We renewed our membership this year, because it's no fun to think about whether each individual exhibition is worth the price of admission. We just enjoyed the members-only opening for the Gauguin Portraits exhibition, and now it's an automatic "let's go" anytime the mood strikes. The ambiance of the structure and quality of the permanent collection and traveling exhibits is first class.

Nice place to go and see different art style and some really classic ones.... If u love art you should give it a try. For me it was a wonderful experience and I guess will never forget it

Though there was no special exhibit on, there is plenty to see. We spent four hours there and barely made a scratch. It was quite thrilling to see originals of the group of Seven and Tom Thompson.

My favourite place to come with a sketch pad or a good book and chill and let the inspirational atmosphere be your muse. Highly recommend getting a membership so you can visit during low tourist times.

I wasn t a huge fan of this Gallery. The augmented reality app was neat, but I felt like it could ve been used throughout the gallery, not just in a specific section.

Museums and Galleries all over the world are making their exhibits more interactive and using technology to enhance the experience. I was expecting a bit more.

Definitely worth while if you like art. It is easy to spend hours here as the collections are extensive. The gallery is sorted into different sections based on type (photography, modern, Renaissance, etc.) So if you do not have a day to dedicate to seeing everything, you can choose the areas that match your interests. Lots of interesting mediums and very educational.

The only place in Ottawa where you can sit in a quiet place surrounded by masterpiece arts, read your book listening to whatever music you have on your phone without having to max the volume level because of ambiant noise/ugly music aka coffee shop music.

Amazing!! There is so much to see! It took me 5 hours to enjoy everything! There is also a delicious cafe with a beautiful view if you get hungry! Plenty of art exhibits you can sit down and enjoy to rest your feet, and I LOVED the interactive art!

A must visit for all art and architecture lovers who visit the national capital region. Don't forget to visit the permanent exhibits when you go. Too much to see in just one day. Friendly staff. Fun workshops with knowledgeable guides and artists.

I have never been so disappointed in a museum as I was in this one. If this art work is the best Canada has to offer then it needs a lot of help. The native work looks like pieces that no one wanted and therefore they donated. We lived in the north and the art work was incredible and this is a very poor representation. We frequent studios everywhere and we know Canada has many fabulous artists but not here. Sadly.

I would have rated it a "5-star" if not for the fact that it's not easy to find one's way around, inside this huge labirynth of a building. The current exhibit is really spectacular and very worthwhile seeing. It makes us proud to call ourselves "Canadian". Don't miss going.

One of my favorite museums in the world
This museum is very interesting architecturally: Its walls of glass allow you to admire the federal Parliament and the river while passing from one exposure to another. At the moment, Gauguin's Portraits are interesting. Otherwise, I appreciate the Canadian part, especially the landscapes of the Group of Seven.

Free admissions every Thursday from 5pm-8pm for the national collection. Loved roaming the gallery, especially with a strong focus on contemporary art. Staff is very friendly and security is pretty respectful. Lol I always hate feeling like I'm being scrutinized and watched closely but I didn't feel that way here.

Regular admissions price unknown .. you'll have to check their website as I always come in on Thursday evenings. It's always such a treat coming here.

The museum is huge, so many historical paintings and rooms but not the best I've ever seen! A bit disappointed!
No photos allowed! I noticed after i had already taken close to 50 pics :)
Its $9 to get in but overall experience is very enjoyable, it's recommended.

This is a must-see in Ottawa. Bring comfy walking shoes and a good few hours to see the whole gallery! If you want to see the gift shop you can pop in without seeing the gallery. It's probably the best gift shop in the city! Lots of local art and design with gifts and products directly related to the current gallery showings.
