H' Sam Oriental Bistro Review

The sushi was awful with dried out rice paper that seemed like it was sitting out. The rolls were sloppy and not properly wrapped. The spring rolls were EXTREMELY greasy. The chicken and broccoli was actually pretty good which leads me to believe they are better at Chinese takeout than sushi.

The worst part was the service. Waiter was very rude.

This is the best Chinese restaurant I have ever eaten at (my wife says the same). I have tried several dishes that were excellent, but after I tried the Triple Mongolian Delight -- I've had it every time since.

This was our first time ordering from H'Sam Oriental Bistro, and my husband and I were 100% satisfied. We ordered the dinner for two with lemon chicken and tangy spicy chicken entrees, pan fried gyoza dumplings, and crab puffs. Everything was delicious. My husband really enjoyed the amount and variety of vegetables that came with the tangy spicy chicken - broccoli, peppers, onion, water chestnuts, mushrooms, snow peas, and carrots. We also received a free sweet and sour chicken entree as we had ordered $35+ worth of food. The chicken pieces for the lemon chicken and sweet and sour chicken were crispy and juicy, and the sauces were both very flavorful. We have more than enough food to serve as lunch for the rest of the week. H'Sam Oriental Bistro will likely become our new go-to restaurant for Chinese food.

Came here because I had a little extra time. The food is AMAZING! I was in time for the lunch special so I order vegetables lo mein and orange chicken and it was to die for. It was fresh, the chicken wa crunchy, and the noodles were not dry. Will definitely be returning. Clean comfy place to eat,

The food is great and Peter, our server was very kind and friendly and this place is very cozy and comfortable. There were plenty of vegetarian options.

Very good lunch choice. Normally for the "lunch special" you only get an egg roll OR a bowl of soup but H'SAM gives you both and I appreciate that. Plus the General Tso's chicken can be turned up or down for spice and that is also a nice touch. Will go back again!

Me & my boyfriend order from here sometimes & always notice how there is always more onions than actual meat. Today I found a roach leg in my wonton soup & my boyfriend found a hair deep inside his broccoli & shrimp. You guys really fell off on food quality, we're never ordering from here again.

I love this restaurant. It is cozy and has has excellent food. H Sam Oriental serves both Chinese and Japanese food and have a small sushi bar.

They have a lot of foot traffic picking up food to go.

I start every meal with hot and sour soup. Theirs is excellent. Their lunch menu is very reasonably priced and their service is great.

Champion Forest sushi roll. When I find a favorite I stick with it.

This place is hands down my favorite Chinese place in north Houston, altho I've heard they do Japanese very well also . Cant confirm that. But I can tell you this place is a gem, it's a very small but tasteful restaurant tucked in a corner that feels very high-end with a fantastic ambience-- without a fine dining price tag. HIGHLY recommend Hsams.

Ordered for delivery last night, first time trying this place after getting their menu in the mail. Absolutely awful, the CRISPY honey chicken was NOT at all crispy but it and the sweet and sour chicken were very soggy. They had a lousy selection of sushi rolls and for some reason the cucumber roll was spicy?! The only really good thing in the batch were the fried fantail shrimp. We will not be ordering from here again.

We just ordered our first delivery and after MONTHS of trying to find a good place for Chinese food; we found it!! (Note: we used to love Imperial Garden but once they came under new mgmt the sauces got thinned and the flavor went drastically downhill). We ordered Sesame Beef, chicken fried rice, eggrolls and crab puffs from H Sam - it was all delicious! The simple fact that my 9 year old keeps stealing my sesame beef is testament to that. I highly recommend this place to anyone who's been let down by other restaurants of this cuisine in the area.

Some of the best Chinese food you are going to get!!. The portions for lunch or dinner are more than enough. Everything is always hot even when you get it delivered

We stopped by on a Thursday evening, the restaurant was quite empty when we had entered. However, it took a while for the waitress to come by and take our drink orders. Other than that, once we actually had ordered and got our food, the rest of the experience was great. I had their california roll and the dragon roll while my boyfriend had the general tso chicken. The sushi tasted great, they were generously sized pieces. The chicken also tasted pretty good, they gave a small bowl of rice along with the chicken. Definitely would come back for other menu items.

My new favorite place for a quick bite of Japanese food! Their sushi rolls are wonderful and HUGE for the price. They are also very quick on delivery! I haven't eaten as much from the Chinese side of the menu yet, so the verdict is still out on that side, though I wasn't very pleased with the shrimp lo mein I did try. However, everything else has been quite wonderful. They definitely have me coming back to try out stuff!

We typically order delivery and the service is great. The old style egg rolls are sooooooo good. The food is fresh and the portions are big. I get the lunch specials and usually have leftovers.

I've been going here for years. They have both a Chinese and Japanese menu with lots of variety. My favorite is the shrimp tempura! I haven't found any other place that makes it better than here. That batter is light and airy, and the shrimp and vegetables are always cooked to perfection.

Fast and wonderful. Dumplings had a different flavor but otherwise outstanding food. Delivery quoted was 45 minutes. It didn't take even half that much time! Absolutely recommend.

Great place for a quick bite to just eat, or a date out with your significant other. Sushi is excellent here, and the staff is very nice. The inside is clean, nice and relaxing. Would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for good sushi at a reasonable price.

I would highly recommend this place to everyone. To any of you that don't know, it is hard to keep an Asian coming back to the same Americanized Asian restaurant. I am telling you this place rocks! The food are amazing, especially the newest sushi rolls -- Utah roll=the biggest roll ever!! and YamiYami roll=just like how they named it!! I love the spicy mayo sauce, I would put it on all my food! My family always dine in here during lunch time. The prices are cheap and the portions are decent! The Japanese bento box off the lunch menu is what I always got! Love the service, even though they have different servers every time we went. Try it and you are gonna love the place!!! Some of my family's favorites: shrimp tempura appetizer, chicken teriyaki dinner, shaggy dog roll, fresh salmon roll (or I should say all the sushi rolls), mongolian beef and the triple delight, salt and pepper shrimp, crispy shrimp with walnut, and all the bento boxes.......

Only did take-out here. Food is ok. Inside is kinda dark, but clean.

I ordered delivery over the phone. You have to give them your credit card number and expiration over the phone.
I never use my card much and normally use cash. Anyway 2 days after making a purchase from here I had various charges that totaled over 100 dollars. Luckily I was able to notice the transactions on time and dispute them with my bank. DO NOT TRUST THESE CROOKED PEOPLE. I can't prove this but it was obvious to me that it was them. I never use that card.

Amazing sushi and service in a beautiful old school style Oriental restaurant. The sushi boat was delicious and the fish could not have been fresher. Even the ginger and wasabi were more than the usual stuff. My waiter Peter was super courteous and helpful. Two thumbs up!

Amazing food and great service. The food is absolutely delicious and served in generous portions at great prices. We have not had any dishes here that disappointed, in fact they always exceed expectations. I had someone tell me that it was hard to find good Chinese food in Houston, apparently they never visited here, because it is fantastic. If you enjoy great Chinese food, then stop in and you will be very happy you did.

Inexpensive entree options and the food is fresh, flavorful and great texture. If you like low key eateries, this place is a sure bet!

Disgusting found a fruit fly in bottom of salad I have no fruit or sitting water any where in my apartment!..this is my 3rd time eating food from here and this is the last straw the last time my chicken was over cooked now this time the shogun box that I tried here first time today was nothing but deep fried food even the veggies were deep fried I never in my life had breaded tasteless veggies the shrimp was taste less and the beef rubbery,the side salad was old iceberg lettuce that was probably sitting in a big container all day it was wet with gray and orange spots with 2 small slices of a small tomato and about 5 slices of carrot nothing was shredded I m flabbergasted at the fact that these ppl have the audacity to say they cook Japanese food cause that s not it at all the only thing that had flavor was the over cooked pork ..my daughter did enjoy the ribs which were rough ..also the delivery was expecting a tip after asking me to write down a price on my receipt..honey I m not obligated to write down anything for anyone who s offering free delivery you lucky y all got them 2 dollars I felt forced upon tipping!!!

Ok ambience, great food. Sushi bar. They have a Japanese and Chinese cuisine menu. Fast service and nice people.

I have never had steamed gyoza that were as appalling as the ones I received tonight. They appeared to have been boiled, were bland and unappealing to the eye. The accompanying sauce was an added insult. The egg rolls were In fact...fried spring rolls. Had I expected fried spring rolls I would have been pleased as they were hot, fresh and flavorful. However, the sweet and sour sauce left much to be desired as it was cold, watery and sad. I was pleased that the steamed rice was not dry and the house special rice met expectations. The lemon chicken was really sweet and sour chicken with lemon sauce on the side. My disappointment was immeasurable. I will give a 2 star rating for freshness and timely delivery.

We were in search of Japanese food more specifically shrimp tempura! We decided fo give this place a try. We weren't sure what to expect considering it was almost 9pm and they served Chinese and Japanese food. I guess I was expecting one to lack in something, nope! Nothing like left over sushi, right? Not this place! It was freshly made to order! Peter (I hope that was his name), our waiter was fantastic and very helpful in our decision making. Everything we ordered was delicious and FRESH! From the pan fried noodles to the Shrimp tempura dinner...we loved it!! I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. I usually don't like sharing because that's one of my favorite dishes, but the dinner plate was huge! 3 people less than $45= happy bellies!! Now my favourite place.
