For anyone looking for a trail long enough to be worth it but not too short. Not much elevation gain, not technical. Plenty of creek crossings and variations in scenery. Phone service along the first 14 Miles south of garrison creek are solid.

The scenic trail never gets old. It is kind of over grown at the beggining, and very over grown as you pass onto the 1812 memorial, beyond that it can be a pain to get through the further you go. Highly reccomend this trail any day in the winter time. Beware of the plethora of spider webs in the summer!!!

I have made several attempts to walk this trail from various parking lots and find it to be very poorly maintained.
Most recently (May 2021) I tried walking the Garrison Creek section with my 7 year old. After carrying him through a field of overgrown grass, weeds, and wildflowers, we found that the trail requires crossing the creek. The current was strong and the level was high so we had to abandon our trip and cross back through the overgrown field.
The Natchez Trace is a beautiful place to drive but it is clearly not for dayhikers unfortunately.
