it a try. For me it was a wonderful experience and I guess will never forget it
Everyone who visits/lives in Ottawa must go to the NGOC; what a rich experience.
Amazing arts and very refreshing museum. Keep a large chunk of time for the Canadian and indigenous art!
Though there was no special exhibit on, there is plenty to see. We spent four hours there and barely made a scratch. It was quite thrilling to see originals of the group of Seven and Tom Thompson.
I went to see the anthropocene exhibition. I loved the VR integration into the exhibition. The photos and stories where eye opening and I learned so much from it.
One of the best interiors of any building in Ottawa, beautiful mix of abstract, aboriginal, and other art at the moment.
Always worth a visit when a new exhibit comes to town.
I went here on my trip to Ottawa, it was a great experience. I really enjoyed the sound exhibit, where there were many speakers simulating a chorus of people.
Incredible exhibits in a dream like gallery. Walking the halls and getting lost in the art is a wonderful day spent.
Really liked this gallery, strongly suggest to people visiting Ottawa!
My favourite place to come with a sketch pad or a good book and chill and let the inspirational atmosphere be your muse. Highly recommend getting a membership so you can visit during low tourist times.
A must if you are visiting Ottawa. If you are a local, there are great permanent exhibits and visiting ones, make sure to visit often!
Great visit on Canada Day, however it is not very stroller friendly for babies.
We particularly enjoyed the exhibition Human Scale. The building is also spectacular. We will definitely return to see other works.
Exhibition is impressive the museum employees are very knowledgeable the visit was perfect
I wasn t a huge fan of this Gallery. The augmented reality app was neat, but I felt like it could ve been used throughout the gallery, not just in a specific section.
Museums and Galleries all over the world are making their exhibits more interactive and using technology to enhance the experience. I was expecting a bit more.
Good exhibits in a variety of departments. Be sure to find the Klimpts
My favorite museum in Ottawa. Stunning architecture. Perfect place to wind down and chill.
Quite a lovely gallery, I love the architecture! Really lovely pieces and always friendly staff. They also offer some great Sunday Music Matinees with the National Arts Centre (NAC)
Beautiful gallery. A national treasure with amazing architecture and beautiful views. Lots of places to sit back and reflect. The art is carefully curated and is fantastic.
Definitely worth while if you like art. It is easy to spend hours here as the collections are extensive. The gallery is sorted into different sections based on type (photography, modern, Renaissance, etc.) So if you do not have a day to dedicate to seeing everything, you can choose the areas that match your interests. Lots of interesting mediums and very educational.
Beautiful building housing beautiful works. Free on Thursday evenings.
Totally loved this place can't wait to bring the kids back for this one
Kids had a wonderful time just fascinated with all the paintings and pieces of art
Not boring at all.
The photography exhibit could have been a bit more extensive but interesting experience otherwise. Very fine architecture and organisational aesthetic as well.
It is a little difficult to navigate - many galleries.
I would like to say that it is entertaining and informative .. but excuse me NO.
This is a wonderful collection of art work. Keep in mind it doesn't have the 'size' of collections like in Europe, but the collections it does represent they are if quality.
The only place in Ottawa where you can sit in a quiet place surrounded by masterpiece arts, read your book listening to whatever music you have on your phone without having to max the volume level because of ambiant noise/ugly music aka coffee shop music.
Excellent collection and the anthropocene exhibit was very interesting! I went on a Thursday and it was free admission after 5pm.
Great collection of art and artifacts, including extensive Aboriginal section. Very interesting pieces, with a visit!
Amazing!! There is so much to see! It took me 5 hours to enjoy everything! There is also a delicious cafe with a beautiful view if you get hungry! Plenty of art exhibits you can sit down and enjoy to rest your feet, and I LOVED the interactive art!
A must visit for all art and architecture lovers who visit the national capital region. Don't forget to visit the permanent exhibits when you go. Too much to see in just one day. Friendly staff. Fun workshops with knowledgeable guides and artists.
Way too much to see in a few hours especially if you like to read about all the paintings. There are about 140 rooms +!
Very interesting!!! Many different cultures in one museum
Fantastic place. For art lovers, it may even be full of emotions and emotions.
A big art gallery. Great paintings. Too much to absorb in one day. I tire quickly in places like this.
I have never been so disappointed in a museum as I was in this one. If this art work is the best Canada has to offer then it needs a lot of help. The native work looks like pieces that no one wanted and therefore they donated. We lived in the north and the art work was incredible and this is a very poor representation. We frequent studios everywhere and we know Canada has many fabulous artists but not here. Sadly.
Art galleries are not really our thing , so we went for the 3 free hours Thursday night , it was the perfect amount of time and the right price for us . Glad we went.
I would have rated it a "5-star" if not for the fact that it's not easy to find one's way around, inside this huge labirynth of a building. The current exhibit is really spectacular and very worthwhile seeing. It makes us proud to call ourselves "Canadian". Don't miss going.
One of my favorite museums in the world
This museum is very interesting architecturally: Its walls of glass allow you to admire the federal Parliament and the river while passing from one exposure to another. At the moment, Gauguin's Portraits are interesting. Otherwise, I appreciate the Canadian part, especially the landscapes of the Group of Seven.
Don't go here if u dont like paintings. Most boring musuem that I have ever seen. It's name should have been Art gallery.
Broad spectrum of art and sculpture. Visit the chapel for a unique experience in listening to music. Good service could be a lot better.
Great building to walk around in. Spectacular views from the cafes. Art of course!
Beautiful place, I really suggest to visit this place once here
Free admissions every Thursday from 5pm-8pm for the national collection. Loved roaming the gallery, especially with a strong focus on contemporary art. Staff is very friendly and security is pretty respectful. Lol I always hate feeling like I'm being scrutinized and watched closely but I didn't feel that way here.
Regular admissions price unknown .. you'll have to check their website as I always come in on Thursday evenings. It's always such a treat coming here.
The museum is huge, so many historical paintings and rooms but not the best I've ever seen! A bit disappointed!
No photos allowed! I noticed after i had already taken close to 50 pics :)
Its $9 to get in but overall experience is very enjoyable, it's recommended.
It was a fascinating experience! Looking at incredible art makes learning fun, natural! This was the first visit ... the first visit of many others to come!
Living in the Capital, i take this gallery for granted because this is by far one of the best art galleries I have ever been too. Always an amazing time visiting and being inspired.
An extraordinary museum! We see more and more first nations arts.
Awesome place, amazing exhibits, very well laid out museum.
Worlds largest bronze, stainless steel, and marble sculpture by the artist Louise Bourgeois is worth your visit if you are in Ottawa, Canada.
This is a must-see in Ottawa. Bring comfy walking shoes and a good few hours to see the whole gallery! If you want to see the gift shop you can pop in without seeing the gallery. It's probably the best gift shop in the city! Lots of local art and design with gifts and products directly related to the current gallery showings.
Must see place in Ottawa! Gaugin: portaits worth seeing.
