It was a great experience! My husband and I did the Estate Tour, and had a great time. It's a relaxing way to go wine tasting and experience Napa.
Although I came to Napa several times a day, I tried Wine Train for the first time slowly a couple of nights and I am very happy. At Full Day's Legacy Tour you can taste in the cellar with three wineries Mondavi, Charles Krug, V. Sattui, including a tour of the winery.
While traveling between wineries, one course of cooking comes out one by one, wines other than the first welcome drink are an extra charge. I can freely drink wine while feeling the scenery and the wind with the open cart freely except during meals, but this was the highest pleasant.
Great experience - food was delicious - winery tours were lots of fun.
The wine train is a lovely gourmet dinner (or lunch) excursion out up the Napa Valley. The food is delicious and the views are nice. You do start out in Napa traveling through the backsides of warehouses and buisnesses and then people's backyards but then you travel through vineyards most of the way and by the return at night it's often too dark to see much. It is nice that they have commissioned murals along the initial part of the route, but be aware a $1 donation is added to your check on the train unless you opt out to find the rail arts district (RAD) for the murals. Also know the wine train ticket covers the food and the experience with unlimited tap water (some people complain about the taste of Napa water, but it's not horrible) and coffee. All other beverages (including wine) cost money. They do have a nice selection of wines and mixed drinks and the wine flights are a fun way to try several types of wine if you are new to it. If you wish to tip for your service you can on your drink tab as there was nothing included in your ticket price for the tip (they recommend $10 to $15 per person if you just want to bring cash to leave on the table if you do not plan on getting drinks). Overall a fun experience.
Very expensive. Can do it once. The staff were very nice. Wine list was very good.
Food was also good. The chicken dish could've been better.
Was a great way to spend the day in Napa Valley with no worries about driving or getting around.
Great food and wonderful ambiance.
Staff was very professional.
A great option for a fine dining experience! We chose the Valentine s Day evening gourmet meal option. All courses of the meal were served quickly once we got underway. Dessert comes after the engine switches ends for the return trip. Get up and roam and explore the well-kept, authentic Pullman train cars. Incredible detail in the fine woodwork throughout each car! What a great experience, to have a gourmet meal in a piece of American history! You won t be disappointed.
We did the Legacy trip on a Monday. 3 wineries. Good hosts, good food and great service. Shared the dinner car table with a couple from upstate NY. Best time with new friends!
This was an absolutely fantastic and relaxing way to see so much of the Napa Valley. The vineyard and winery scenery was breathtaking and I loved my food - get the salmon, get the salmon! ;-) The train has a great ambience to it and you can walk all up and down and through all of the cars, which all look different, and you can even go outside on both ends of the train. Highly recommend adding this to your California itinerary.
Really fun experience, the food was really good also. We opted to go on different vineyards so a private shuttle picked us up from the train stop. The whole experience was fun. Every vineyard was informative and a good experience.
The food was excellent, the staff was professional and friendly and the overall experience was spectacular.
A wine train with NO moscato? Not ok. So needless to say I didn't have any wine on the wine train. Company was great but the experience not so much. You share a lunch/dinner table with another couple (not very cozy or romantic) it was freezing (bring a sweater) and the train was only going what seemed like 10 mph. And the photo they take before you board is WAY pricey. I'm sure that should have come along with the package. Wouldn't care to indulge again. EVER & wouldn't recommend it.
Bumpy short ride through city and mediocre food. The photo website that we paid to download from was broken.
A little expensive and the wine on the train is not included which was a bummer. I wouldn't recommend taking the dinner train in fall (October) because it gets dark by the time you get to wineries which defeats the purpose enjoying nice views.
Took the 3 hour sunset dinner train and it was quite a disappointment. Fernando the gentleman assigned to our table put in the wrong order and was not attentive at all. I had better service at a McDonald's, lol. And unfortunate for us, the couple sitting at the table next to us had the blinds drawn so we didnt have any views other than the cars driving parallel to us haha
If you have the time, I'd recommend taking the wine train tour where you stop by a number of wineries along the route.
I wish they had more information about the vineyards as you travel thru, food was excellent, service was rushed, disappointed that they pushed a tip for their arts project.
Very nice atmosphere. Hard to see out the window at night. The chicken served was raw. No kidding. Fortunately no one got sick.
Wow what a tourist trap....not even close to being worth the money. Okay food, wine not included, and very very tired decor.
If you like wine and are going to Napa Valley, can't miss the wine train. Unbelievable experience
The best wine train ever entire my life it my first time! Very satisfied.
Good experience! Scenery is nice once out of town. Food was good. Wine flights are available in the coffee room. Good wine pairings with food.
Overpriced train ride behind many older homes in Napa where you can see their backyard. The food and experience was OK. Just won't do it again.
The site is very well prepared for a guided tour, the site very well ornamented, the wine very tasty. A little bit of love, although it's worth it
A cracking day out on a comfortable and spectacular train amidst lovely scenery. I didn't expect much from the food but it exceeded my expectations by a long way.
Very efficiently run..... staff so friendly and helpful, food was excellent! Overall perfect Valentine's Day!!
