This is a wonderful place to understand the history, the beginning, the birth and growth of the national capital of Australia.

If you have only a few minutes, a scaled model of the capital city along with a commentary, assisted by light guidance- provides the perfect way to understand the planning and the ideas behind the design of the city.

If you have more time, there is so much more to explore.

This was the least enjoyable destination we toured in Canberra because there were 3-4 groups of school kids when we visited. I don't understand how staff at the center could think it was a good idea to let in more than a hundred young children from different schools at the same time, given how small the building was. Not only did the kids made a ton of noise but also made parts of the exhibits completely inaccessible because large groups would crowd around each other to chat or play. This could all have been prevented if staff had scheduled the visits to ensure no two school groups visited at the same time.

One of the best places in Canberra, the variety of flowers, especially tulips will blow your mind. A fantastic place to visit in Spring and the way the garden is maintained deserves credits. A must visit location for anyone who loves flowers, nature's beauty at full display here.

Floriarde wonderful experience took grandchildren they too were fascinated and in awe. The displays were creative and well thought out. A lot of people including myself took the chance to photograph the venue sights . The lake water features due crowds especially the globe. Food prices up market prices not all that suitable for ordinary families. Only thing purchased on way out was an ice cream at regular pricing. The walk was at least near 2km away from where car was parked. But am pleased we saw it. Highly recommend to view .

Highly recommend visiting the National Capital Exhibit when you choose to visit Canberra. All the staff are very knowledgeable and can give you an insight of what you can visit and new things you didn't even know about. This is a must visit in my opinion.

Excellent tourist bureau. Not just for tourists, it is a way that locals can refresh their understanding of the central role Canberra takes in not just the political hubber bubble but in knitting together the istory, learning, law and spiritual life of this wide brown land.
The spacious Exhibition reflects this obsession of the town. Alongside the leaflets touting attractions such as the museums and dinosaurs (!) Is a bigcareful and intricate model of Canberra as it is evolving and a 10 minute light and sound narrative that highlights the features Parlimentary Triangle. Oh, the Deck is a pretty fair cafe but overrun by children most of the time. Great views. Parking is tight up close. There is walking access across a bridge from the southern end of Allara St.

About National Capital Exhibition

National Capital Exhibition: A Comprehensive Guide to Australia's Capital

The National Capital Exhibition is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in the history, culture, and politics of Australia. The exhibition is located in Canberra, the capital city of Australia, and showcases the rich heritage of this unique city.

The National Capital Authority (NCA) is responsible for managing and preserving the national capital. Established under the Australian Capital Territory (Planning and Land Management) Act 1988, the NCA serves as a trustee of the National Capital. In this capacity, it serves the interests of not only the Australian Government but also its people.

The National Capital Exhibition provides visitors with an opportunity to learn about Canberra's history and development as a planned city. The exhibition features interactive displays that showcase various aspects of Canberra's past and present. Visitors can explore different themes such as design principles, architecture, landscape design, cultural heritage sites, public art installations and more.

One highlight of this exhibition is its focus on Walter Burley Griffin's vision for Canberra. Griffin was an American architect who won an international competition to design Australia's new capital in 1912. His plan was based on geometric patterns that reflected his interest in nature-inspired designs.

Visitors can also learn about other important figures who contributed to Canberra's development over time such as Marion Mahony Griffin (Walter Burley Griffin’s wife), Robert Menzies (Australia’s longest-serving Prime Minister), John Curtin (Australia’s wartime Prime Minister), Ben Chifley (Prime Minister during post-war reconstruction period) among others.

Another fascinating aspect of this exhibition is its exploration into how Aboriginal people have lived on these lands for thousands of years before European settlement occurred in 1820s-30s. Visitors can learn about their culture through interactive displays that showcase traditional practices like hunting techniques or storytelling traditions passed down from generation to generation.

In addition to exploring Canberra’s past through exhibits at NCE visitors can also take guided tours around some iconic landmarks like Parliament House or Old Parliament House which are both located within walking distance from NCE building itself!

Overall if you're looking for a comprehensive guide to Australia's capital then look no further than The National Capital Exhibition! With its interactive displays showcasing everything from architecture & landscape design principles all way up until modern-day politics there really isn't anything else quite like it out there!
